GT6 Demo: Is it me or a glitch?

So guys, I just finished downloading GT6 demo today. I played it for almost a decaminute and my PS3 just shuts off immediately, doing the red blinking light that it usually does when it is overheated. After several retries, I gave up and decided to play GT5 again. And what do you know, IT STAYS ON EVEN FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. Is it me, or my PS3 is dying? Hell, only 3 games marked my blacklist on the malfunction. UC3 and Tekken Tag 2. Is it me, or is it a glitch?

Yeah I think its your PS3. I can't find it right now but you might want to look up a guide on how to clear your PS3 cache and see if that fixes anything. You wont lose any data.

Only until the PS3 does not work at all, which will happen if you don't find out what's causing the problem and fix it.

To tell you the truth, it works well on every other game in my arsenal. Even on FC3 on long hours. Just not with UC3 or TTT2 and GT6 Demo (ONLY hopefully). It just so happens that these new games they are building are literally pushing beyond the unbalanced limits the PS3 has. The internet says that reballing is the solution, but I do not find the logic how the solder between my GPU and CPU would break off and stay put on other games.

Well, I guess you can either buy a new PS3, try cleaning/re-applying some arctic silver thermal paste on the heatsink/GPU, or simply live with the problem.

Mine is doing it as well. Old fat one. So it can't be your vents or anything in the hardware. :-/

The vents should be hot.. that misconception of the PS3 not blowing hot air out is good is really false, it should be blowing out fuming hot air .. My 60 gig got re pasted by myself a few years ago and it never heats up. The air coming out the back is taking the heat out =D heat that otherwise will melt the chips inside

I just experienced the shut off with blinking red lights on the GT6 demo.. I was doing the GT academy practice challenge #1.. This is odd.. could it be the game? Mine's the 20gb launch model. =/

I would also like to add that I did not experience any frame rate issues.. it was all silky smooth. Then again our iteration of the cell should be running hotter since the newer ones are more micro compared to the 1st gen.

same here.... only game I had problem is Black ops 2... it turned off my ps3 every 15 minutes of play...

and now GT6 demo is doing the same thing.. while in the menus.. so its not ps3 fault.. overheat can happen only if you play a game.. this is a glitch.. just like BO2 had...

all other games works 100% fine on my Fat 60 gig PS3...

PS.. my ps3 is not hot.. vents are not working at maximum.. this is some kind of game glitch that causes ps3 to shoot off.. ps3 thinks that he is overheating but it dosnt....

just turn off without warning, blinking red light, turning on only with manual controls (after pressing 2 times), loading creen, HDD check, and finally on!

That sucks so bad.. I was hoping to buy GT6 and GTA5, last of us.. list goes on and on.... no way I m buying new ps3... then only PS4... it means I could skip GT6.. and that would be sad sad thing to do.....

just hope PD will fix this issue.. I know its possible.. all other games work perfect!!!

hmm. I am using one of the newer models. I picked it up about 6 months before the release of GT5. I think it is a 160gb PS3 Slim? Anyway I just went through the entire demo and I did not have any issues at all. Every thing looked good, no frame rate drops or not that I noticed, no glitches, no shut downs. I did notice that the last 2 bonus events seemed to load a bit slower than the others but that was it.

Are you running in 1080 or 720p? I've read 720 is a better FR experience. Not tried it myself though.

1080p I guess. That is the mode my set shows on screen. I did not look at any options within GT6 if there is one. I just changed the steering to Sim and turned off the music. I also do not drive in cockpit view. can't stand the limited view in most games cockpit view.

So I was curious after the over-heating issue and I opened up my ps3 (Launch 20gig). It was this dusty after 7 years... lol.

^The amount of dust i managed to get on my self was not comforting.

I think there will be frame rate drops for everyone in 1080p and cockpit view. Don't think it has something to do with the different PS3 versions. I hope they can solve that issue for the final version.

I got to play it.... if you skip menu very fast you may get to play it.. I finished both sunday cups... then my ps3 was working about a hour in Suzuka circuit menu.. (I was cooking ) and I just pressed Start and it turned off again....

anyways the good news is that if I skip the menu very fast I can get to play it.. the bad news I still have time limit about 2 hours ..


PD fix this please!!! I dont care about the demo.. but Full GT6 must work!!!

like I sayd all other games working 100% fine, including GT5.


Edit: I love those new physics and suspension looks insane!!!!

Issue shouldn't be console related. My brother is playing on his Fat PS3 and as far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be any difference between our games. (I'm using SuperSlim)

I am having the same issue with my fatty 80 gb system. Runs just fine until I try to load the demo. Ran fine until I tried to get to the Nissan Leaf Challenge. System is cool, and ok when I go and run other games, but When I click on this challenge race my system shuts off and begins flashing.

Having the same issue. Using a 20GB launch PS3 to play, and it crashes out. Every other game tested on it works fine, however...

It is overheating issue. 2 fat PS3 I owned died thanks to that...
And one was a backward compatible model too T_T
The one that I am currently using is the latest fat model.
My friend changed the thermal paste on it so it is staying cooler than normal, but at the same time newer versions of fat ps3s are made better in terms of heat dissipation.
You can clean the dust and reapply the thermal paste... But from my past experience with older fat ps3s... It will eventually die even with all the modifications made to it...

Wow, seems to be a lot of "Fat" consoles experiencing this. Not a single problem with my SuperSlim. Are you guys sure your PS3 has sufficient ventilation? No blockage of vents or anything?
