GT5 Photomode Calendar?

Couldn't find a thread asking this but would anyone be interested in helping to put together a GT5 calendar using GTplanet user shots?

I figure there could be 12 photo comps and the winner selected for each month would be in the final file which could then be uploaded to a place like cafe press or something for all to order.

To be clear, I am not looking to make profit, nor do I think it would be allowed using GT photos given the many copyright uncertainties.

Thoughts?

Ok, so... we're gonna have to figure out how to get this more attention then and honestly I'm not sure if I would have time to monitor all of it.

Anyone wanna help out?

I wouldn't mind helping out with this.

Best thing to do would probably be to put a thread in the photomode comp section and do it by month. Run submissions for 1-2 weeks, put up a poll and start the next month. If we go two weeks that should net us all 12 months by mid October if we start before the end of this month, which would be plenty of time to get it put together via whatever means.

What we would need to work out would be any restrictions on editing (don't think we need this) and what size images should be from an aspect ratio prespective. Did you have some kind of an idea of how we can get this put together and distributed?

To add to this, there should probably be theme's for each month, obviously a Christmas theme in September, summer theme in July etc., maybe a Le Mans theme in June. Also, maybe have a one picture limit for people, so that if they win a month, he won't be able to enter any of the others.

Maybe a list of the themes that would be used for each month ahead of time so people can pick which one(s) they really want to try for?

I`m in sounds great! I also agree with a theme for each month. Also think that the photos shouldn`t be edited.

I think this is going to be a subject of debate.

Personally I like the rules that are in place for existing photo comps that allow for basic editing: Lighting, Color, Cleanup etc.

Gotta remember that when these images are printed at standard calendar size, or even close to, sharp edges and banded gradients will turn real ugly real fast.

So perhaps we go with 2.0 or even 3.0 rules. I like only being able to have one picture per person on the calendar. Thoughts on themes? Keeping in mind we want it to be as open as possible, here are the options I came up with:

January - Cool filter, snow
February - Daytona 500
March - Nature
April - Rain
May - Indy 500, Monaco GP
June - Le Mans
July - US Muscle cars
August - Warm filter, family vacation
September - City tracks
October - Night, dark
November - Open
December - Christmas/holidays

Christmas in September? I think you mean December.

Great list, but I personally think that November should have an Autumn theme.

This calendar will be awesome :D

I thik we need to figure out how to get Nurburging 24hr in there somewhere.

Also, I'm not sure that snow or 3.0 would be the best idea since if there is too much editing it won't look anything like GT5 at all :( Anyone agree or am I nuts?

Snow could be just a snow track (because there are so many!) not necessarily edited-in snow.

Gonna have a look at CP and see if I can draw up some preliminary rules and such tonight.

True I never thought about it that way durr, facepalm,

I've been a little inactive here lately but wondering if there is still interest in this. I see it has sat for a little bit now :(

Apologies, got busy at work and home and didn't get much time to research. By the end of the week I will have preliminary rules posted here and once we can agree on those and the monthly themes I will start posting threads in the comp section.

So, did anyone have other theme ideas?

Here is what I've come up with for guidelines:

-Use 2.0 comp specs
-Image size recommended by CafePress for the Calendar is 11.5"x9" @ 200DPI, roughly 2300x1800 resolution. While we can use smaller sizes for the competition, all entrants should be prepared to submit a large resolution image for the final calendar. This can be done by using magnification x2 when taking the original image.
-Each month would run for two weeks for submissions and two weeks for the poll. This should allow plenty of time for those that might be busier to enter. January's poll and February's submissions would run concurrently and follow the same down the line.
-You may only have one image in the final calendar. Essentially if you win once, you cannot win again. Should give a good variety and let everyone have an opportunity.
-The only suggestions for themes that I saw was the quick list I came up with. Are there others? I saw someone wanted to get the Nurb24h in there. I can stick that into May with the other big races:

January - Cool filter, snow
February - Daytona 500
March - Nature
April - Rain
May - Indy 500, Monaco GP, Nurb 24h
June - Le Mans, summer
July - US Muscle cars
August - Warm filter, family vacation
September - City tracks
October - Night, dark, "scary"
November - Open, "what are you thankful for?"
December - Christmas/holidays

Are these agreeable? Additions or modifications? Shop the thread around to your photo geek friends so they can weigh in! :D

Bump~!

Any comments or suggestions? I will plan to start opening the comps the first Sunday in June unless I hear otherwise.

Sorry man just saw this now! Would we have multiple months be open at once? I personally think it would be good to get this one done and ready for press before GT6 is released...
