..Hi everybody.. I'm reading everyday here.. it's great.. :) but I'm new for posting.. and suddenly sorry for my english (I'm swiss GT fan)!

straight to the point.. here's the external visual from Germany

and I was excited beacause for the first time you can finally see the car "turning" it self during a curve...!! to me it was the only problem with gt.. and I say wow the fix it! ;)

..and than TGS come.. and

...the external view still back locked behind the car... still I can't see the side of the car when it's turning..

please I have to say it to PD..... :sly: tell me what you think.. I can't really understand this change....

I think it was GT2 when you had the option to choose from both 👍 That's the way it should be this time too.

GT3 had that view (loose external cam, not fixed solid) and many were upset when GT4 came with only the fixed version. They seem to play around with the views a lot and you don't know what the final game will get.

They can do what they want with the external view - last time I drove my car I was not floating ten feet up and ten feet behind the car... I have no idea how people play using that view - you have no comprehension of how much the car is turning, and just spend all the time correcting under and oversteer. Put simply, that view is for lamers!

Everybody has its own preferences...
So you don't have to call them lamers...
But okay, I never never never use that view neither,
you don't feel anything with that view.

Put simply insulting people, either individually or collectively because the hold a different opinion or preference to you is not needed here at GT Planet.

You have been warned many times before, you didn't take any notice, now you are gone.

I like the second video more.
First thing I do in many racing games, is turn off the "effect" seen in the first video. It makes me nauseous.

I like the camera in the first video. The second video's camera seems too 'stiff' like the car is always just going straight forward especially on big turns.

Yeah, I agree, they should make the camera more loose. That way you can actually feel your car's behaviour better, in GT5P I have to use bumper cam because of that, but I'd want to see my car in its whole glory! :D

Maybe they could give us both/ more options, too?! 💡

👍

Video one is the way to go. Period.

I complained at the fixed external view so many times already and I am happy they got it fixed now.

..I didn't remember..! ;) ..great and thanks for the answer! I hope so... and I think so... I don't see much sense to show us sometihing that they will not bring.. at least more options they give us more interesting! ;)

Agreed, the GT3 chasecam is kind of perfect for a good run about in a car for the first time, as well as drifting!~ It's so much easier to see your car's angle relative to the corner, as well as actually being able to see the exit of the corner... But for competitive racing the in car cam seems to work best, you get the view of the track and responce.
Then came GT4...

👍👍

concerning the topic: I would like the loose camera way better even though I never use it :D

I dont, care, we got cockpits, and bumper cams!

If only we had HOOD view as well. Other then that I do not care about 3rd perspective cam.

I prefer the lose camera they showed, I think the fixed cam makes it harder to judge how much you need to turn.

Oh snap!! Nomino got banned?

There a hood view in GT5p I'm just not sure which one, but I think it's the XK coupe not sure. I'll check it out later.

not a big fan of the "swinging" cam in the first video.. makes it harder to judge whether youre staying on the line through the apex. although i think GT3 had that and after a while i got used to it, and drifting around corners felt pretty natural

Same here. I really like the TGS version better. If anything, the one from GC reminds me of the Supercar Challenge beta I played. The car was swinging way too much compared to the camera. Honestly it wasn't a good experience.

I drift a lot in GT5P (mainly 3rd person, especially when tandeming and filming), and if the car swings around like the one in GT, I think I'm gonna have a harder time doing so. It would seem like I'm oversteering too much with respective to the track.

You just have to get used to it and after that you dont want the fixed view anymore.

How do I know ? Because I have played Mercedes Benz World Racing (PC) alot and the swinging external view was simply fantastic.

BTW: Mercedes Benz World Racing (PC) has the best physics I have ever experienced in a racing game.

A lot of people do, though, as the modeling of the intricate details would otherwise go unnoticed if there weren't external cameras.

Yeah, I'm gonna be using the cockpit view almost exclusively, but when I first hop in that SuperGT GT-R or Lamborghini Gallardo, I'm gonna want to see the sexy curves, too.

I like the stability of the second video. It's more like GT4's chase cam, which was perfect in my opinion. Still PD needs to bring the camera farther down and closer in. The way it is in GT5P, the car is too small and the angle makes it harder to control, you feel very detached.

Thats what I watch replays for. :)

I do not use the external cam view anymore, but when I used to in the earlier GT games I enjoyed watching the car actually "turn" around the corner. GT4's external cam ruined it for me and that's when I changed to the bumper cam.

Glad to see the older external cam return for GT5. Might have another go with it for fun.

The bumper cam in GT is placed quite high up, I think it's more a hood cam without showing the hood.

There should be more camera options, like a bump cam very close to the road, and a hood cam (with hood!).

As for the third person view. The fixed camera looks really silly if you ask me. My little brother told me last week when he saw GT5P in third person view (when I show my ride) that it was a big no no. The third person camera in that first video looks definitely much better, like it should be imo. But as some people disagree on that, why not have both options?

It's a preference, but I prefer the more rigid, locked view that GT4 has. Why? If the camera stays glued to the exact rear shot, if I'm trying to correct oversteer I have a far more accurate representation on screen of how extreme the car is angled through the curve. The more loose cam always felt artificial to me; it looked like the car was rotating on an axis and it messed with my timing a lot.

Mind you, I'm sure I'll be using it a lot less with cockpit views available.

I really love the cockpit cam and won't be using the chase cam. I will only use it during drifting so that I can see my car going sideways...

hi guys .. an update to that point today directly from ub blog!! ;o) after I asked the same question and another user bring it up.. than the answer:

Someone did bring this issue up with us directly a while ago (was that you mclaren?) and I’ve discussed this with the developer… frankly it is not a ‘problem’, more of a matter of preference, and we may end up having both types co-exist.
