gt4 must have a clutch, the gameplay would be extremely nut balls and i know for a fact half of us on these forums would have a heart attack tearing through the grannies on an escudo or a hooked up gtr, i just wanted to say that, its prolly already been said but i am too lazy to look, you can put this post wherever you like, including the trash, i just needed to say it would be sick if there were a clutch

having a clutch button on a controller would be crappy.

having a steering wheel with pedals (including clutch) and shifter would be lots o fun.

yeah i gotta agree with SaleenASL a clutch on the controller would suck, but if they made a new steering wheel with the gas brake and clutch pedals and a shifter that would be sweet

That's my dream... if they could make a steering wheel with real shifter not crap F1 style , clutch pedal (and give us the possibility to adjust pedals position , and make them metal for god's sake) add a handbrake lever and then it could be called real driving simulator

let off gas >> depress clutch >> change gears >> let off clutch >> accelerate.

and to do this at 200+ mph, with braking, and other cars.
too much work.

exactly. only the hardcore (or people who beat the game and are bored) would want to do this. not enough people for a company to justify producing a wheel like this.

but if your that hardcore, that u think u need a clutch, talk to that german guy on these forums. unfortunately i cant remember his name. werner or wernkles or something. he seems like a nice dude, who wouldnt mind helping u out.

he has created his own shift nobs and things like that. he might have a website, if i recall correctly.

as a matter of fact, that sounds like something fun to tool around with in your spare time. buy a used controller for cheap and chop it up. now i gotta search for that website.

Have it an option...

it would be fun to be next to slower traffic, going like 30mph, press in the clutch, rev it up and then let off the clutch and you peel away from them...

For real racing, it's sorta unpractical, but would still be fun and take more skill...

for real racing?????!!!!! that is real racing, first off i would never consider it on a ocntroller i only meant the wheel, sorry for not clarifing that, and secondly for whoever wanted a better wheel like metal pedals or anything, MOMOCOURSE offers a steering wheel, it has a genuine MOMO wheel and pedals but cost mad clams, i saw it at Best Buy, but the clutch definetaly would be better, i mean as an option, you wouldn't have to start out like that with your vitz or wahtever or do liscense tests, but i think it would be amazing double clutching a toms supra or ripping through the box in the gt-one, i am just saying i think the game was too easy, an a clutch would make it realistic and help you actualy feel more the of upgrades better, not just clutch upgrades. if you are all realy to ***** to try it, and i know that much more than half of you are not, then you can just eat my shorts

Grand Prix Legends runs a clutch, but will shift without it (at risk of mortal damage to the gearbox...).

On the Logitech wheel it's one of the buttons on the front of the wheel.

on the regular controller, they could just make it R1, I shift up with R2 and down withL2, so that is easy to do.

Most modern racing transmissions, particularly the 5- and 6-speed sequential units, are designed to be shifted without the clutch. Typically the clutch is only used for launching and for coming to a complete stop. This is to allow drivers to left-foot brake while on course.

Obviously, the production-based cars with a stock transmission would benefit from a clutch, but only for a wheel/pedals outfit including a stick shift.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, It would be nice to drive my TVR Tuscan Stock with a steering wheel and a clutch that would test my abilitys. But when you get the racing transmission It would turn it into a sequential gearbox with no need to use the clutch other than in the start. So for the majority of the time it would be rendered useless.

Damn... i agree no clutch for F1 cars , racing cars or rally cars , but the majority in GT are production cars , and it's not too much work , i think it's natural for every driver , i even sometimes look for clutch under my left foot in GT and i play only with right foot... And any of you , if you have ever raced your car on a track or especially if you tried to drift you'll know how big role is played by clutch...

You have a two pedal set-up and don't brake with your left foot!!!! The Karting Gods will steal your soul!!! That goes for all you people who drive automatics in real life too!!!

Damn i don't feel the pedal good with my left foot... Also i hate automatics 😈 ... I'd rather do a good ol' heel-toe then brake with my left foot...

for what reason would you vote no for a clutch option, i mean i know right now all of you are board as hell with gt3 and a clutch would make it more fun later on, escpecialy if it was extremely realistic

Damn, that reminds me of the game in arcade. I think it's Ridge Racer. It had a clutch and it was so fun to show off there. I laughed at people grinning the gears. I think it's perfect if GT can put a clutch in and Logitech or some companies come up with a wheel with clutch....analog and force feedback of course. Must allow braking while accelerating so I can practice my heel-n-toe......and maybe some old cars don't have sychronizer and you need to double clutch....wow! that's perfectly a driving simulator!!

word, you know what i am sayin, double clutching a 800hp supra would be nuts, yea i know the game you are talking about, you had to depress the clutch and turn the key to start it, that was sick, a CLUTCH isn't MUTCH

Ahh non synchronized gears... man oh man , my first car had reverse and 1st gear without synchronizers , the car had to be standing still to put them on... If you tried to put it while rolling it made horrible noises and also killed the gears

yeah well in reality most race cars don't use the clutch and if your using a pad I would like to know where you would put the clutch button having a clutch would just make things arkward for us and op for a non clutch mode or something like that

damn man if they made your "dream" steering wheel with full metal and adjustable pedals well thats gonna be well over £150 far as I know especially if its made by logitech

having a total driving simulator unit would be so awesome.
steering wheel, clutch, gas, brake, hand brake, and a real shifter.
would be fun to have especially for drifting.

You guy's are missing the " stall " part in clutch, I know it has to be much more complex to stall a car in many different way's, and for each car it would have to have a different rpm to stall in... no? or i might be rong...

If you guy's REALL REALLY want to feel what your dreaming of, visit http://www.racer.nl/ its a free car simulation, with GT3 Type graphics and much more potential with clutch etc... everything you wanted in a racing game, and still in BETA...

Little preview....

But let's not change the subject.

HAHAHAHHAHAH the license plate says Z U Later HAHAHa and its a 350Z HAHAHHAHAHa

sorry it has nuthin to do wit the topic but i just found that so funny :D

i noticed that some pc wheels had a gearshift that worked, it would be great to have that working with a GT game.
