all buttons panted flat black skate board grip tape, spacers under paddle shifters to give room for fingers

Just looks really ugly to me now, but thats just my opinion, not looking to get flamed here. Each to their own.

the black is not bad,
rewrite gt3rs on it with a sticker in black matt.

The sb-grip looks like smarovski on the photos due to the flash :)

Aren't you gonna grind / sore your finger tips off with that ??

Skateboard grip tape on the buttons? thats gonna be sore after a while.

Nope cause I used fine grit stuff that is like 120 grit sand paper it's not that corse like heavy grit 80 or something plus I'm a mechanic my hands have calluses all on tips of my fingers I don't feel any thing till it's to late and cut my self. The skate board tape sounds bad at first till you use it and know it's better I think anyway.

yeah it should work fine. My PWTS works fine with DiRT2 demo on PS3. and fanatec must be in contact with GT5. they have addressed issues in the past with gt5: p so there isnt really anything to worry about.

I play Prologue with my PWTS , I had to turn down the FF due to the shaking from Prologue being set for logitechs deadzone. I still run the original firmware, debating whether or not to upgrade it. I downloaded the newest firmware, but I may wait and see if the shake is still there in GT5 final before installing it.

I updated the firmware on my PWTS yesterday. I loaded GT5P and tweaked the wheel settings a bit. It works so much better now. I set a small deadzone on the steering and no abnormal shaking at all afterwards. I can actually let go of the wheel on the straights and the car stays straight where before it would be violently shaking on some tracks and would deffenitely wreck if you realeased the wheel on a straight.

I had 613 on mine befor updated to 681 which added about 3 more adjustable items into the wheel settings menu. It also changed the sensitivity settings available before it was just 4 or 5 settings like 240, 360, 540, OFF/900 after the new firmware it goes up by 10 degrees at a time so you can set it pretty much anywhere you wish between 10-900.

Did the updated firmware affect the handling in Forza 3 in any negative way?

UPDATE: I just did my firmware update from 613 to 681 using Win 7 x64 and had no issues at all except I needed to update the USB driver :)

There is just a very small amount of deadzone in the wheel now in Forza 3. Noticable but not really an impact on handling. You can also choose from more settings for max rotation of the wheel so in some ways it is better now. I switched from 240 degrees to 210 degrees not much different there but is a bit easier in the R1 cars on the tracks with a lot of quick turns.

I'll have to try Forza out now and see. I've always been using 270 degree as it seems the game was tailored to it because of the MS wheel. After I updated the firmware the first thing I noticed is the FF seems a lot stiffer :)

Also...

You can have 5 different profiles for the Fanatec wheels, so you can have deadzone set on profile 1 for GT5, and then have no deadzone set in profile 2 for Forza.

Yes I have the different profiles deadzone set at 20 for GT5P and 0 for Forza. However in Forza there is now a small bit of deadzone that was not there before.

Wow man, that black finish looks great!

Hi, check linearity as well, that must affect wheel response. Try a small Sen as well, to test.
Game SW, prob can be as big a issue(if not more so), for a lot of games, than what ever wheel you use.
The Worse things about Fanatec wheels, they have too many settings( never mind the game settings), the Best things about about Fanatec wheels, they have loads of settings :) , to cater for most things.

Cheers BOB

It would be nice to have a description of all the settings. The manual only has the older set of settings. I am not sure what some of the newer ones are for. I know there is Setting # Sensitivity Shock FFB ABS Steering Deadzone shifter settings, not sure about the others. Anyone know what the others are for?

I agree, the buttons look stock other than the grip tape. If it was completely black it might of been cooler.

If you really feel like making the second wheel differed could you try sticking a Momo on there. I swapped my gt3rs wheel onto my pwts and I think it can be done but I don't want to be the one to figure it out.

Hi, don't think Fanatec will ever stop innovating :) . Does make probs for peeps, like manuals, settings etc, frustrated me a bit, prob still does a bit. Even if you keep to older functions etc(& work out what they are for/ do etc), wheel is still OK. Like as said, if it works OK for you, leave it alone if you want, & your'e prob not missing out on much.
If you start getting too tech, about what things are for it can be a bit off putting for some, just mess about if needed. Mind if some of tech is explained a bit more from Fanatec, some peeps, might be able to explain it in a more easier understood format.
It is a bit of a learning curve :) , at first even simple things look complicated, but you do get to understand better. So bear with it.
One thing, it seems, if you buy a Fanatec product, expect a latter product to maybe be improved(not just SW/ FW etc), not that what you have is a inferior product, lots improve there stuff, but don't tell you. Good luck to future buyers( & not just Fanatec buyers, look at other stuff) or it could even be you again :)

Cheers BOB

I have a question... in GT5 in the wheel hardware options, what 'wheel' do you choose? I have a gt3rsv2

You don't need to choose any wheel to use it, but if you want to reassign buttons, then I am pretty sure you use the Driving Force Pro.
