You don't have to "re-buy" the DLC just download. Hopefully you made a back-up?????

ys, the dlcs are there to reinstal. but no backup, just a few pics. sad but true. gt5 was freezing a lot so beware and do backup as soon as possible.

ps3 should have a backup/restore.its easy and dont takes much disc space

And where would you like it to store the back-up...on the HDD? It takes 10 seconds to do a back-up on a usb stick. I'd rather corrupt that than have the possibility of corrupting all my save data, if saved on PS3.

delta 795 - ys external backup is always better but having that on ps3 would be good, PCs do that.
noisaturismo - well...ys, big mistake ... stupid

sorry for the question but ...
it's the first time i do a thread, is there a way to close it now? or delete, i don't kow

Aaaargh - my game save data got corrupted, my fault, I tried to switch the PS3 off whilst GT5 was saving

So I just lost my main account game save, Level 40 A-Spec & B-spec, 1,196 cars (almost everyone)

Fortunately I backed up onto a memory stick the day before yesterday!
So lost a little progress - I did a bit of house-keeping: updating favourite, changing oil, painting & purchasing wheels

Please Please back up your game saves

[I know this message has been repeated several times, but I would have been a bit annoyed with myself If I had of lost so much - I hope it reminds others to back up their game save]

Interestingly, the both Toyota 86 GT '12 & Toyota FT-86 II Concept were sent as gift tickets. So sent the concept ticket to my second account! Seemed rude not too!

I have the same problem. I lost 14.01.2012, my file weight 3405kb and I lost everything too. I think that problem with savegames isn't finished by PD... magic 3400kb...? Who knows...

You happen to still have that corrupted save?

Thanks to today's ****ing PS3 firmware update, I just corrupted my GT5 save data file.

When entering GT5, I got the message about not being able to sign in to PSN (pardon, it's ****ing "SEN" now) before updating the system. Right after that, I chose "Quit game" and bang... after the update I entered GT5 and got the adjust screen option...

Freaking idiots, why do we have an option to "Quit game" if the stupid system can't quit the game when it should??

My last backup dates from 06/2011... I'm genuinely pissed.

Hi there
I´ll follow your post....I´ve got the same problem.
Updated and then my game are gone...:(
I have a corrupt map dated yesterday where I updated, but is seems that I only can "open" it if I have Playstation Plus.

Hi all,
A newby!
Like so many I took for granted "no need to back up, all is good" WRONG!!!!!!!!!!
Tonight I downloaded the latest update for PS3 and you know the rest.
I have lost 14 months and countless hours as have most of you....1482 cars ( all plus extras A spec lvl 40 ..... B spec lvl 34 and 20mill credits.
I have the "corrupted data" file showing on the screen but cannot access it?
Shove GT5 to the crapper.
Any news on GT6 with a USB stick as a gift for future "failures?"
Cheers

Yes, with a backup. :D

Btw. can you hear the following song when you start up the game with your corrupted game save?:

gt5 is the only game i care and is the only i think to be great but...

Seriously, if you would care then you would have tons of GT5 backups stored on your PC. Like me. :sly:

I really find it hard to believe over a year into the game people don't do a backup.

I don't understand it either. Backing up takes 5 seconds of your time each time you leave the game. This is one of the great features of GT5. (Not so lucky if you play Forza. You just pray your hard drive never crashes.) Every time I see a new thread whining about losing a game save I get angrier and angrier because there is NO excuse for it whatsoever.

I've been backing up my file more and more lately. There have been way too many of these types of stories around here.

At the very least you should be doing one before updates.

My last back up was November. Just lost all the stuff I've done since then. Not a massive problem as I have both Level 40s and all the cars in the game and 20 million. It's just really really annoying. It could even push me away from GT5.

I have heard enough horror stories and, this thread is the exact reason why:
-- every month I save my GT5 data to two (2) flash drives/memory sticks.
-- I save the same data on my computer hard drive.
-- I save the same data on an external HDD which backs up my computer data (my documents).

just another lesson learned. always always always backup your stuff even when everything is running good

nice work dude..we do the same. However, only your number 3 paragraph I did not do because I don't have external hdd.:)

:scared:Save to USB stick all the way,i do it for both disc's(U.S. & AU).On my U.S. pigboy im 40/40,100 cars,id happily give it away if i could to help somebody but i cant,i barely use the U.S. disc now, sorry
..and i save it after every game
.....and i did the firmware update first and have no problems although i havent started playing yet, just sitting here wondering if i should play,if its safe to do so ....:scared::nervous::indiff::sick::crazy:

I do mine every day, to a USB stick then onto the PC's hard drive. I can't imagine doing it only once a month...

I'm glad I did with update 2.04 the game would refuse to boot up it just hung at the GT5 logo... not everytime, but more than once. It seems Sony knew about it also and they released an update quick... reloading a previous backup got it working again and since it was only a recent backup I didn't lose much progress.

seems other people have had similar problems:

Look at it this way - did you enjoy your year with GT5?

Do you play to rack up achievements or because you love the game?

My suggestion would be just to play the bits you like and carry on enjoying yourself.

And back up your save game.

Smae thing happend to me as all you guys. I was exiting an online lobby while sending a friend a message, my ps3 froze up while gt5 was saving. Went on the following day and i got the infamous 'welcome to the world of gran turismo' message... -_-

GT5 is like a dog..always happy to see you even when your save is gone because GT5 ruined it...

The question is not if GT5 will crash but when....
