In the E3 '10 trailer... it confirms that the Stig will be in GT5... What if,Clarkson is also in GT5? I know it's kind of weird to feature a guy who does not have the skills as the Stig but...

If you look at the of the E3 '09 trailer... there are 2 things I want to point out.

1) Citroen driver in a Swiss city,he was not wearing a helmet.Instead he wore a beret and a pair of sunglasses
2) Mercedes SLR in Nurburgring, same clothes and same pair of spectacles..

What if Clarkson was in GT5 and he is driving a random car...and we can see his untidy hair.

Any ideas? :D

-- Visual Effects --
- Night, day, shadows, sunset, sunrise all simulated
- low/high beams
- lights will illuminate dust, fog, smoke
- Collision sparks
- Kicking up debris
- Horn

Yamauchi-san also mentioned:

-- Users will be able to race a full 24 Hours of Le Mans or Nurburgring.

-- Full NASCAR races available

-- There will be an available virtual driving school for GT beginners

-- In addition to Ferrari, more Formula 1 teams are expected

-- GT5 will be produced in 12 languages

Fog and Smoke? Could it be rain and forest fires?

Then why is everybody in such an uproar over it, why can't they say all cars have a cockpit view but no engine modeled etc.. :scared:

Because some people are forgetting that Cockpit view has been pretty much confirmed for a while now. Back in 2007, with GT5P. All cars modelled since then will have been modelled with cockpit view in mind.

If there was a 'standard' car in the demo down on the show floor, this whole bonanza could end.

I know, it's getting ridiculous. Translator-san should hit them on the head very hard with his little notebook.

gamestop mentioned they drove one of the Challengers..can't remember if they mentioned if it had a dash or not.

You mean Gamespot. Gamestop = Gaming Store. Gamespot = Gaming site.

Thank you sir in the article with euro gamer he also says the cockpit view looks good in 3D mode him saying that he could of said the 800 cars have no cockpit

All the cars in the E3 demo say premium.

NICE! Then the SRT8 Challenger and them can be mangled. :P I sure as heck hope that PD includes a "Playground" area like Turn10 did for Forza where people can cold Demo Derbies and stuff.

Also, I'm seeing Top Gear style "non-contact" racing coming in to play now.

Although I was wrong to say 'confirmed' in my last post; I've edited it now.

I still think this whole argument is pointless.

One last thought for you all;

In TGS '09, Kazunori Yamauchi replied in an interview with ign, that they had only started work on the damage model "2 Months" beforehand. That would make it the middle of 2009.

He also said, a great deal of extra detail had to be implemented into them in order to have body parts falling off and the like.

So why, did we see cockpit view and fully modelled interiors in the GT5:Prologue pre-release demo way back in 2007, if the whole idea of premium and standard cars, didn't materialise until late 2008/early 2009 or even as late as mid 2009 when they started to implement the damage model.

Actually, the idea of Standard and Premium cars has been around since GTHD when it they were going to release a game with about 70 cars and 3 tracks. Some cars would be high rez with an extremely high poly-count, with detailed interiors and everything, and the rest wouldn't. The idea also threatened to introduce micro-purchases where more and more cars would be released and then you could simply buy the ones you wanted. However, the community HATED this idea, so, GTHD was released which featured the "Premium" cars and 1 track and PD started working on the GT5 we're going to get.

But they used premium in a different context then. Hence why they are making it clear that 'premium' cars will be included with the game, as some might mis-interpret what it means.

*shrug* so that people don't whine and complain when they get the game, smash up a Challenger, but then get in a Ferrari and they can't smash it up.

I think it was just a lack of judgement. PD put way too much detail into some of their cars (Starting with the race cars, SuperGT + WRC, according the the TGS '09 interview). Then they realised how long it would take... So they took a bunch of the most anticipated/popular road models and added those to the list of 'premium' cars. At least that is how I see it.

That would explain how the polygon levels have jumped from 200k in Prologue to a rumoured 400-500k in GT5.

I wonder if that is why there are only 8 cars instead of 16 cars on the track at once.
If the polygons jumped to those levels than they would have to lessen the amount of cars on the track (The tank car in GT4).

Online races are confirmed to be up to (And therefore including) 16 cars... Your argument is invalid.

I've already proven there are more than 8 cars on the track at once. Even if I didn't have that proof, would PD really downgrade from 16 to 8. And, even if they did, wouldn't they have mentioned something about it in an interview yesterday?

This is sorta my complaint; don't get me wrong, all the new images look fantastic... but are they really twice as good as Prologue? No. I don't think 200k polys is skimping out . I'd of rather they stayed at that level and gave us more Premium models.

If you were a company about to release one of the biggest games of the year, and you had just cut the field of cars on track by half... would you really want to tell the rabid fanbase that?

Whats there to question? That this is just a demo and it's not even the final game yet people want to complain? It looks better than Prologue, looks better than NFS Shift, looks better than Forza 3, it's the best looking race game there is already, and it's just, like I said earlier, just a DEMO. Kaz said the graphics, the gameplay and the cars will look even better when the finished product is available in November. There's 5 months guys. We'll probably see more demos in the months leading up to the release.

While you do have a good point, this argument is irrelevant because there will be more than 8 cars on the track at once.

Doubling the poly count never means the cars will look twice as good. I think the increase in poly count per car is not really for the case that the car will look better, but more because it's required for features like damage.

-> I really don't know what really is the big deal about this cockpit view thing? Last E3 was the damage issue (besides the release date). Then before that, was the release date. There is always a new saga to crunch in after every conference. :indiff:
