Week 68 Voting

themebanner2gu.jpg
This week’s theme will be "Reflections" as chosen by Week 66 Winner Beerzgood.
Further explanation of theme:
In the words of Beerzy:
I want to see shots where reflective surfaces play the major role on the shot, whether it be the car's body or just a part of it, some shiny rims, NY buildings, etc.
Cars: Any, except race cars.
Tracks: Any.
Phototravel: Yes.

  • Have confidence in your own entry, don't vote for yourself.
  • Remember that art is subjective - don't be bitter if you aren't chosen for the top ten.
  • Poll will be open until Friday.

If I'm being honest here, I don't see how alex's shot has more votes than speedster's. I've seen alex do some truly amazing work but this one just feels a little rushed to me, it's as if it isn't up to his usual god like standards

But speedster's shot is beautiful, I simply cannot put anything out of place apart from the slightly awkward shadow. Not to mention the striking reflections that have been perfectly cleaned up all across the car and the brilliant red interior that stands out really well in the area of black car.

No offence intended to either artist, they are both very good shots I just thought I'd let people know my honest opinion.

Why would I take it as offence?! Thanks Moglet for your morale support. You really do seem to like that shot don't you? Thanks again.

Even with more votes than Alex I still wouldn't be beating SlipZ. It would be nice to win a 2.0 Competition though although at the moment it looks unlikely.

I don't think anyone could beat SlipZ at this round. He's just too damn good! I've never really taken much notice of his gallery but I took a look through it lately and it's all absolutely stunning. It puts everything I try to do to shame!:scared:

 I don't think he puts you quite to shame your work is still very, very good.

I think I have caught Bram's bug though....the one when you can't stop going to NY....

Mog - alex didn't rush the shot, he simply used one he already had made. Same as you did with the black 350Z, before ending up 'cooking' that TT (awesome cleanup, btw - especially the hood/bonnet).

I really like speeds' shot also, as I already told him. I think it's his best work so far, top level on almost every aspect. But as anyone else when thinking of a theme, I had a preconceived idea of the kind of shots I wanted to see, and although speeds' shot fall within those parameters, SlipZ's shot completely filled that idea I had, thus got my vote.
That black Merc with the red interior would've got my vote if it wasn't for the blue 300ZX. 👍

Ah, OK. I didn't know that! (And thanks) :)
I must admit that I was thinking of the same location as SlipZ for one of my shots but I couldn't get a good one so I stuck to the trusted combination of shiny curvy car + New York.

It never fails to impress when properly executed! 👍

I can't be agreed Moglet lol. I respect your opinion, you're a guy with a lot of knowledge about this and I know we can have different point of views.

But I'd like to drop my humble comment too, because I think the 2.0 always was like a monopoly. The challenge of this weeks seems to be in 3 pics, there are great entries as well, but the editing and photographic quality (Very mainly the 1st one) are evident for me.

The Speedster's pic is basically a motion blur and planar cleaning in a quite low size, wich can't be compared with your harcore skills modifying tone/lights/blurs/cleaning and photographic taste in full res. I can say the same of Slip, with a similar style of you, who seems to be in the top of the 2.0 since long time ago.

Maybe it is not correct to say that my entry is "good" for this comp but I think so. We always try to enter our best, and I have to say that ZZII is one of my very best for me. Surely you can imagine the textures and lighting that photo had at SS Route, even being my problem because I'm who select what to enter. But some hours of hard work was needed to push that image to the limit of my skills, as one of the hardest photomode challenges I found in GT4.

I didn't get angry or something, I'm always pleased to combine different thoughts so I'm pleased to read a comment like yours 👍
