ok today i had a chance to my ps2 disks cleaned.... the ones that were scratched and i cleaned gt4 at a video store and brought it back to brand new. but when i load a race, race, win the race it exits and starts loading it just spinds a red taco under the red and blue boxes. this happend before i got it clean, and their is not a single scratch on the disk and the ps2 only does it to this game as all my other games work. even ones that are scratched to buggery.
im thinking the disk might be getting old although it looks perfect to me
any ideas.... i might pick up another copy for cheap if i can find one\

edit: i should probably add that my ps2 is a almost brand new ps2 slim scph-90002 that i picked up new mid last year
Edit2: it worked fine till i scratched it up by accident then it would load a race and stop loading anything else as its doing now

Never heard of that glitch before. Did it do this when you first got the game?

If so, im guessing theres a couple of corrupt files on that CD, so you may need another copy.

Red Circle of Death. One of my discs succumbed to this after I put it in the PC (it says it's a DVD-Rom) and it said 'no'. (My PC cannot read DVD-Roms as well which as you should know is a MASSIVE problem these days) :( I have a new copy now.

cheers both of you. i might just pick up another copy, their prety cheap now. it did used to work yes back when i had my old ps2 slim. not to worry anyway

If it is red then it is freezing, and that's all I know, mine used to freeze before the race even started, all I could do was time trials, which it would freeze afterwards, but only when put into a slim Playstation, it works in the big ones, I got it cleaned and stuff at the video store and it worked, so if I were you, I'd rather take it back to the store, or use a big Playstation 2, if you have one

You could try cleaning it yourself before you give up on it. Use water, preferably not to cold, from the tap and hold the shinny side in the water till the shinny side is all wet. Then use a soft washcloth or some other such cloth and wipe the water off from the center spindle out to the edge only press as hard as you need to wipe the water off. Go around the disk wiping from the middle out till you are done, then dab any remaining water off of the disk anywhere it is seen. When it is all dry you can try it back in the PS2.

What your trying to remove are finger oils or smudges on the shinny surface, there is little you can do about scratches.

I had the same red circle freeze-up. The disc was scratched, put in a newer GT4 disk and no more red circle freeze-ups. PS2 fatty.
