GT6-Is the PS3 Disc Reader suppose to be this loud? constantly?

Hello. I have the US GT6 Anniversay Edition pre-ordered from Game Stop. One thing I have been noticing is that my PS3 seems so loud and that the game seems to be constantly reading the disc. I realize platform limitations and I've had enough games to know that this is a LOT of loading. For example, if I am racing at SPA about every 3-5 seconds I am hearing it make the loud noise seemingly to load. Is this normal? Usually I don't get the chance to play until later at night after wife is asleep, but this keeps waking her up, which usually means the PS3 is getting shut off. Please provide any feedback, suggestions, or remedies. If I download the PSN store digital version will this stop? And... can I still use my save game information if I decide to do the digitial download? Thanks in advance...

Maybe ths is related to the dual layers on the disc.

Mine does the same thing, it's not that bad but it's enough to annoy. I usually play when my wife's asleep too so my solution was to give my kid's white noise to her, it blocks all of my wheel/ps3 noise out! All it is, it's an app called "Sleepy Sounds" for Android, it plays light rainfall (has different sounds to choose) noises for however long you set it. It blocks outside noise out perfectly, I get no complaints - even if I'm on my mic!

same here ... I mostly play at night around 11pm 12 ish ... sometimes if I am lucky i can be early as 10:00 PM

having only ONe TV and having it IN the edroom makes things complicated at times

edit: it's not as noisy as some copies of Supersmash bros for the wii was... this one I was a bit annoyed. but the reader is not exactly the same though

Get some nice long cables and stick your PS3 outside your door , hey, it could work .

it's complicated... beleive me there is no door to my room as for the past two years we've moved our bedroom in our living room so that our child may have it own room

I have all three and the loudest i had in all three was on the wii before i decided to soft mod it and install SSBM on a hard drive

I had no issues with my 360 ran FM4 like a pro. slim model witha jury rigged 20gb hard drive

Good, then they silenced it for the slim version. My buddy's old 360 is much louder than my PS3 slim.

Yeah, you shouldn't have the disc drive noise anymore if you get the digital version. I'm sure you can use your current save as well. 👍

It could be becuase the game does a install in the background as you play the game.

Well if it really is that loud, and you have a good internet connection, i'll highly recommend getting the Digital version of gran turismo 6, even if you have the disk

if you put it in demo mode for a while it installs then, i have an improvement in noise, and more importantly, the fps issues, especially the cockpit views, now virtually no fps loss at all.

I appreciate all the ideas and replies. I've got the digital download of F1 2013 Classic and it doesn't make a sound, so i will probably buy the digital copy of GT6 as well. I'm thinking my game save and the anniversary cars will still work fine with a downloaded version, but please let me know if anyone has had trouble with this.

Ps3 super slims have a loud disk drive. This happens due to it installing. This game, red dead redemption and gta 5/4 are constantly reading the disk..
