GT4 MadCatz MC2 Steering Wheel Problems GT4

Hi,
I'm new and have been trawling this forum for a long time looking for some needed answers.

I bought the MC2 from ebay as it was listed as PS2 compatible. When it came I saw that it was really made for the PSX. It is the one with the normal controller plug not usb.

I am trying to use it to play GT4 but am not getting any repsonse from the wheel or the pedals. The only things that seem to work are the buttons and D-pad on the wheel and the gear shift knob that only works in the menus as an up/down selector.

Can anyone help an old guy to set up this wheel with GT4? I really am in a corner and do not know how to proceed. I also found a user manual for an MC2 wheel but I think it is a newer model (yellow/black wheel). Mine is grey with black.

MadCatz website does not offer really good support for this model although in their support pages the mention of GT is there but only up to GT3.

Shall I just continue with the DS controller although to tell you the truth this has no "real" feel as the wheels turn lock to lock with the small left-stick so that is why I thought a wheel could be better for getting some silver or gold in the licences.

Thanks for any help.

i have this wheel so i'll try my best to explain how to use the pedals and shifter.
1.For gt4 to program the gas pedal you press the program button and step on the pedal a red light should be flashing on the wheel.
2.Then you press x.
3.This means the pedal is now basically the gas button.

To use the brake pedal you repeat the same steps but you step on the brake pedal this time and press square. Same goes for the shifter.

And the wheel issue maybe because you set your steering with the D pad you need to set it to the left analog stick to use the actual wheel when driving.

Thanks Peeweegary,

I managed to get it working, finally. I found it very hard to control the car. I put the deadband to exactly in the middle, i.e. one red line and tried playing with the green setting. I am trying the special licences and the one in the UK, Opera, is quite tricky. After playing the previous GT games with the analogue controller it takes some time to get used to the steering but lap after lap I'm shaving off a good amount of seconds.

Thanks again for the help.

PS. Can't really understand the message by Quiet_Storm though:confused::confused::odd:
