Back to some hard-core racing : a reasonable amount of power, a technical track, and lots of unforgiving sand. But that's no good reason to be sandbagging :D



Week 70 : Ford Falcon XR8 Race Car '00 @ Suzuka Circuit

Arcade Mode / Time Trial / World Circuits / Suzuka Circuit

Car specifications :
Ford Falcon XR8 Race Car '00 :
(car can be purchased at the australian Ford dealer)
  • +0% power (600 hp) ;
  • -10% weight (1215 kg) ;
  • racing medium tyres or harder ;
  • any top speed ;
  • any driving aids ;
  • any transmission mode ;
Race rules :
Standard clean OLR rules :
  • 2 wheels on track at all time ;
  • rumble strips are part of the track ;
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible ;
  • if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty ;
  • no hybrids ;
  • no cheating of any kind ;
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules ;
  • save your replay ('save ghost' icon).
Thread rules :
The following info cannot be discussed in the thread (they can however be discussed on chats or by other means) :
  • lap time ;
  • any information which can be used to infer lap time.
Submission :
All submissions must be sent to me by PM (flat-out).
  • you can submit only once per race ;
  • please include in your submission PM your division, name and time(s) ;
  • deadline is tuesday 29th August 9pm GMT (L.A. 1pm, New-York 4pm, London 10pm, Paris 11pm, Tokyo wed. 6am, Sydney wed. 8am).
Time verification :
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted.
  • fastest times each week will be required to submit with verification ;
  • any submitted time is subject to a time verification request ;
  • when a time verification has been required, the concerned racer must provide a replay before next race deadline ;
  • failure to do so will result in the submitted time to be removed for the WRS results and/or GTPlanet Times Database ;
  • video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified.

Cyril you read my mind.... Now I just have to remember whether I like the car or not..

This will DEFINITELY be a week I'll need get a move on. Because I'm leaving on Saturday for my lakehouse for a week, so I'll have to submit early. I'l try to make the most of it.
 
Hmmmm... Haven't touched that car yet... Coolness. Gotta chop more time off of week 69 first though! 👍

I got incredibly lucky on the turn after T1 with no wheelspin but I can't repeat that. DS2+wheelspin = bad

First splits for me:

T1: 0`49.190
T2: 1`29.731

I was using 380 gears and avoiding 6th gear but I'll give it a crack at 300 next time and use 6th 👍
 
Ive been using 310, maybe i should change to 300...
the hairpin realy is a bitch using DS2, no wheel spin on this lap though :cheers:

i lost .1 on the first corner, then a further .1 on the chicane.

EDIT: i was using 370 to avoid 6th, the hairpin is easy then, but i dont think its as fast overall. I only managed in the region of 48.6/7 and 1'29.2

How can I be 2 seconds down at T1 and up to 4 seconds down at T2?:scared:

One thing to keep in mind is the fact this was the track for the BC qualifier as well so we've all raced it a bit not that long ago 👍
 
This is the kind of racing I love. But I am so pissed I can't race this week! I forgot to pack my GT disc for my trip to DC. I hope I can get some laps in on the Monday before deadline... I hope everyone has a blast.... I'll be watching the thread all week with envy :sly:

But I wasn't that bad in the JGTC round 7 @ Suzuka

Porbably you have misstype your T2 because it only reflects a 1.5s difference, not 4 seconds as you are saying...

Forgot to say that I use 290 maxspeed

Pfft! Your opinion's wrong! I loved the last two weeks! Hahaha, just playing mate, but seriously, I loved the last two weeks. Just goes to show that you can't please everyone every week! 👍

And, Neil, I was somewhat suprised by that... I think it was mainly my car's ability to just be able to be floored all the time and because it was pretty light at the same time. The Altezza doesn't have enough torque to understeer too much in the turns, so it can go through the turns pretty damn well, and on Suzuka, there are a lot of them, especially switchbacks. I'm not normally fast at Suzuka either, so...?

We'll see what I manage in a second... Going to go race for 15 min before I go to work. :e-shrug:

(We need an e-shrug smiley... Is there somewhere where I can suggest adding one to the forums?)

That was after more than the initial 15 minutes I planned to spend on the combo... Took a while to get used to the car and it's understeery tendencies compared to what I've recently been driving. My first lap was almost slower than my JGTC qualifier... The Altezza was going sooooo much faster through the turns than I, lol. But the double horsepower helped quite a bit on the straighter sections. Now I'm a few seconds down under the qualifier, so that makes me feel better. This lap was my first one where I didn't do anything blatantly wrong, so it'll mainly just be whittling away from here. I think I may switch to 290 gearing next time as well, this was on 300 gearing. Time for work!

Haven't bought this car yet, and started F1 series yesterday so I can't exit out to purchase the Falcon. :irked:
(Well, I could but it'll destroy my days & win ratio thing. ;) So I won't! :P )

No times for me this week. :guilty: Off to Boston at the weekend too, so next week is out of the question too. :(

You mean 1.5 seconds slower than the FASTEST splits posted currently? :sly: Lol.

Yup, you guys are right!(for a change:sly: ) typo in my second split. It should be 1'32.052

It was a hard night last night at pool practice, and misses took advantange too. So not enough sleep and bleary eyes caused some numerical dyslexia.

And yes this is one understeery b;tch when you get right up to the limit round the esses and anti-bank corners, the exit to the spoon's a little hairy too!

Second - When you talk about your gearing (i.e. 280 or 300 or whatev) what are you refering too. I didnt think you could change that in arcade mode. Or are you changing it in GT mode and using the car out of your garage?

First off, welcome to the jungle mate!👍
If you have done the qualifier race detailed HERE, and read the FAQ's thread HERE, you can jump into the alien infested waters of the WRS now.
Just PM your qualifying lap time to Cyril (Flat-out) and start chasing the dream!

Second, we are not talking 'lap-times' here we are talking about 'split-times' (y'know the 'T' times that pop up on the screen as you drive around the tracks) and we are allowed to talk about them, so it's fine for you to, too!

The top speed setting is in the 'quick-tune' section (the tool-box icon) and you can adjust the Hp,weight,top-speed(in race cars),set ASM/TCS choice and tyre compounds in there.

Any more questions, that aren't covered in the FAQ's, ask and someone will answer. We are all mates on here!

T2 1'30.328 (Nearly 2 seconds) DEFINATELY NOT A TYPO! :cool:

Not quite a fast as my typo earlier, but good enough to keep me happy for tonite, maybe!

This is quite fun! Understeery, but fun!
