OK. I searched the forums but could not find anything with regard to this issue. Though I did find other topics to follow up on.
I've been playing GT4 on the PS3 and wanted to record some of the replays using my computer as I've done in the past with my PS2. All replays saved on the PS2 have worked fine as expected. However, all replays which were saved on the PS3 and then replayed on the PS2 end up in failure. What happens is what appears to be a timing issue. The vehicle eventually just losses it's place on the track and gets stuck against a barrier or some other object. This reminds me of the explanation given as to why replays from an NTSC/PAL system could not be replayed on the opposite system. Just in case, both my PS2 & PS3 are NTSC units.
Just for thoroughness I replayed a saved race originally created & saved on a PS2 on the PS3 and to my dismay, the same issue occurred.
I know the immediate solution is to lug the PS3 over to my computer in order to capture the replay, however that is not a long term practical solution for me. Yes, I'll still plan to be playing GT4 5 years from now. ;-) I still play games on an original NES and other "classic" systems. ;-)
Could someone else try and replicate this? I don't think Sony/PD would see this as a problem of significant importance to fix, but I'd like to rule out the possibility that it is something on my end.
PS3 Firmware: Ver 2.20
Thanks,
