:: GT4 WRS Week 101 ::

This week was going to be a Mini mayhem but I decided to tone the combo down a bit and increase the distance instead, thus creating a proper Mini adventure. This week you will be able to drive a GT4 car that is about as close as you will get to driving a real Mini. Not that BMW thingy that I call a Bini, I mean the classic Mini. 👍 We have 7 laps to contend with this week and to put the damper on things even further I want every submission to be 100% clean please :) Don't worry, it's not that hard once you driven her around the track for a while. Oh yeah, the track is Motorland by the way :)

Week 101 Race Specifics:
You shouldn't have to mess around too much with the starting grid, but some are better than others. Also, make sure the AI's are running on the same tyres as your car: (S1's). There are no time splits on this track so we will be posting full lap times. Please only post times for laps 1, 4 and 6. (subject to leaderboard capabilities, let me know what's best guys?).

Standard Clean OLR Rules:
  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
  • rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • no hybrids
  • no cheating of any kind
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • save your replay ('Save Single Race Replay' icon)
Thread rules:
The following info cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed on MSN or via other private conversation methods):
  • lap times for laps 1, 3, 5 and 7
  • any information which can be used to infer total race time
Submission:
All submissions must be sent by PM to me (Sphinx):
  • you can submit only once per race
  • please include in your submission PM your division, name and final lap time
  • deadline is Tuesday 3rd April 11am GMT (L.A. 3am, Toronto 6am, New York 6am, London 11am,

    Paris/Berlin/Rome 12 Noon, Syd/Melb 10pm)
  • if you are still unsure of the deadline try this site
Time verification:
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted:
  • fastest times each week will be required to submit a replay for verification
  • any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
  • when a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide a replay before the next race deadline
  • failure to do so will result in the removal of the unverified submission from WRS results
  • video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified

I have got a couple of things to say after trying this out. First, sphinx, in your main post the car says '07 when it is a '70. (Not to embarass myself but I didn't see it in arcade mode, so I thought I had to buy one but the only one there was a '70 :ouch: )

Second thing, I would recommend not running the race with the step van in 5th place. I couldn't get through the pack clean and fast.

Thirdly, when it shows my replay it says my car has 91 hp but when I increase in the 20% it only says the 90 that is stated. This is ok, right?

Good luck to all racers. Jimmy

i wonder if jerry and david (gtpg steward) are talking to each other or if they have telepathic contact? :) in the current playground challenge it's the chevy chevelle @ ... motorland. i wasnt too happy there so i thought well tuesday i got a new wrs week on my hands so no worries ... and then this comes up :ouch:
anyway it's nice to have an arcade race to deal with after all of these lonely laps 👍

Looks like a nice relaxing combo, will give this a shot once I finish up with the JGTC round 9 race.

Even better than what I've been hoping for. Sweet :D

Unfortunately, my time this week is limited as I'm going south this weekend, so I don't know whether I'd be able to submit or not. So Screw the Astra, I'm doing this 👍

Sphinx, what about Tyrewear?

Cool cool. Is this thing FWD then? I thought it was RWD originally, but I guess I don't have an idea... :) Is it based off the regular Mini then?

Yep. I've got a book here about classic sportscars which describes it as the worst-looking car ever built on a Mini :P

It’s ‘70’. I’m disleksick :)

That’s fine. 90hp in quick setup, 90hp displayed on the grid lineup and 91hp on the replay.

No tyre wear this week. Nice and easy does it. 👍

Right then, I'm kicking up the leaderboard...

To fellow board-updaters: 2-4-6 is possible, lets just run them as 'T2-6', mmkay? Doing them as different laps will make the board go nuts, with three lines per racer...

EDIT: Found an easy lineup - able to reach 2nd before the long right-hander:

  • Fiat 500R '72
  • Mazda Carol 360 Deluxe '62
  • Subaru 360 '58
  • Honda LSV
  • VW Beetle

First on the board :D

Had a few runs at this before bed in the early hours this morning and its pretty addictive .. best save so far has ..

L2 - 52.120
L4 - 52.148
L6 - 53.407 ( hesitant AI passing :grumpy: )

Lots to chip away at over the week 👍

i had a clean ai pass in the first go but then, when overtaking in lap 6, i was hit :grumpy: - so that's promising for this week. this car behaves real strange, and with tcs on i still get lots of wheel spin ...

i would say for luxy lap 1 instead of 2 because that'll be very important for the total race time this week.

Good point. 👍 any objections if we change it to laps 1, 4 and 6, or is it too late to do that?

No objections here 👍

L1 - 55.500 ( Seen 55.1xx as best lap 1 so far )
L4 - 52.148
L6 - 53.407

:)

No objections there either, and me and Ron are the only submitted so far... Will edit the board after another shot at the combo.

Might even turn out well, with all the sweet overtaking maneuvers paying off at the first lap.

EDIT: Just chopped off a whopping 23 seconds off my total race time, and sunk my best laps to an all-time low. All laps within less than a second from each other (Including Lap 6, excluding lap 1), so I'm happy 👍

0'56.140 :indiff:
0'53.814 👎
0'53.906 👍

And Board Updated (In mah sig, to save the URL'ing)

I was thinking of making a WRS comeback and trying this week out, but I can't find the car. Is it PAL only again?

No. It's under 'UK > Marcos'. To win it, race the MINI one-make race. It is, I think, selectable from the arcade menu, in the 'By Era' selection, under '67-'70s.

EDIT: After talking to Jerry, we decided to go ahead and add a forth split, which will be the sum of the three laps we're talking about - 1, 4 and 6. You guys can post normally, we'll add the forth using the calculator below, but it'll be nice if you could spare the time and add the 'Sum' time too.

So for the Luxy's updaters, and those who want to spare them some work, here's the calculator which takes your three laps, adds the sum, and presents it all in ready-to-paste form.

New save for me and knocked of .700 at the line 👍

L1 - 55.094
L4 - 52.289 ( had a couple of 51.9's so still a good bit to gather up )
L6 - 52.211 ( lap 5 is my overtaking lap and much slower )

This is so cool! .. I could race it all week and would have to be surgically removed from the DS2 :P

Less frustration than the Astra combo thats for sure

Same here... Though going south this sunday will hurt my chances of further shots at this combo.

If we had an LSD and the driving wheels were on the opposite side, this combo would border on perfect.

I was wondering how you guys were doing that... Thanks! 👍

(i'm an excel non-pilot :dunce:)

Oh...[hesitant] great.. We get to drive this frog-looking thing?

"Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.." ;)

Cheers,

This grid line-up is the only one that works for me

Yeah, and with the Beetle in last, it's really easy to pass the AI on the second time.

Update: Just managed to lap the whole field including Beetle. Now checking it...

55.381 :D
53.857 👎
54.141 :(
And some very cool overtaking going on...

EDIT: Dirty, that one. The Beetle stabbed me before the actual race began, so technically, it should count as clean, but I'm leaving it - 0.7 isn't worth it.

ARTIFICIAL IDIOTS(ai) got their drivers liscense at K-mart!

trying out many lineups before i can cleanly pass them all ...

1=58.052
4=54.906
6=55.389

'fraid i dont care much about this combo, but what the heck after last week's superduper 100!
