I really hope that GT5 replays are 60fps as in prologue they are only 30fps. Having an increased framerate adds alot of realism to the game and is one reason why GT4 and GT3 still look so good on replays. I would be very dissapointed if the replays are still 30fps, PD should have the tech now to increase the framerate.

Other than that i have no worries about the game and have faith that it will live up to all expectations

I really don't think it will make that much of a difference...honestly. 30FPS is good enough, Either way 60 or 30, it will still look real. Maybe gt5 will have a sped up camera feature in GT5 so you can get 60fps.
They had it in GT4. But it went to fast.

I use to have a 27 inch olevia and the replays look great but then i got this 52 inch samsung 1080P 120hz so when i set it to medium while Playing GT5P :embarrassed:. it looks so beautiful, especialy during replays, i never knew how much a tv can make a difference. IMO its like im playing a whole new game.Even though GTP plays at 60fps/30fps with the 120hz on, it looks wonderful 👍

I watch replays and I don't really notice that is THAT SLOW!

I like how PD during race turns off some features to have good 60 FPS then during replays it goes to 30 FPS with extra stuff like heat waves, and what not.

30 FPS during replays are good enough. You only watch it to enjoy it. I would understand if its only 15 FPS that you can really tell the difference.

It doesn't bother me that much that it's at 30 FPS...however, I think someone said once that the GT5p intro is at 60 FPS? If it is, there is quite a noticeable difference between that and the normal replays, and it does look better at 60 FPS in my opinion...but the GT series has always had some of the best replays in any game in my opinion, so either way they're going to be beautiful.

The replays are 30 fps but with motion blur, that's exactly to avoid the slow effect of a low framerate.

Games like Killzone2 use the effect full time in-game for an smooth tv lifelike appearance.

And like JDMKING13 has said an higher Hz tv can make a lot of difference, games at 30 fps look more like a 60 fps, and 60 fps like a 90 fps.

No doubt.. When i play GT5P sometimes it looks like its real, no joke when i leave the main menu idle and the cars start to showcase my friends/brothers think they are real cars haha. I dont want you guys to think im trying to boost this up in anyway, but sometimes it looks like the cars are popping out :lol No lie: That 120hz makes a huge difference. I couldnt understand how i thought the game look so great on my 27 Olevia afte playing on my Samsung. Like i said before its like playing another game 👍

JDMKING13: Stop your passion and look what that TV does when the car drives behind a fence at Fuji Circuit :embarrassed:)

I like replays in film frequency with motion blur (24-30 fps) and I insist on 60fps during gameplay. Without some framerate drops, I would let the thing exactly as it is in Prologue.

I thought the Hz in the tv is like how many fps it can display on the screen? sorry if I'm wrong but that's what my friend told me. but yeah I changed my tv from 26 inch sony trinitron to 46 inch full hd bravia 200 hz and there was a hugeeee difference, you can see much-much more details on the car, and the tracks environments. It's awesome... everycar in the game became pornography after I switched to bravia :P

Yea you are right, but with that and full 1080P GT5 looks so smooth and detailed like you said i see a huge difference between my two tv

With my monster 1000 HDMI have notice motion blur, but only when i set the 120hz feature to high speed if i leave it on med or low it looks fine. I went to Best Buy one day and told him about the lag situation he told me to buy the M series HDMI no more lag 👍

Motion blur effect is hard coded part of the GT5 Prologue game and every TV should be able to display it. That 120Hz feature is trying to guess a frame between two last ones to make motion picture something smoother. But this function isn't perfect. On my Samsung one frame is dropped now and then completely because internal processor can't decide what to do with actual frames within small moment given to count it (too many objects on the screen or so) and when you watch Fuji Replay and car is viewed through a fence, there is only pixelated mess between fence frames instead of car, because the car is moving behind fence and TV can't watch certain parts of it to count it well. Similar situation is at Eiger when panning camera is watching the car through fans on the roadsides. See for yourself.

No everything you are saying is correct. Say i disabled the 120hz feature you would see no lag, if i put it on low i would also see no lag, Med IMO is the best feature the replays look so smooth with minor lag as you said parts a fuji and eiger ( btw nice observation by you 👍) At high 120hz motion blur lag is a serious issue, even though the cars look so good when you past certain object the car lags out serverly. This was with 1000 ultra speed Monster cable When i updated to the Monsters cable M Series Ultimate speed 1000 the lag issue has improved drasticly, now the only lag i see is at high 120hz, but it is a small amount compared to the 1000 ultra speed. This is why i play the game at 120hz Medium It looks amazing. like i said i did notice that crazy lag issues before but now the M series hdmi cable solved the problem 👍

30fps replays are very noticeable and very disappointing. Its not even worth watching as it is now.

They could stand to cut down the 16 cars on the track down to 10 or even 8.

^ Wow... I think you must be the only person on the board who feels that way. I have one of the older standard 60hz Bravias, and with a basic Philips HDMI cable, the replays look wonderful. I would rather the display rate be 60hz, but as it is right now, it's fine. Maybe in the full GT5... or 6? ;)

I'll have to say that JDMKING's experience with the Monster Cable is interesting. While Monster is overpriced for what you get, I have been intending to buy one of the boutique HDMI cables, and next paycheck I think I will.

I guess I am one of those wierdo's who can't really notice the difference between 30fps and 60fps. Non the less, I hope we do get 60fps replays, it seems pretty importatn to quite a lot of people.

Sacrificing gameplay for replay graphics?

jumping to 16 cars is probably one of the best things PD could have done for Gran Turismo, I never used to mind the lack of cars in the early games, however I started feeling a little lonely in GT4's endurance races, particularly on la Sarthe and the ring. lapping a car one per week isn't quite as fun for me at least. :indiff:

I think Endurance races will be far more entertaining this time round, especially if we get night transitions, and changeable weather, keeping track of 15 opponents is going to be fun. :)

WTF ? Do you know, that a human can only see 24 frames per second ? What's the difference between 30 and 60 fps if you can't actually feel it. Well, ok, there is a difference, if the 30 fps was the max and in overpopulated, graphically challenging areas you had ~ 5 fps slowdowns, then yes, you could feel it. But I think this is all BS. I myself play PC games on linux on an old computer, the fps rarely gets over 50, but I don't care.

The other thing is, the lcd/plasma backlight "refresh rate" is the thing you might actually feel. Even though you can't see the difference in movement, you feel it, because the backlight sort of flashes, depending on the tv, from 50-400 times a second. And this is where it makes a difference, not the fps.

The whole fps thing is sort of a penis-enlargement thing on the pc's, where some people buy 4 video cards and say:" OOOO I had 230 fps on that one!!! How much did you get ???" Well, on consoles, there really is no need for this.

If you watch the intro of GT5P i put it on everything that during replays it looks just like that with my new tv, plus some jaggies and a little bit of lag. I couldnt belive how 120hz TV can make a difference. Like i said before its like playing a new GT5P, the replays are just stunning 👍

No the difference is very noticible (at least if your eyes are "normal").
Play some Burnout for example and switch to WipEout after that, WO feels way smoother even when youre just standing still. Same with Gran Turismo. You also confused what the eyes CAN see and WHEN the eyes/brain notice something as fluid movement. That 21 or 24 frames per second thing is only the point where we humans see things as a fluid movement, but the eye is capable of seeing things MUCH faster.

^ Have to agree with GTAce there,30fps vs 60fps, Huge difference. Especially in game when one is driving. It really gives a sense of speed. IMO Replays are fine at 30fps as long as the graphics are stunning, i'm not saying that 60fps would'nt be better.

P.S
Graphics wise, the only thing I care about are the bad/broken shadow edges, I'd rather have no projected shadows over the hideous ones GT5p has right now.

The other thing thing that I dislike is the cartoonish look of HSR, sometimes it looks like something out of a future version of Mario.

Seeing this thread has alot of tv talk, I have a question. On dark cars, does anyone else see little white specks in the door jams (most notable on the shadow side of the car)? Or is it caused by my somewhat cheap lcd? My tv is a 42" Philips 1080p 60Hz. Sorry to go off-topic.

Nah man i see them on my tv also, even though its much better than my 27inch Olevia but i also see them. Some camera angles are better than others.
