Judging from past installments, PD would most likely only model the current lineup of Porsche models with maybe a 930 911. They had such an excellent opportunity to fill the Ferrari dealership with Prancing Horse icons from the '50s and '60s, but no, just the 330 P4, F40 and 512BB. Although great cars, I was expecting more from the Ferrari license in a game/simulator of GT's caliber and reputation.

Before GT5 was released, me and some friends discussed about the chances of Porsche getting into the game till one of us said "play Forza 3 if you want Porsches", but I replied "But T10 would never include great cars like the 917, PD would".

Well, now I think the total opposite... Just a list of manufacturers in GT with GREAT racing and automotive history:
- Ferrari
- Mercedes
- Mclaren
- Lotus
- Audi (Auto Union!)
- Chevrolet
- Ford
- Alfa Romeo
- Bugatti
.
.
.

Still, we barely have any classics, but 3 different F430`s.

Even if PD announces a Porsche DLC coming up next month I wouldnt get my hopes high because right now I would expect only a 911, a Panamerica (dont know how it is spelled) and the Porsche from GT3 as a standard car.

Bah, who wants premium Porsches when you can have premium RUFs! I'm more interested in Porsche for the oldies like 356, Carrera RS, 914, 917k, 956, 959 etc...new Porsches dont make my bird sing like they used to.

Even if PD does manage to snag Porsche someday, RUF should still be included. They've got classics and their current lineup (seen in FM4) is great!

RUF VS Porsche online rooms might be interesting.

Unfortunately ea has shown almost no consideration for their fans or the gaming industry I mean imagine if ea was the only game developers picture that in your mind for a while

Not a good look maybe back in the Ps1 and Ps2 days but now a day that would be a nightmare

True, no bucks, no Buck Rogers. However, I haven't seen a Ferrari SUV, and they continue to kick arse in GT racing...

No, but when you have an F1 team that directly is a car manufacture and wins races from time to time, but also puts that technology into their cars. You tend to get a large group of wealthy people wanting to buy their cars. Then you have cars like the California who were supposedly built for women and though they may not be building SUVs they are going toward the stationwagon/hatchback theme or better yet have gone that route.

Also as others have said their GT cars that do pretty good (BMW and Corvette have done better many times) are owned by others and not given full support by Ferrar, remember they have a massive devotion to F1 which is pretty expensive already but can make big money. If you look at those who actually own and build and support the Ferraris ran in ALMS you'd know.

I'd actually prefer the Ferrari FF over man of their coupe models. It's a technological masterpiece

And who owns Ferrari? That would be the Fiat group (and that's a lot more than just Fiat cars and a lot more than just car manufacture) who have always been quite happy to fund Ferrari.

The same can't be said of Porsche within the VAG group.

Scaff

Wasn't Porsche always considered its own thing in the VW group? What I mean is, don't they enjoy a lot of indepedence compared to Audi and Lamborghini?

its thing like this that make me hate EA, ive bought a few of their computer games in the past, and literally less than a month after they come out with a huge load of expansions you have to pay $30.00 for, just to have a more complete game, you wouldnt be able to fully enjoy the game unless you bought a few of the expansions
then EA first milks the living heck out of the NFS franchise, and pulls garbage playground moves like this to try and get more sales
needless to say, unless EA comes out with a REALLY good title, im not going to buy any of their games anymore, simple
but thats just my 2 cents....

I tried to look this up as i'm a die hard VeeDub nut. I know that vw owns 49.9% of Porsche and, VW are planning to buy the other 50.1%.

There was an answer on yahoo. It made me chuckle a little

That is a very good question and the answer is a little funny/tricky. Last I heard porsche the family sold porsche the car company to VW then turn around and used that money along with money they had to buy out VW. So VW the car company owns porsche car company but porsche the family owns VW which in turn also owns porsche the car company. Got it?
No, not really

EA may have an exclusive agreement, but I don't seeing it lasting forever, especially with so many people losing enthusiasm for EA games. They don't seem to put much effort into games anymore, and it shows. After getting Shift 2, and being horrified at how bad it was, I refuse to buy another game from them. While Battlefield has gotten big, nothing else they've done has warranted any kind of excitement.

All that video does is make me sad.

I'll tell you what game did include a whole bunch of classic Porsches though...

550 Spyder. 356. Carrera RS. 917. 959. On the PlayStation it even had a career mode that went from the '50s to the present day. Sure, it didn't have the best physics, but you have to commend them for going to so much effort for getting permission for these models. It was a time when NFS games had a bit of magic to them.

Sadly, the "Art" in Electronic Arts is no more.

I still wonder if PD would include classic Porsches...

I loved that game! Played through it countless times (career mode). Also loved the showroom feature in which you could open doors and hatches -- something the GT series still doesn't have now -- from a game released back then when anything could be turned into solid gold by suffixing a ".com" :)

EA has bigger budget on licence. Where Porche agree to sign this exclusive licence with EA.

As a Car manaufactor, you want every single game to have your car in there and show the world for reputation/sales.

However due to the contract between EA and Porche, Porche will not be able to do anything until the contract runs out.

And as ea continue to ruin its series it will make the deal seem even more stupid

Sry your are wrong. I think sadly :(

The Truth is. The manufactores care about their cars in movies and pay for that. The gaming companys (MS, Sony, etc.) have to pay them and sometimes wait about 6 month before they reach their goal and get the licens.

Shortly

The manufactes (Audi, Porsche,Saleen,....) and the track owners dont give a **** about games at all.
Some small tuners or racing teams, racing series do, but not the big manufactures.

Have you not seen the recent post and whole thread regarding Fords latest comments about video games? Even they have said how important games like GT5 are, rising brand awareness and loyalty through the worlds gaming culture. The gaming culture is now bigger than movies, more people spend time playing games than watching TV, you have to remember its not just playstations, xbox's etc... You have lots of mobile phone games and such like now.

Yes i know. But i know racing developer and i think they know the truth.

A question...

Go in the city and ask sombody about the car in the 007 Movies? They would say Austin Martin.

Ask the same and other persons on the street ... "Is there a Vanquish in Forza, GT, Shift2, etc."
35% would say. "maybe i dont know" 50% (wouldnt know the games) and 15% would say "yeS"

Games are huge and bigger than the movie industrie, but companys want to pay for adveristment and games (racinggames) are a waste of adversisment for this and other reasons....

- Movies get auttention from a brider audience. I mean young, old, non gamer etc.
- Movies have 1-5 cars in there. Games have about 100 to 1000 cars.
- Cars in movies are driven by Moviestars (or often Stuntman which look like the stars)
- Cars in movies are real and have the real sound. In games this can be not real sometimes. (for example Sound in GT5 or handling in some other racing games (Shift 2,...))
- ....

So is this a good adveristment in games? No. Is it good advertisment in movies? Yes. Some people have an idol and want to drive the car of the stars for example

Yes it gets bigger, but Sony, MS ask a bout a license and ..

a) have to pay for it (unlike movies. The manu pays the movie company)
b) Have to wait very long time
c) have to beg sometimes
d) Dont get an answer etc.

Besides Ford just said the industrie is bigger and not said that they would pay Sony,MS for their cars intigrated in their games. And this is only 1 manufacture.
I know developer and they deal with alot more manufactures. And they all said the same. It is hard to get a licens and expensive. So what was your point :)

Yes it is about to change, but this will need about 5-6 years before all manufacture be grateful about their car in a big racing franchise and some would pay for the integration. (For example GT, Forza)

Lol :D

Ferrari is another topic. As i know Turn10 owns the exklusiv console license, but they allow everybody (including Sony) to use it. They think exklusiv license are worse for Gamer.

The Ferrari license was the reason why EA allowed them to use Porsche. Forza 4 has nö Porsche, because EA denied it. Nur NfS Run has Ferrari... As i Said Turn10 Said they will Never use a exklusiv license and allow the others to use it.

I'd worry if they said Austin Martin, that's not even a real company.
