Well one surprise from the Tokyo Game Show has been spoiled :sly: lol, Seems like Gran Turismo have decided to launch a GT5 Prologue Spec III Bundle which includes a Dual Shock 3 80gb Hardware Console Package of the latest specs. Which also includes a Ready Updated Spec III Blu Ray Version of GT5 Prologue so far. Also the current JPN Version on the Japanese Playstation Network Store will be updated to the ready to play version of Spec III. Before if you bought Prologue Off the JPN Store you would have to Update from Spec I since it was released on the JPN PSN Store since last year. This is a very handy update for the Japanese GT Fans and will make things a little easier for them as well. The new High Capacity Model will sell for 39.800 Yen which is the current price of the 40gb in Japan. This will certainly boost more sales I Think. Source is here if you havent already read it 👍 It's unclear if the GT5 Prologue Bundle will be just the Piano Black System but Little Big Planet System Bundles will be shipping in White/Silver/Black,

I own the Orginal GT5 Prologue Spec I Game & I know this will be less of a pain of they are re-releasing it with all updates installed already, Certainly a thing SCEE & SCEA Should take on board too but. This further backs up my theory of Spec III Being the last Spec as the Final Prologue Build and from here on in we'll be expecting the Fall Update very soon as well.

Sit Back for The Tokyo Game Show this Week it's going to be big news!

It would make sense that if gt5p is being rebundled at spec3, the presumed further updates to spec3 would already be included in this version.

So from that, a new update for gt5p is going to be released before this bundle/psn comes out, or there will be no update at all for quite some time.

Interesting news though, cheers

Interesting news indeed. If spec III ends up being the last update, then PD can put all of their effort into the full GT5. I'm not saying they haven't been working on GT5, but having to work on both obviously takes up development time.

On the other hand, there may be a lot of unhappy GT5p players if this does end up being the last update, but I guess you can't please everyone right?

I for one will be fine with a 3rd (full) update, as I have not even bought all of the cars yet. I've barely even touched drift mode, and I've only tuned about 5 cars for online use. Where GT5p sits now will keep me coming back for quite a long time, even without the full spec III update. The full speculated Spec III update is just a bonus.

Hmmmmm, interesting, i think there's gonna be something big by the October 30 :scared:
It could just mean that GT5P Spec III (the current one) will be downloadable in one go from the PSN store. Instead of downloading Spec I or II and then having to run a large update.

Yeah, but why the disk version??? Old one was spec II, why putting a new disks because of ~200Mb?
I'm hoping for new big fall update after TGS because of this: TGS --> October 30, thats why i'm thinking that there will be something on TGS, new buyers get the full on GT5 spec III and we get downloadable update on the same day (October 30)...
Anyway, still waiting for TGS...

Makes sense they start pressing the latest version once they run out of supplies for the Spec II discs?

But I keep hoping. ;)

Unless the updates are too big to release on the PSN store, in which case it makes sense that they split the update up into more parts.

More and more i think that Spec III was "the big fall update". I'm still not sure what to think about it... in one hand it's good since they can focus on GT5... in other hand... no lobbies, no damage, no race cars....

oh well... let's do what GT always taught us before any judgement...

Let's WAIT... some more.

Hasn't PD already stated that GT5:P will be identical feature-wise to GT5 by the end?
Why would they "focus on GT5", when working on the Prologue build is the same thing? Withholding Prologue updates won't do anything but rob them of thousands of beta testers...

I'm with you on this one, I've barely scratched the surface of GT5:P in almost a year

So....you must not realize this was only 1 of 3 updates for specIII? Shouldn't have to wait much longer for private rooms and damage, Remember he already stated we were getting these.

How do you know there are three parts to the spec III update?

I have a feeling that damage is gonna come to GT5P anyways.

We just take this stuff for granted and you know what? There will be winers any way possible who will go "The damage is not realistic at all!", while they in no way have experienced any real damage to quite expensive cars.

I think you know something i don't... if spec III is indee 3 updates, then great. Tomorrow with more coverage from TGS we should have a better idea.

Yes that's right, K.Y has previously stated that Prologue will basically be testing all feature's, so the presumption that Update's are goign to be stopping is obviously incorrect. Unless the 'big fall update' will contain all feature's for GT5, if that were to be the case then it should be titled 'Mega ultra HUGE update' lol:lol:. because it would be one massive update!:D:tup:
Well I'm sure TGS will reveal certain details that hopefully should give us an indication of the content's of the next update, be it the 'big fall update' or not.
Peace,

Maybe there will be a major download update over the next few days that will be annouced at TGS and the new Spec 3 disk will contain that update.

This cannot be the final GT5P because theres ages to go till GT5 proper and also KY promised so much more to come.

As for the picture, nice to see product placement at its best.. :ouch:

Hehe i go to bed and come back and the page as bloomed! Yeah im very excited to now has there been anymore news at TGS? Thanks VIPERGTSR01 for the boxart,

As for Spec the jump from Spec II to Spec III On disc there wasnt one. In Japan it started from Spec I so everyone that has a disc of GT5Prologue in Japan/Hongkong as well has always begain on Spec I like me before it was released Stateside and in Europe just though ya should know to follow up any confusion

I’d like to believe this one:

The “Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III” that is included in the bundle is a version with all the online updates released up until October 3, 2008, to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue that was first sold on December 13, 2007.

has a different contain than this one:

On the same day, the stand alone software version of “Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III” is planned for sale. The suggested retail price will be 4,980 yen (tax incl.) for the Blu-ray Disc version, and 4,500 yen (tax incl.) for the download version.

But that doesn’t have much commercial/marketing/economic sense either, in my opinion. Still nothing from TGS?

In my opinion there was only one update scheduled for Spec III. Now it's done and therefore it is reasonable to release a new BD version.

* Customers who own “Gran Turismo 5 Prologue” will be able to update their software to the same content and specifications as “Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III” by performing the free online update.

This is saying about ONE free online update, which all of us already own.

and the new BD version will contain all updates until October 3. Nothing more...

Yes new BL will contain until 3th october..There WILL be more information about That update in TGS08 Stay tuned!

The is all perfectly logical. As someone stated above they've probably sold their stock of original pressings of the game and now have a new one.

Think about it. We've had a number of updates now and the last thing any developer wants is to sell new copies to people who are excited about the game only to be left having to do a massive update.

Lets all remember how much of a struggle it can be to get these updates. Imagine the effort and time that would be involved if you'd just bought a copy of the game and found it was Spec I or II. Constantly restarting the update would annoy the **** out of me.

It also costs money to have these updates available online. No idea no much their upstream would be but it doesn't matter. The new disc will reduce the amount of data that's downloaded from their service.

I think there'll be more updates. They may not be the major ones that we hope for though.
