Since RUF was added to Forza 4 (when they lost Porsche), and includes a bunch of brand new modern RUF cars, I don't think this statement is true.

I have never stated it as a fact and as such should not be judged as true or false :) Since you have provided concrete evidence, I stand corrected.

I really hope with the new relation between EA and Sony that they allow Porsche to be in GT5. Porsche is also a leading race manufacturer and should by now see how close GT5 is compared to other games in the racing sport. About RUF's though I think they should still stay. The older RUF's seem to be by far the greatest: Yellowbird and RUF BTR are some of the best cars to drive in GT5. The new ones seem like what ferrari did with the ferrari enzo....they seem to have more of a race pedigree rather than a fun drive.

With the modeling speed of PD, we can get 2 Porsches in GT7... Before they model some Porsches, they must model 47 GTR´s ;)

Just so you know, the Pagani Huayra exclusive EA license was just until the end of 2011. Forza 4's January DLC pack includes it (and was released last night).

That's how fast things can happen when exclusive deals end....

Exactly, T10 once again showing how on the ball they are. Exclusive deal ends and instantly bam, there it is in Forza. They obviously got it modelled and ready to go as soon as they legally could. PD on the other hand I would be shocked if they've even thought about modelling it.

Must agree on this... And for the mainstream (what makes at least 90%) Forza 4 is an absolutely great game with actual cars and fresh gameplay elements 👍

I could care less about Porsche at this point. They've made their choice a long time ago. I'd much rather see up-to-date RUFs, such as the CTR3.

If you are a 10 year old

Nope, I played a lot of Hot Pursuit recently, in between long sessions of iRacing, and had a ton of fun with it. The extreme fast pace, beautiful, open ended game world, car selection, and really great gameplay mechanics made it a lot of fun to play. It was great to just chill and not have to worry about driving perfect, after playing a serious racing sim. Arcade racers still have their place. Broaden your horizons a bit, you would be surprised at how many good racing games there are, especially ones that are way better then GT5.

It's great to see these sort of opinions on this forum. 👍 You're absolutely correct.

Happy with EA? Nope. Whenever I decide to fork over the dough for Forza 4, I'll be even less pleased to find out a few favourite Porches of mine are not in the game.

EA sucks anyways. The old NFS games were good, but they just suck now. I though Hot Pursuit would've been good, but you have to drift around every corner, ruining what could've been a good game. Shift sucks - unsure about Shift 2. First one was a 🤬 when it came to handling.

Why are we forced to buy crappy games just to drive a few Porches? I'd rather just buy Forza 3 if I wanted Porsches - less BS to deal with. At least we might see the Hyura...hyerua...Heura....er, the new Pagani .

NFS right now at the moment is pretty bad but back in the days it was awesome.
Back in those ps2 days....NFS underground 2, GT3, GT4, burnout, Midnight club even twisted metal; it was console racing heaven. Those were by far the best racing games of last gen in my opinion.
However I am pretty optimistic about Porsche coming to GT5 because doesn't KY have a porsche so he knows about the problem.

Actually I was told that the unlockable Porsche 911 in GT3 was Kaz's personal Porsche. lol

Nah, you can't fight fire with fire. If you did that, every single top manufacturer will be brought by the big guns like Sony, MS & EA.

So instead of having only one or two manufacturer's missing from these games, we will be missing 5 or 6.

Besides, my betting is that these big exclusive deals are done for. I bet that with these games reaching so many people, the only exclusive deal car manufacturer's would be interested in is a single car only for a couple of months.

By the sound of the issue with T10 and EA, Porsche are regreting their multi year deal with EA. Once it runs out, I cant see Porsche going down the same route with any kind of exclusive to anyone

I think any solution is going to have to come either from a more sharing attitude (not trying to "lock out" any developer, but rather opening up more cars and more licenses to more developers), or from the automakers themselves. If Porsche were smart, they'd simply refuse to sign ANY "exclusive" deals with any game developer, insisting that their cars are theirs to license to whomever THEY want to license them to.

It's kind of hard to get mad at EA for wrapping up exclusivity with Porsche, and not get at least a little ticked at Porsche for being so naive as to sign such an agreement without looking over the landscape to see what else was out there for them.

Excellent on their part. Car enthusiasts on the XBOX 360 have a great list. It's very balanced. Complete? Impossible. But it's beyond anything GT5 has right now.

PD on the other hand I would be shocked if they've even thought about modelling it.

I wouldn't be shocked if they made it already, but I admit, I would be surprised. So far, the DLC has strayed away from supercars (besides the R35). I am eager to see what they do for the next DLC.

PD just haven't added enough new cars (2010 onwards) full stop, let alone supercars. I'm pretty sure Forza has added more 2010+ models through DLC than GT5 had in at release.

In fact just looking at the car list for GT5 there is a total of 14 unique 2010 models and even only 20 2009 models.

There was a video up on YouTube where kaz was talking about gran turismo 2000, and he mentioned that he knows people are disappointed about the car list, but he explained saying something either like budget constraints (unlikely) or manufacturer refusing license for various legal issues (more likely).

I'd look it up but my phone is acting up for some reason (thank you Steve jobs).

We got Zondas in the game, and RUF subsitutes, why doesn't PD go after other Porsche tuners as an alternative. Also, NFS does have japanese cars, R34, R35, 350z, 370, mazda RX-7, RX-8, i reckon if there were atleast some premium RUF's or other Porsche tuning companies, the community, could be that little bit more happy.

Ruf is a manufacturer not a tuning company (one is licencable, the other still has to go thru porsche as well)
they build cars using just unmarked porsche body shells and or chassis
That is why we get ruf's, not some wheels and more tuned porsche or whatever
There is that much a difference unfortunately

A set of premium ruf's would make many people's day though... especially a CTR3

People constantly bash EA for their exclusives but you have to remember the manufacturer are just as liable for accepting the offer. They obviously prefer the higher money from EA rather than having their cars featured in multiple race games.

True, there are 2 people we should be looking at here, EA for locking the license, and the car company itself for allowing it.

I will admit, it really kills me when we have no new vehicles in the line up. I talk up GT5 like crazy, then when people play, they see a 600 car garage that's 90% pre 2000 japanese cars worth 3500 on kbb, or something they've never heard of aka Diahatsu Storia CX-2 (jp) whatever. While I complain about games, like forza not being able to change controller settings, and nfs being targeted for seven year olds, they still have cars from 2010. 2011.
OH! We got some DLC!

Although I love the DLC, and bought it immediately, why the f--- are three of the four cars front fronts? Seriously? If sales of the pack are poor, I wonder why. The new cooper is just that, a few grand more and a tad different, and two others very similar.

BUT WAIT! There's more! Included in our DLC was an unbelievable vehicle never before seen on a Gran Turismo. A Datsun, a GT-R.

Honestly, the only reason I bought it was for the Scirocco, my favorite vehicle under 100,000 USD, and to get the other car for buying two packs. Oh yea, I didn't get that car, either. I just fail to understand why we can't have an Aventador. Or the new Mustang, or the Ultimate Aero, or the Veyron SS, or almost anything else. But three front fronts around 250 hp, two are just updates of old cars.

Why not do a Aventador, the final Pagani Zonda, the Scirocco, and I don't know, the new Mustang? Anyhow, the new V6 is stronger than the old V8, let alone the new GT500 with over 650 horsepower. We have five models of the Toyota 86 GT, EXCEPT the real models (Scion FRS and Subaru BRZ), before it's on the streets, why can't we have ONE that is anything different? I have always thought the people complaining about cars were just whiney, but I am starting to see their point. There is becoming a SERIOUS discrimination between Japanese models and EVERY other auto manufacturer.

But I will still ONLY own four games, three being GT5, and love it.

I ask myself the same all the time. It's like we are always left wondering...and waiting. I wish they'd be direct and ask the fans what they would like to see in the games.

Time will tell. Let's see what the 3rd DLC offers. Hopefully, it spices things up some. You can't save all the goodies for GT6, as GT5 might be the last GT game we get until PS4.

True, plus as I mentioned in another thread DLC in continuous running series like this should basically be seen as a premium way to get extra content early before the next game. Those that want to pay the premium can, if not they can wait until the next full game. It's win win for everyone and exactly why I think the T10 business model is excellent. Want the cars they're offering as DLC now, pay for them at a premium. Think they're too expensive wait for the next game and they're already there on the disc.

The problem is of course if PD are so slow modelling cars they won't have enough to continuously knock out DLC and still have some new cars for the next full game.

Anyone who says this hurts Porsche with brand recognition is kidding themselves. With GT1, GT2, and GT3, PD was the only developer making a driving simulator for consoles. Now, we have Forza and Shift. While they may not be true simulators, (nor is GT for that sake) they are marketed as simulators.

GT isn't the only game in town anymore, so to speak.

Hey, just do what i do. Speak with your money. I refuse to buy EA products now. As much as I love Battlefield 2 and Command & Conquor, I'm just not going to buy anything EA.

Write them a letter. They will not notice their sales figures drop from your decision and they aren't likely to read this thread (then go buy BF3).

If only PD made some premium RuF's , that would pretty much solve it for me...

Also when thinking of other Porsche tuners... , the cars they are based on would still be Porsche branded where as RuF is a brand on itself...

Grtz !

I felt the same way about the car selection, finally got tired of waiting and bought the dreaded XBOX :nervous:, picked up a copy of Forza4 and once I got acclimated to the way it plays, I found that I really liked the game and love the car selection. I am still hoping that GT5 gets with the program as the game is good (not perfect). In the meantime I am having a ball driving all the cars I wish GT5 offered. What one game does not have, the other does, except for Porsche  so the Rufs will have to do for now as I only play these two games.
