even with with gt4 they atleast had updates on what little was being done to the game. It's like with gt5 PD is keeping every thing a secret.
After GT4 was officially announced, I recall the floodgates opening and all manner of media was released. GT5 has yet to be announced.

Add to the fact that Prologue hasn't been updated as usual, plus Amar's tantalizing post, and it's possible that Kaz and the lads are about to spring something very big on us. When? Maybe as late as E3, but time passes. It will be here before long.

I'm actually hopeful for a lot of cars in GT5, and all the tracks from previous GTs and then some. I know that modeling interiors and implementing damage is perhaps double the workload per car and then some, but it has been a long time in coming. And if they give us a livery editor, I'll be happily creating cars till I die anyway.

I was flicking through old pre GT5P pictures and I noticed something.. I noticed a picture of a Evo X shown off in Famatsu magazine quite a while ago was wearing a different set of wheels, which was the first images of the Evo X in GT.

Checking the real life concept which didn't match I went to the Mitsubishi Japan website to check options, this wheel is one of three Evo X option wheels but the Evo X in GT5P wears the BBS option (most expensive), which means PD have modelled atleast two options.

This leads to the possibility that we maybe able to choose vehicle options in the dealerships now besides colour? similar to Test Drive unlimited, I sure hope so. I think the GT5P version was fitted out in the most expensive way (GSR, SST, BBS etc)

The pic (ignore the box around the mirror, I later realised the red mirror base (should be black) is caused from the colour bloom)

I have a feeling they'll follow the usual shop map scheme which has been a staple of Gran Turismo since the early days. You may be right though.

If I recall, GT4 had a kind of mixed version of this, in which you could get upgrades from the dealerships, and with the Japanese cars at least, there was also Tuner Village. Would you like dealer options, manufacturer options, as well as high performance tuner and racing options? While in this ADD world we live in, it might make more sense to have the game consolidate stuff like that, so that you'd go to one place - one stop shopping - for upgrades on all your cars. Kind of like a worldwide Autobacs. But I rather like the idea of going to different places for different options, so that you could get some upgrades at your BMW dealership, and more advanced options at a Tuner Village or Racing League Valley.

Personally I wan't the vehicle options like when you get your colour option, if PD made modelled all the optional wheels for the car then it would be really easy, except like in real life these options should come at a extra cost."

It would make peoples choices more unique and realistic, sure you could ignore it then go to a wheel shop and buy some Rays/Volks, BBS etc later but it would at that extra bit of choice for me.

Looks like we'll get factory options like wheel and interior choices. Sounds nice.
On the aftermarket wheel options, i'll be disappointed if we don't have the choice of different wheel sizes.

I'm hopeful that Kaz and the lads cram in as much of the real world of motorsports as they possibly can. I know bringing up Forza causes rankles among some, but Turn 10 did a great job in giving the player all the tools to modify or even race modify their cars to the nth degree, short of chassis and axle widening. I'd go crazy if Poly gave us full blown Tuner Village and Race Modification upgrading of just about every car in the game. What would be just about as good is giving us blank race cars to add our own distinct liveries to. And I'd enjoy tinkering with different wheel and tire sizes like I did in Forza 2.

Along with that, I'd like them to polish up the low speed physics and tire grip dynamics, which still seem just a bit off. Or, maybe it's just being careful to match the tire screeches to the grip dynamic, but it does seem that the cars bog a bit in slow turns.

LOL, random thoughts of the day.

GT5 should be called GT5:TRD (No, not Toyota Racing Development, The Real Deal)

Imagine the running time on a movie about the making of GT5.

No, that's what GT6 should be called. 6 for me seems a way too high number for the GT series, so they should just convert to letters from then on!

New contest, with free Logitech stuff, starting this week:

Take the Logitech Challenge in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
Posted by Chris Pate // Global Product Marketing Manager, Logitech

Hey, racing fans. This is Chris Pate, Global Product Marketing Manager at Logitech for all of our steering controllers. I am happy to announce that we are partnering with Gran Turismo to hold an exciting online racing event, the Logitech Challenge.

Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday March 18, 2009, there will be three one-week long online competitions in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, where players compete for the fastest lap time using the specified course and vehicle class. Each week, the top three players will be selected to receive some great prizes from Logitech, including some of our best wheel controllers. Additionally, five players will be selected randomly, regardless of lap time, from among all of the race participants for the week to receive our latest Driving Force GT wheel. To compete, just boot up the game, go to the Online Events section of the main menu, and look for the Logitech Challenge event. Then you just enter the event and post your best lap time.

Here’s exactly what’s at stake for the winners. The third place winner each week will receive a Logitech Driving Force Wireless wheel and a Logitech V470 Cordless Laser Mouse. The second place winner will receive a Logitech Driving Force Wireless wheel and Logitech Z-5 speakers. The first place winner each week will receive a Logitech Driving Force GT wheel, Logitech Audio Hub speakers, and a Logitech V470 Cordless Laser Mouse. And five randomly selected players each week will receive a Logitech Driving Force GT wheel.

Winners will be announced after all three weeks’ competitions have ended. Players must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States to win. Upon completion of the competition, potential winners will be contacted so eligibility requirements can be verified. See here for complete contest rules.

Check the official Gran Turismo website at the beginning of each 1-week period, starting March 18, for information on the week’s course and car list, and to read driving tips to help you improve your lap time.

Learn more about Logitech’s Driving Force GT wheel here, which was designed to take advantage of exclusive Gran Turismo 5 Prologue features. You can also visit our website here and use the promo code “challenge09” to receive 10% off select PS3 products from Logitech.

Good luck, and happy racing!

EDIT: Reading through the comments I see the idea that we were promised updates turning Prologue into, or near to, the full GT5 still persists.

Well if this game should be "realistic" have every aspect in the game "realistic".. like realtime weather and daylight depending on which location of the race track you are going to racing on. There should be like rain, snow, foggy, clear etc. The driver should be able to turn on headlights, roll up the windows, put on a radio if your car is equipped with one.. turn on traction control when the rain comes down. things like that would be cool too + 700cars with 1080p GFx. wouldnt mind waiting until next spring for this...

i also heard they were going to include motorcycles like cbrs and ninja like they said in 2008. unless they cancled that project.

Don't know where you heard that but it's not true. In 2005 (or 2006) E3 IIRC PD showed off a GT4 based GTHD (High res GT4 models) that had high res Tourist trophy models in the same demo. This is something PD pulled out quickly just to show face as asked by Sony. PD never promised to include bikes at all.

No ps3 price cut.

Sony has issued its strongest statement yet to the growing chorus of gamers, publishers and analysts calling for a price cut on the PS3: "We do not have plans for a PS3 price drop, and any rumors to that effect are false and are the result of speculation." That's the statement the company gave Joystiq today, in an effort to squash buzz that the price drop was coming tomorrow. It's a bit different from the standard "we don't comment on speculation" response, and even clearer than the "we're focused on long-term profitability" line that Sony (NYSE: SNE) has been using in every interview.

Sony has contacted a number of blogs like Kotaku in advance of a "major" announcement tomorrow, but clearly, the news won't be about a cheaper PS3. As we noted before, the company is stuck between a rock and a hard place with its PS3 pricing: it's being outsold two-to-one by both the Xbox 360 and the Wii, but if Sony slashes the price to compete, it will dig itself further into the hole with manufacturing costs.

I also posted these news on the wrong thread before : https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=114526&page=44

what do you guys think of a junk yard in gt5 where u can go and sell your old/new damaged cars or buy old/new damaged cars for next to nothing of course you might be able to find some forgoten classic cars in the junk yard as well like the vw beetle, some classic uk cars, historic japanese cars, american muscle cars just about any car old that is worthy of being in gt5 what about a body shop where you can go to restore/repair your cars after crashing them and fully customise the new paint job etc... is this too much to ask for in gt5.

The idea does sound nice to me - though PD will make the decision in the end, and historically they prefer to add just 2 or 3 new features to the game, nothing drastic( launch deadlines will play a roll). We will just have to wait and see what they add.

can someone find out when the full gt5 will be released in japan from someone inside polyphony digital and post the date so everyone could have a better idea of how soon. i cant wait much longer i need to know whats going on with the damage too.
