ZOMGoodness!!!!! We have weather and night confirmed for GT5!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

The interview is a bit vague, it does not state if this is about GT5 and if the weather effects and night time racing are dynamic, so it could be just not dynamic, meaning you wont be able to do a 24hrs race of le mans..

But hopefully he does mean it will all be dynamic, meaning rain might come during the morning in the last few hours of le mans.. you have to pit in, get new tires, calculate how much fuel you have left and your brakes are wearing out, so you have to be carefull.. yum.. i dont know about you people but THAT sounds exciting to me!

But for now it's all guessing.. he says they are still working on it (what date is this interview from?)
Man.. if i were the interviewer and i had Yamauchi in front of me, i would not let him go before i knew EXACTLY if damage is going to be in, if all is dynamic (night/day cycle, weather effects) if there would be a 24 hours race, and if we in the west would get to see this title in 2009 or not.

I really... REALLY hate to say this, but we may only get vague tidbits like this until E3. If that, since we might not get much more over the next three weeks. After all, there has to be a storm at The Big Show, not a brief shower.

Oh no!

No information about GT5? Thats terrible...

Wow, only 3 weeks until E3? Cool, that didn't seem as long as I thought.:) Now that I'm old I know why the old people told me time flies when I was young.:scared:

I'm also very happy with the wheather and night racing coming up. So the game gets some more tactics. When it's raining, you have to pit in but are you choosing Full wets or intermediates? I hope it's all in GT5. I hope the races are not too hard but not too easy either.

Me too, if they include a mid-race save feature that is, don't think i'll be able to do a whole 24hours in one go.

Or an online multi player version where you swap over the driving seat to another member of say an 8 member team every 90mins therefore you would get two stints of 90mins 12hours apart. That would be brilliant if we could get teams full of GTP drivers.
(Note to self, dont build it up too much, you'll end up being disappointed) :P

I have been thinking about this too, GT mode played within robust online system against and with other players, that would be pure fantasy!

👍👍

doing enduro's as teams is a great shout

Now that would be great to have that option But I still want B-Spec back.

Okay, thoughts people.

What are peoples opinions on power loss with altitude?

For me it seems a no brainer, but everyone has an opinion right?

Some tracks are high in the mountains and as such, should really affect the way a car performs. Altitude affects various aspects of the car, perhaps most notable is reduced power output, particularly in naturally aspirated engines.

It raises an important point, should the test track be at sea level? to get most out of the car for max-speed test, I am sure that is what most people would like to see.

It brings a new tuning aspect to the table, the choice of naturally aspirated or forced induction becomes a little more complex, when racing at significant altitude(most likely whilst rallying), you might go for a supercharger instead. If Pikes peak were to be re-introduced, it would certainly be a factor to consider, at the top of pikes peak hill climb a naturally aspirated engine looses over 40% of its power.

Stevisiov, power loss associated with altitude suits me well, whether or not they could model it well is questionable, I imagine it must take some mathematics to get it right, but still, it would be better than nothing.👍

It'd just be altitude vs oxygen density or something wouldn't it?

Correct. That's all there is to it.

Paulie, a naturally aspirated engine looses about 3% power for every 1000ft.

It's not a perfectly linear relationship but its certainly not to complicated for PD or anyone who can do maths and is provided with the relevant data.

It less simple for forced induction engines, you need to know the boost pressure provided by the turbo/supercharger to determine the powerloss, but since PD have all that data for all the cars already programmed its just case of coding, something well within PD's capabilities.

If anyone's interested, I did some calculations on power loss for the Suzuki Escudo at pikes peak. It's fairly straight forward stuff actually.

Well then let them go ahead and do it, nothing wrong with that.👍

I ran across this video on youtube, wow, I did not know GT5P was capable of a crash looking like this. The R8 in this video gets screwed up so bad at the 1:00 mark.

You can see the car wanted to roll like a Nascar but due to rollover limitations was not allowed to.

So i have some news about Yamauchi san :)

First i'm sorry,i'm very late ( Lot of personal work) for the promised pictures and movies of the newest build of GT5 Prologue but i will post something this week (tomorrow perhaps).

Second,my wife(who works at the 24h museum) has managed to have him and his team visit the place at the time of the race !So i will meet him in person *does happy dance*
Count on me to ask a lot of questions !!

I bet we get some high quality Nürburgring footage, would be cool.

EDIT: Ahh no, Le Mans: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=15911202&postcount=9045

Watching the Nurburgring 24 Hours race now, and there is an Audi R8 GT3 racing and its sponsors are:

Playstation and Gran Turismo (on the car itself, not the banner on the front window).

Since there has just been a video of a R8 around Le Mans, it would make sense if that car would end up in GT5
