GT5 hasn't a real sterring wheel rotation

It is a common bug (see PGR,TDU etc).

They don't understand that in a REAL car the steering wheel rotates for about 900° and not just 180° like they do.

They also have done perfect steering wheels that have a real rotation, for GT (the Logitech DFP Pro etc) but they they don't do a REAL rotation in the game,it is a shame!

Welcome to GTP.

However, I'm not quite sure of your point.

  • The DFP and G25 both have 900 degrees of rotation, and both can be used in GT4.
  • We don't know what GT5 will do as its not out yet
  • Not all real life cars have 900 degrees of steering

Not to mention, you don't use all 900 (or whatever) degrees in actual races, unless you hit a corner like that first gear hairpin at Monaco. No doubt, as popular as wheels like the DFP are, GT5 will support them. There just hasnt' been a tight enough corner in the game to showcase that the interior view steering wheel can't spin all the way 'round. 'least, not from what I've seen.

That as well. I knew I'd missed something. 💡

I've seen it at least once where the driver has gone hand over hand because he's turned tighter than that.

Also not to mention KY did say they have details to fix up before GT5P's release (drivers hands being one of them).

I rarely turn my car's steering wheel more than 90 degrees in either direction, at any speed over about 30mph. And that's a tire-squealing sharp turn. I see no reason for a race car driver to do it at 120mph.

Having driven GT4 with a DFP for a significant length of time, taking practically every car for a spin around the 'Ring, I don't recall ever having to use more than 180 degree turning unless I spun out or went off the track. It just doesn't happen in racing.

That said, in the one or two videos I've seen of GT5P (I haven't watched them all, not by a long shot), I've seen the driver do hand-over-hand when he spins out. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure they do it in GTHD, too.

So you're complaining about something that's not even there.

That is not the point. If you turn wheel any amount of degrees, game should follow. Even if you use only 180 degrees, game should display it as 180 ,not anything else.

It is there.PD admited it(french video) and they are working on it.(same for mirrors)

It seems like the in-car wheel will rotate 900 degrees only if you're using a 900 degree wheel to drive.

True, but that's not what the OP is talking about. He's talking about turning the wheel more than ninety degrees to take a high-speed corner. Doesn't work that way.

I wonder about the shifting rather than the turning. All the clips have been in automatic.
I want to see how the shifting looks!

Don't do much high-speed driving, do you? Here's an example.. I do this one almost every day when I go to work. There's a left-hand turn going down to the office. It's an open turn, so I can see if there are other cars coming down the road. Most people going that way slow down to around 15-20mph to take that corner. Me, I take it GT-style.. come in from the outside, hit the apex, let it run wide on the way out. I can take that turn at 45mph+. Great way of getting rid of some jackass in a SUV that's right on my bumper. By the time he/she takes that corner, I'm about 75 yards ahead of 'em. That's a high speed turn.. the car's leaning heavily, left-side tires are squealing from the weight shift, seatbelt's locked down... And the wheel's turned maybe 70-80 degrees, tops. And that's at only 40-45mph.

Take GT4 for a spin on the Nurburgring with a DFP in a decently-fast car. Count the number of times the wheel breaks ninetey degrees in either direction. The number will be a lot smaller than you think.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing here, though. I'm talking about the amount of turning a steering wheel makes on a race track at high speed.. what are you talking about? Unless we're talking about "The Real Parking Simulator", there really isn't much need for the wheel to turn to full lock.

When your drifitng you should never use full lock, unless you spin and come to a halt pointing in the wrong direction. The same applys to racing too, even in my car irl, I only use full lock when parking, or turning around.
