Hey folks.., is GT-Prologue worth getting if you already have GT5..? I know many purchased Prologue before getting GT5.., but what about those that got GT5 first.?.? Is there anything in Prologue worth owning over the full game? Used prices on Prologue are fairly reasonable now.

I would, but I use every excuse to buy and start a new GT game :)

GT5:Prologue was in fact a 'bad' prologue, because as a game it is in many ways much more balanced and refined than the final GT5 product. For me at least, it set the bar for much too high leading to some disappointment in the 'full' GT5.

Think of it:
- 100% of the Prologue cars are premiums,
- Nicely accessible and polished online experience,
- Tuning is not unlocked until higher levels, so the racing is much more balanced and requires skills and thought about which car to pick for which races
- None of that XP, B-Spec or UCD bull****
- Very clever Performance Points (PP) system to ensure good matching of cars (for both AI and human opponents)

It's simply a very good game in a lot of respects.

Thanks a lot...I never thought that Prologue would be a better choice but from the last post it sounds like I'll have to pick it up and see if the changes
fix my issues with GT5 as it sure sounds like it does. And having new tracks sounds desirable too even if there's no way to import them.

Brambos is right although GT5P will be boring a lot sooner.

Just so you don't misunderstand my post: GT5:Prologue is great, but in terms of content it's still a subset of GT5. It's just that the bits that are in there are all brought together in a much more coherent way than GT5.

But I've seen it in stores for less than 15 Euros... Can't go wrong with it at that price.

Online leader boards people. Definitely will make me go back to GT5p from time to time.

When you do not know where you stand, you take the old WRS qualifier in GT5p online and see that top 100 in the world is very hard to get with a RX7 on Fuji F.

I've finished everything in GT5 other than the endurance races. Found Prologue on Amazon for $9.99 and picked it up. Definitely well worth it IMO.

I'd also say Prologue is worth it for the price. I'd even say although it is short on content compared to GT5, it is the better game. It's just more balanced and thought out, has less bugs.

Think of it:
- 100% of the Prologue cars are premiums,
- big track selection (some of the tracks aren't even in GT5 iirc),

+1.

While I like GT5, and won't talk bad about it like so many others seem to do, I feel it is step backwards from some of the things in GT5P.

2 things I miss a lot about GT5 Prologue :
- online leaderboard with "out of the box" cars : no tuning so everyone can compare worldwide with exactly the same car / tires.
- performance points systems : more challenging races, both in-game and online

Yeah... I just don't understand why couldn't they put the PP system in... Or the very simple arcade opponent car 'level' selection. That would make the arcade mode extremely appealing to me... The ability to choose much more difficult opponents.

seems to me since they developed both the PP and experience systems they should have offered both styles of play via install options. Same for the UCD etc....or even a module based system were the user decides what kinds of activities suit them and install those.
I've always thought any racing game/sim should have a season long series and most do, odd that's missing here too. Very frustrating the way Kaz and crew got so much right and yet teetotally F'd up the rest...like the sim was made by in two halves by a group of non-simracing newbie programers and a group of very experienced pros, then welded together by someone with more drug problems then Charlie S :)

GT5 Prologue was a big disappointment for me. The early levels were OK, but then I hit a big difficulty wall, that only endless grinding could have fixed. GT5, on the other hand, is an amazing experience that can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be. If you want crushing difficulty from GT5, then don't tune your cars and turn off all assists. On the other hand, if you are pressed for time like me and you generally suck at video games, like me, then GT5 allows you to make the races easier and more accessible. I previously have told people that Forza 3 is more "accessible" than GT5 but I think that is wrong. Rather, for different reasons, both games are accessible to all levels of racers. In Forza 3, you can make the game brutally hard by turning up the AI difficulty to "Hard", by turning off the assists and by driving a crappy, untuned car. GT5 Prologue, on the other hand, is not nearly as accessible, particularly in the latter stages of the game, because you lack the flexibility to make the game easier. Hence, I gave up.

If you can live with these differences, then GT5 Prologue is a worthwhile purchase.

I was out today.., and while out I stopped at GameStop to buy it. I figure that for less than $20 (used).., it is probably worth it ;-)

I like the sound of the cars in prologue better. The cars in GT5 have too much of a whine once you upgrade the transmission to fully customizable. I haven't touched prologue in a year though. It was a GREAT preview to the real thing. That's what it is. That said, I wouldn't get it if I had bought gt5 first.

Prologue had a better opening video aswell compared to GT5 ... I thought that opener was the best in the GT series so far.

Thats because of the straight cut gears in the fully customizable transmission.

I liked the in cockpit graphics better in GT5:P The dials and numbers where much crisper and better to read.
