Hi guys, I just checked out EB Games' website, and it said its going to be released on 30/11/2010. Sorry if this is old news, but has anyone else GT5 dealer said anything like this?

Just have to comment on the Nascar thing. I'm from Holland so I grew up with F1 and other european race classes. Love F1 for many years now. Visited Spa, Nurburgring and twice Barcelona. Big fan. You get the picture...
This September I had the chance to visit a Nascar race on the Atlanta Motorspeedway. And I have to say I was blown away by the whole experience. We were able to visit the pits and thereafter we saw a 4 hour race. 4 hours!!!! And we weren't bored for a second. I can now totally understand the love people have for this kind of racing. The overview you have on an oval is great. You don't miss a single thing of the action.
If you ever have the chance to visit a Nascar race. I promiss you, you'll be pleasantly surprised....
I still prefer to watch F1 over a Nascar race on TV for all sorts of reasons. But if I had to choose between visiting an actual race. I trully believe I'd go for Nascar...

The noise man, the noise......unbelievable.

# The release date that comes from SCE or Polyphony Digital themselves is the actual, albeit projected, release date.
# A release date that comes from a shop, a shop's website, a shop employee or anything to do with a shop is not the release date unless there's a fluke coincidence

Right basically don't believe in a release date that isn't official from sony, this one you are talking abous is an example of a placeholder or a prediction from the store. Spread the word if you see anyone else do something similar.

For what it's worth, I just got an email from Best Buy (where I preordered) saying the game will be out on Dec 31.

Here's my opinion on the bikes on GT5 argument: I don't think the game would "feel" right with the two included, and I don't think it would do justice to either the cars or the bikes. Kart, Nascar, WRC, are all different disciplines of the same sport, but biking is a different sport altogether. At least that's my opinion. It would probably do bikes more justice to have a separate game designed around their peculiarities.

In a perfect world, after GT5 releases, PD would work on a TT sequel. Can you imagine it offering a scope for moto racing that could rival the scope GT5 offers for car racing?

👍

Go to a live NASCAR race. Totally different experience than watching it on TV.

I've been to 2 races and it's still a "meh" experience. I think it's a acquire taste, you'd either like it or don't, like "liver".
I'd still have fun playing it to beat career mode, just won't spend anymore time with it than I have to.

I just got an email from Best Buy that my pre-order will be shipped on December 31, 2010.

So gt is not a racing game ? wow forgive me but im sure 100% of the games content is racing or race orientated and if its an automotive history where are cars like the Bentley blower the Lotus 7 the ferrari 250gt?
All of these manufacturers are in the game but lack any of there truly historic models. time for a reality check it's a race game not a history lesson

Ofcourse GT is a racing game too but not exclusively unless you choose it to be exclusively ( which you could, that doesn't mean others can't perceive it differently ).
And those Benz and Daimler cars were probably indeed added as a sort of history lesson, not a theoretic one but a practice one ( nothing wrong with that as the only chance of experiencing these cars and even make a judgement about them in the first place is through a videogame unless you're working as a curator in the Mercedes-Benz museum perhaps ).

But even though I applauded the fact these 2 cars were included at all they weren't obviously the most exciting cars to drive in the whole history of the automobile or for that matter GT4 ( they were however significant and appropriate to be added in my opinion but even to me they were essentially trivia as I didn't get a lot of mileage on both cars ) I'll give you that.
This isn't true of the Jay Leno Tank Car or Ford Model-T examples you mentioned as I did genuinely enjoy driving them ( as it was possible to actually get that Model-T sideways and I enjoyed that Tank Car for being basically a fast Peterbilt hot rod ).

The examples you mentioned in the post I quoted ( and I could give endless more suggestions ) are indeed far more exciting to drive and more useful in a game like GT and I will admit these cars are in my opinion more "worthy" of receiving the full Premium treatment than those 19th Century ones.
But I won't suggest they were pointless, at least they made us aware that thankfully we aren't living in the 19th Century carwise ( or at all ) anymore due to them being featured as just 2 trivial additions in a game consisting of hundreds of other more useful cars.
Now bring on that Bentley Blower.....

Back to Dubstep for a second, this guy actually makes it look kinda cool...

But the greatest thing is the first comment.

Regarding bikes, why not? It's not like the game is going to get delayed again for it. If it's in, then it is already in. And if we get a nice surprise and get bikes, then I don't see how that is a bad thing. :odd:

Exactly if they were going to put them in they would already be in it's not like Kaz would just have the idea to do it come on people, bikes would be a nice addition.

I'm thinking it'll be out by thanksgiving. They said they'll have a new release date by the end of THIS MONTH, correct? Remember guys, it's still October. So that could potentially mean we'll still see this game in November. If it was 3 days late to Sony, that's not going to equate to 3 months wait. I think 4 or 5 weeks might be more appropriate.

I thought they would update us at the end of the month.
Knowing their definitely going to give us a release date cheers me up.

Thanks.

I believe the long wait has to do with production slots. But wouldn't GT5 have slots open to GT5 for next few months to meet production demands? Or do they just produce all the units in one go then wait for them to run to produce more?

If the former, then a November release is very well possible. If the latter, then we gotta wait a while. So could anyone answer the question?

I don't think any game in the scope and size (in terms of sales) is produced in one go. I wouldn't think they'd make 5million copies all at once. I'd say they can have more ready by the time GT5 is out. Maybe, it was rumored, that this is the problem. That demand was higher than supply? No one knows for sure though.

The noise man, the noise......unbelievable.

You think the noise at Atlanta is loud you should hear the thunder at Bristol. Nothing can compare 160,000 screaming (over half of them drunk) fans in a 1/2 mile track. Two times more fans than Bristol, Tn/Va has people all stuffed into a very small track.

Camping is just as fun until you have to pack everything up and take that long 5 mile drive home:

Yep. But, two different retailers coming out on the same day with the same date, I don't know about that.

Don't know about the U.S. but around the 31st December there ain't no post in the U.K. not until about the 2nd or 3rd of January, no way is GT5 launching on New Years Eve.

They would of been told before 2011. So they say the last possible day to be safe.

We have been told a few times it's before Christmas anyway.

The worst thing about the motorcycle conversation is that it devolved to a point of no return. It just got worse and worse. :yuck:

There are people arguing motorcycles have no place in the GT series. Well, I think it is obvious that motorcycles are part of PD's vision. Just look to Tourist Trophy as evidence of that. Later on, in GT HD, it was apparent that a merging of both automobiles and motorcycles was acceptable with Regards to PD's vision. PD doesn't have a problem with the issue that many are very resistant to. Why? Think about it.

I know that there is no date yet, but at GameStop in the US, they have the release posted as 1/11/11. I'm sure this is just a conservative aprroach to the release of a game that has been delayed about half a dozen times already though, and I wouldn't expect it to be too far after the US release of LBP 2.
