Not racing together though I suspect, 16 online with 16 spectators

or it could mean private servers can host up to 32 if they have the bandwidth maybe...

http://www.ps3blog.net/2010/06/16/sony-releases-fact-sheet-for-gran-turismo-5/

•Support for 1-4 local players (split screen) and 16 online
•There is, of course, a damage model now, with the race cars featuring accurate performance and body damage based on point of impact and velocity (though, I would suspect all the cars will have performance-altering damage as well)
•Cars accumulate dirt, tires smoke, and bodies spark on roll-overs (so yes, the cars also roll over)
•Physics engine is brand new and will replace the Prologue engine
•Head tracking with PlayStation Eye to allow for looking around the cockpit, etc.
•More than 1000 licensed cars, including those from NASCAR to WRC to Super GT
•More than 20 tracks with 70 variations
•Gran Turismo TV has both SD and HD broadcast-quality video, and the video can also be exported to the GT PSP Museum
•Photo Album shots can be uploaded online to share, as well as replays from the Replay Album, which will be uploaded to YouTube
•Support for custom soundtracks
•Races can support up to 16 players online, but you can also create private lobbies, which can hold up to 32 racers
•Text and voice chat is supported, but be careful texting while driving
•Cars unlocked in GT PSP and GT5: Prologue will also be unlocked in your garage on GT5 for use in Arcade Mode

No 🤬 way!!! Looks like the issue of having enough cars on track for a Nascar race has been solved. Also love the idea of having both cars from prologue and PSP able to transfer over to GT5, which now means I have some added incentive to play GT5P before november

Cars will collect dirt (and can be washed at car washes) and will feature adaptive and accurate body deformation and performance damage based on point of impact and velocity (on select vehicles).

· PlayStation Eye camera features that add a new level of detail to the game, including face tracking for looking around the interior of vehicles while in the interior dash view.

That's just people losing patience. Let them vent.

Actually, the people with common sense, which by the way seem to be right, were the ones venting, after loosing patience with whiners that choose to believe the worst case scenario and come here stating it, and criticizing the game. Those are drama queens.

Like the car transfer thing. You can transfer, but you can only use them in arcade apparently, which is only fair, no cheating with a full garage in career mode :)

Most pleased hearing about spectating other people's races, flashable headlights and 24hr racing, gt5p car unlocks for arcade mode (possibly not to ruin GT mode, excellent; I also hope we can also choose different colours for arcade now)

What more we can wish for? :D
Dynamic weather, livery editor, rubber debris accumilating on track, better engine sounds? ;D

Circuit De La Sarthe is going to be awesome with that many cars on track.I sooo want to replicate the 3,2,1 finish of the 88 race of Silk Cut XJR-9LMs.

Anyone else wonder what it'd be like to have, at night, the car behind you with full beams whilst in cockpit view. In real life you'd be blinded.

Also what are they saving for Gamescom?
What about the TGS?

So if NYC track is in and they say you can race Nascars on any track.. I'm guessing it'll look something like this?

No where does it say you can race 32 players, it actually says clearly 16 can race, 32 for the lobby. Which might include driver swaps for enduros 💡

I like that the cars you bought in GT5P/GTM will only transfer to the arcade mode. Now I don't have think about whether to do it :)

Also 4 player offline multiplayer is very sweet in times where games tend to overlook that aspect

Surprisingly the fact sheet doesn't mention anything about damage, which I thought was a key addition.

fact sheet word for word
"cars will feature real-time visual damage with adaptive and accurate car deformation based on point of impact and velocity"

Right there.

Also think this qualifies as a confirmation for rollovers:
"sparks that fly from vehicle rollovers"

So the only things which are yet to be confirmed are the weather and Livery editor. But wouldn't be sad at all if those don't make it.

We have not seen any information regarding customization. Probably TGS since Japan is car mod crazy. 👍

These are my highlights:

Players can progress and acquire credits through a variety of modes like GT Career Mode, Championship Races, License Tests and more, or they can explore different tracks and circuit variations in Arcade Mode.

CARS THAT LOOK AND FEEL REAL
(definitely!)

CUSTOMIZE YOUR RIDE, AND YOUR GAME
· Photo Mode... (awesome!)
· Players can create custom soundtracks from music stored on their PS3s to play in-game. (I hope this means we can incluuude music, not replace the whole soundtrack list).

RACE AGAINST THE WORLD, ONLINE
· Online racing evolves in Gran Turismo 5 with robust racing options that are shaping up to deliver the deepest online racing experience available.

· Players who own Gran Turismo PSP and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue can transfer cars unlocked in that game directly to their garage in Gran Turismo 5 for use in Arcade Mode through special cross-talk interoperability.
· (Undoubyedly more to be revealed in the next four months, and trophies... meh) :P

"Players can also participate in a robust online system, and transfer vehicles unlocked in Gran Turismo® for PSP™ into their garage in Gran Turismo 5"

So arcade and online use, I guess? Makes sense. Allows people to go online faster, and rewards current GT5P players :)
