Would it be possible to install the whole game onto my ps3 hdd? And if so, would I be able to play it on the ps3?

Can you completely install ANY game onto the PS3 HDD?
I didn't think it was possible, let alone a ps2 game.

It's not possible to do it. It's only that some PS2 games need the use of the HDD(only reason why the fat PS2 had a slot for a 3.5" HDD). Even if the game was installed on the HDD it would require the CD to boot the game.

The only option I'd suggest is to rip a image of the GT4 DVD onto the computer and use a PS2 emulator. Though I have tried playing GT4 on a emulator and the game did not boot. PS2 emulation is still being worked on so it's not really an option.

I've been playing GT4 on my PS3 for over 3 years now, I play it far more than GT5P. If you have a backwards compatible PS3 (one of the older ones) it should work fine, I've not come across any bugs at all. To be honest I had far more bug problems playing GT4 on my silver PS2. All you have to do with the PS3 is set up a virtual memory card so you can store your game progress.

I'm not sure about actually installing the whole game on the PS3 HDD, but there should be no need, copies of GT4 are cheap to buy 2nd hand so you can play from the CD.

The only thing i'd be scared about is my PS3 wiping out all of it's Data. (Happened to 4 friends already :indiff:)

The PS3 has a backup function. There are instructions in the manual and you can use it to back up all of your files. All you need is a external HDD that has enough space to store your files.

i think (not 100% sure) that the older backwards compatible PS3's are the only 60gb ones, so
you should be ok for GT4 👍

the downside for me is that when i put a PS2 game in it, it shuts down and reboots to play it

i didn't fancy that in terms of wear and tear on my PS3, so i use my PS2 for PS2 games

Thx, as if GT4 does not work in this PS3, will just have to buy a PS2, but I hope I do not have to.
