Is this system more fair than the one there is now?

I have an idea that could be used for round two.

Each qualified driver gets a specific amount of time to post his fastest lap.

This way the best driver will stand out more clearly than he would be if the time was endless like now.

And also, this system could save lots of time.

So,if you are in the top 20 of your country when round 1 ends, you then have one week deadline to post your fastest lap,but only 2 hours on the track with each car-track combo.(if they are more than one)

I totally agree - if you are in the top 20, you are good anyway. If you really do have what it takes, you'll be able to pull off those laps somewhat consistently. For those who hit the fast time only after countless laps in a given session, limiting time on the track is a fair way to weed those out.

i think a specific amount of laps instead of a specific amount of time. and the further you progress in the competition the fewer laps you get.

I'm pretty sure the finals work like this anyway. the first part involves everyone setting laps for a while and the slowest are knocked out. Then the remaining players go head to head. I wasn't at the competition before so hopefully someone who was can verify this. But after watching episode one of GT Academy 08 on GT-TV it seems like thats how its done.

I voted yes, but just fyi, the same guys would be up top.
Take a look over in the WRS, they've done things along that line, and also ones where you need 3 laps in a row, etc, and guess what? It only made the fast guys even FASTER then the rest.

I don't agree that it is more fair... But it is a better way to find the faster drivers.

If i ever made it to top 20 i would be one of those drivers unfairly knocked out due to a time limit. But thats hard luck, you have to be consistently fast to be a racing driver.

The rounds were time trials in which you had three laps to do your best and the worst players in each round were eliminated 👍

They should have included damage, you wreck your car you have to wait for an hour till it's "fixed", and you can't use it until it is fixed.

Something along those lines will be awesome in the future with damage on GT5. Crazy perfect 110% push laps will not happen because the risk x reward will be vastly different.

Great idea for the future competitions:tup:

The only problem is 3 laps is not enough, 3 laps show nothing...it does not unnearth any talent. I totally agree with a limited time though similar to a typical motorsport competition weekend.

I agree with the limited time to show your skills. I have spent 2.5 hours with normal and 1.5 hours with tuned car so far. I can't practice more than 1-1.5 hours because I get bored with the time trial.
