GT4 - Memory card saving technology

i really think PD shud add compression to the memory card data, it takes tomuch on mine - 218 KB, not too bad but my Age of Empires is the worst, they should all use compression, i keep wating time on the ar2v2 memory card thing to crush files.

The PS2 has an 8 mb memory card... 218 KB is not even a fraction of that. I used to have several saves from Red Faction that ate up 2 MB of space, but I deleted them. 8 MB is plenty of space.

You're alright, no problem. That power rests with mods (like myself!) - it'll usually get picked up pretty quickly (as seen above).

Try Vrally 3, I played that a little, and I think that it used 1500K on my memory card.

8MB is plenty of space for most games...atleast its not like the old PSX memory card which held only 8 or so blocks...compared the the PSX memory card, the PS2 memory card has been vastley improved with more space. Unless you own and play many games, 8MB is plenty of space

Has the filesize for GT games really increased? I mean, it was about 500kb before, right? BC it took up 4 blocks out of the 8block card, and those cards held 1MB... So really, I don't expect a file size jump at all for the memory cards. Plus remember this: you'll want a hard drive for GT4 for the downloaded cars!

PSX memory cards had 15 blocks. And yes the save has gotten bigger.

Okay, so it's gotten bigger, but not much by comparison of the quality of the game. How big was GT2's filesize on memory cards?

GT2's was 3 or 4 blocks...and my mem card stil has 5000+kb on it and its got 5-6 games saves on it so far...

Remember that in GT3 you can save 200 cars in your garage whereas in GT1&2 you could "only" save 100 cars.
