The Car DLC @ the Track DLC
All of the following videos were recorded off my phone – I was filming my TV screen. The first video (the one of the X2010) is in HD but the others are in High Quality only. It would take too long to upload all of the videos in HD to YouTube so I just had to lessen the quality slightly.
All of the cars only had one oil change and a car wash; they were otherwise stock. I ran all the laps on Racing Soft tyres with no tuning whatsoever. I didn’t even paint the cars or change their rims. Max downforce was always applied. The runs took place in Practice, not in My Lounge.
I race with a DualShock 3 controller. My TCS is always set to off, I always use Manual gears, my Driving Line is always set to off, SRF, AS, ASM are always set to off, ABS is always set to 1, Tyre/Fuel Depletion is always set to on, Grip Reduction is always set to ‘Real’, Mechanical Damage is always set to ‘Light’ and my Controller Steering Sensitivity is always set to 2. Track settings were all always at 0. The laps were not designed to be fast, but clean.
You thought the X2010 was mad? The X2011 will blow your brains out. Less drag on the X2011 REALLY makes a difference. It’s faster in a straight line but feels heavier through the corners, which is actually nice. I didn’t like the loose feeling of the X2010 and the X2011 feels nicer, if not easier to drive. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a beast, but I just prefer it.
Corners I was taking in 2nd in the X2010 were taken in 4th or 5th in the X2011. The lap time in the X2011 was about 3 seconds faster in pretty much the same circumstances – just getting a clean lap. Not a perfect or fast one, but one where I stayed on the circuit. Tip – wait until you hit 251+mph just after the top of Eau Rouge before changing up to 7th to enable you to be able to keep your speed down the straight. You won’t go above the top speed you hit at the top of Eau Rouge.
Heavy, understeery and lots of wheelspin. Yes I did run wide towards the end(out of the white lines) but it doesn’t count in a situation like this!
The first and only CRZ I own in GT5. Instantly rubbish because it’s a Hybrid. Can take Eau Rouge flat out though. Ludicrous body kit on the car but it’s very sticky – not too much to show on the speed front though.
This one is definitely up there with the best looking DLC cars. You’d expect a Touring Car version to have a roof, but this one doesn’t and that’s awesome. To drive? It’s basically the CR-Z but with a normal engine, a normal body kit and sounds better.
I haven’t done a video for the RX-7 because amar has already famously done one. I will say what it’s like to drive though. Like the Roadster on steroids but with less grip.
The XTC is a pure rally car. It sounds like one, it looks like one, it drives like one. Lots of grip, lots of fun. Sorry for the talking in this video – I was on TS at the time.
Doesn’t handle as well as you’d think for an R35. It’s clumsy and can’t go through Eau Rouge flat out. Boooo.
Looks mean outside. Looks awesome inside.
Oversized on the screen for some reason. Looks and feels like an old school Japanese racer though. Nice handling characteristics, better than the R33 and R35.
The Skyline that comes in a gazillion variations now comes in one more. Looks like any other tricked out R34 on the inside and out, and drives like one. Easy to drive. However, LED brake lights like in JGTC is a nice feature!
Good noise. A stereotypical touring car right here, and that’s a good thing.
This is the only DLC car that I’ll give a lengthy review of. First of all, choosing to tune a Hybrid is like buying a salad then pouring chocolate sauce all over it. Inside, the car has none of the LCD screens of the normal version - handy if you want to know absolutely nothing about a car that runs on a battery and requires constant monitoring by the driver to make sure the car has enough charge and when the car switches to petrol.
Out on the circuit, you can have the joy of charming your ears to the harmonious sounds of the Prius orchestra. The TC version has been tuned so that it basically sounds like someone playing around with a generator, turning it off and on all the time. HUUMMMMMMMMM(accelerating)-MMAAAAAAaahhhhh(braking).
Of course, you only have one gear to make you go forward; so choosing what gear to use to go through Eau Rouge is really easy. The car has to be driven differently to a normal car and going back to a car with proper gears is like going back to a normal car after driving the Red Bull X2010 or X2011. So from that, I’ve worked out that the Prius TC is exactly like a Red Bull X2010 or X2011.
And lastly, here’s the Kart Spaces, driven in a PDI RACING KART 125.
This all took around 2 days to do.
The Car DLC
Since you can only buy these cars once, any parts added to them that are permanent (Engine tuning, e.t.c) are stuck on the car until the end of time. Irregularities and/or abnormalities are in bold. Noticed something while doing this: quickly scroll through the rims in GT Auto and you’ll see the brake calliper changes according to what set of rims has been chosen. I don’t know if this is new, but I’d never seen or noticed it before.
