very good to see the mag comp on the up again after a few low weeks. I had to enter in a week with so many other entries didnt I?

It would be great if you could make a poll where you have to view all the full size images BEFORE you were able to vote. That way the voter could not just pick a cover based on the thumbnail.
Some of these covers have a LOT of detail and craftsmanship them that does not appear in the thumbs, and may NOT be as striking in tiny form, but I think a good portion of the votes made in the comps is based on the thumbs w/o looking at the full pics.
I, for one, feel that it is necessary and mandatory to look at all the FULL SIZE images BEFORE I vote for a winner. I do this because I want to see the amount of detail and quality that was put in to these designs, and the ones that have good layout but are lacking in quality.
I guess I am a rotten judge of "pure art" type efforts; where it looks as if all the thought process went in to the layout and non went in to the quality of the pics or even in to cleaning them up.
Sometimes, being a perfectionist and expecting the same from others really blows ...

I don't think that you could do this, but you could post large pictures in the poll instead of thumbnails. You could make a rule like your cover must be no longer than 800 pixels or something on the longest side to help 56K users. I don't know how long an image of that size would load, because I use cable, but it would probably help.

Hear-Hear! I find myself doing that. Looking at just the thumb (disregarding) and then going back later, opening and saying wow! Didn't see that! Nice...
A brief descriptor (or designers rationalle) beside the final Poll posting may help the viewer decide to open and look at the 'Full Meal Deal". (If possible).
This is not a rant because I'm sucking wind in the voting category on this one... (bitter
), but hopefully a way to get some of the 57,000 members and the 30(+) 'odd grunts' of voters to get more involved.30 (+) votes... come on people! This isn't a real election where your vote doesn't count... (hanging Chad anyone?) This is supposed to be fun...
