I was wondering if someone could complete the International A Number 16 license for me. If your up for it just comment or send me a PM and I will email you the game save.

Thanks :)

Robin.

I would do it if you wanna send me a memory card but I don't have the technology at my home to deal with email saves. But I can see you're in the UK which would be a bit ridiculous to mail the card from there.

You have PAL, right? In which case anybody with NTSC (myself included) can't help.

For what it's worth, have you looked here?

Yeah I'm PAL, to do this all you would need is either a BC PS3 or a PS2 memory card adapter.

I have looked at the license guides but I'm not talented enough

Well, that test is fairly easy even without guides. You have to brake as little as possible for the first turn - the rest is pretty obvious, although wheelspin has to be avoided (you can go a bit around it by holding a higher gear through the tight corners). The bronze time should be very easy as long as the car stays on the road. :)

Are you trying for Gold or just Bronze?

How far off is your best time?

The link that Dan360 gave has a great description of how to drive the Nissan R92CP.

Getting Gold does take some work since the Nissan will easily light up its rear tires coming out of the low-speed turns.

My only additional advice is that you can take the first high-speed right hander (Tertre Rouge) from way to the left (actually slightly off the normal track) which will allow you to carry more speed.

Good luck,

I remember that too....using as much track as possible in that first hard right. I remember the final turn, too. Trying desperately not to give too much throttle...

I only golded IA-16 once, and once is enough. :banghead:

I'm just trying for bronze, I'm seriously out of practice and using a dual shock doesn't help. I just wanted to have some fun in GT4 again but this IA-16 is driving me nuts which is why I asked if someone could complete that test with my gamesave because I bet some of you can complete it in minutes!

You could bronze it! Just be patient. I thought you were trying for gold.

Yea, just calm your mind, put on some music (if that helps) and keep trying the test over and over. You'll eventually start to learn how the Nissan likes to be driven. That's really the main problem, is dealing with the car itself.

I would recommend using a full-scale racing car, like the Nissan R92CP, but it can be any of these faster cars, assuming you have one. Like if you only have the Mazda 787B, you can use that instead. Drive it around Sarthe/no chicanes, with its default settings but (I think) no TCS or ASM. Get a feel for where you should start braking, where you should turn-in, how much gas you can give before things start falling apart. Use 2nd gear out of the slow areas...don't bother with 1st.

....you'll eventually get it.

Does the test car in IA-16 have TCS ON? I'm forgetting. I'm pretty sure it hasn't got ASM on, though.

I'm pretty sure it has both on. Is it impossible to do the test with AT? because that's what I'm using and the rear tires want to spin when you get to low in the gears.

Just spent 15 minutes trying this one, and managed Gold without too much trouble.
I use Auto transmission, and DS2 like yourself, so it is more than possible.
Driving aids I think are off as the dashboard light does not flicker when traction is lost.
I don't have the means to get your gamesave from email onto my PS2, so I can't do the test for you.

Video of my best lap (19.7MB)

Tips:
1) Move slightly left before the 1st turn to help straighten it out.

2) Ignore the rumble strips on the first turn, consider the grass as the apex, and the sand as the runoff.

3) Roundabout sign on right (0:15 on video). You should reach this sign within 12 seconds, and be travelling over 200mph. If not, don't worry too much as more time can be lost in the corners than on the main straight.

4) Keep in the centre 2 lanes as you can lose around 5mph on the dusty edges of the track. (0:37)

5) Brake hard halfway between 100m board and the end of the line in the centre of the road. (1:02)

6) Aim for 2/3rds throttle as you exit the corner in 2nd gear (1:07). Floor it as soon as you change to 3rd.

7) Brake until the car auto downshifts 1 gear for the kink (1:30), then get back on the gas for a moment.

8) Start braking again before the start of the paved area on the right (1:31).

9) Start braking for the last corner before the gear selector appears (1:39).

10) Keep off the curbs and the grass, and remember 2/3rds throttle as you accelerate for the line (1:42). I lost at least half a second here on this run.

The times in brackets are positions in the video which begins 3 seconds before the clock starts. Subtract 3 seconds from each for target times if you are going for gold.

You can use an automatic, but it might be a good idea to hold the button down when you're exiting the two slowest corners. Hold one of your shift buttons to keep the tranny in 2nd gear. You'll still have to be careful with the throttle, but you can give more gas in 2nd than you could if the car slips into 1st.

^ You don't even need 2nd, 3rd gear is more than enough to get out of all 3 slow corners.

The only reason I can see for not being able to at least bronze this test is the wheel-spin out of the slow corners, there are two options to combat this. You either (as a once off) use manual transmission so that you never shift lower that 3rd gear. (If braking and down shifting is to much to handle simply take the corners in 5th then down shift to 3rd once you're on the straights again). Or you can stay with auto, but you'll need to start tapping the gas pedal when the wheels spin; when the car shifts into 3rd you 'should' be able to floor it again.

As with any license test, finish it once no matter how slow the time is, then just keep trying to beat your previous best (ghost) time, and eventually you'll have the bronze time, all you need is some patience.

EDIT: I just did the whole thing in 5th gear, (well I changed from 4th to 5th after the first corner) and still did it in 1:51.019, though your lines and braking need to be decent.

EDIT2: I also did the whole thing automatic and just mashed the gas, went too deep into 2 of the corners and still did a 1:48.882, I guess more than anything you just have to practice more.

This is probably the best piece of advice in this entire thread.

The button to keep within the gear that you are on is R2. This helps if you want to late-shift until you're in the redline or if you don't want wheelspin in a low gear coming out of a corner.

Actually the button that stops shifting, is whatever button you have setup for Up-Shifting. I think it's the same with the Down-Shifting button, but I haven't tried it.

Definately possible to get bronze with AT and DS2 controller. I got Gold using the exact same set-up. Yes it took numerous tries but I did get there.

The best advice that worked for me, was when braking for the three slow corners, once you see the little 3 appear on your gears, use the R2 to hold in that gear. Hold the gear until you know the speed is enough that it wont Automatically drop you down to 2nd.

The other advice given was practice and patience, you will get there.
