GT6 on 12gb PS3

Hi

Apologies if this has been posted before but I have been away from gtpl and ps3 \ video games a long time.

I have just got a ps3 and its has 12gb hdd and after a bit of reading this forum I can see that gt6 has had alot of update s

So my question is would gt6 and the updates fit on the 12gb of hdd ?

I was only planning on using the ps3 12gb for gt6 and grid autosport

Would it be possible for this ?

I highly doubt that the updates would have reached 12 gigs, but with Grid autosport as well... it could be close. I am not sure how big GA is.

I can't say for sure but I don't think it will work. You can put a hard drive in them. I didn't buy a mount I just used some 3/8 inch foam cut into 2 inch long strips along each edge of the drive. I have done 3 of them that way, & they all are working fine. One of them gets moved around quite a bit. I glued a small square of foam on the plastic cover to hold it in place.

Yeah I was thinking about upgrading the hdd but was probably going to do it next month as I should be buying a PS4.

Then I was going to hopefully put the PS4 500gb hdd in the ps3 and buy either a 1 or 2 terria byte hdd for the ps4

Any idea how much space is needed for gt6 and all updates ?

I would guess 20 to 30 gb with the updates, I'm not sure, I had an old 120 laying around that I stuffed into the one I'm using.

Wow 20 to 30 gb I was not expecting it to be that big. Maybe I could still buy gt6 and just play offline until I get the hdd

I presuming I should be able to do that (gt6 base game - no updates)

Go buy a Kingston 120GB SSD, they're cheap as chips at the moment, & it'll speed up the games loading times as well.

Thanks for advice and unfortunately I cannot install GT6 just yet. I can just about install Grid autosport.

Just thought a would post an update.

I caved in and went out and bought a cheap 160gb hdd for £15 early. And wow gt6 is a big update

There were 14 updates and the biggest being 2.3gb that took 6 hours to download. Then when I went to start game there was another download that said appox 330 minutes to download

So left that to download overnight just went to try the game now and there is another update which has appox 40 minutes to download

Crazy big downloads so no way a 12gb hdd would be enough I would say if the ps3 is only for gt6 i would say at least a 40gb hdd is needed.

Anyway when I installed the hdd I did not have any mounting brackets so I just used a bit of cardboard would this be ok ?

I wouldn't recommend it, but it might do until you can pick a cheap bracket up off ebay. Shop around & you'll find one for a few quid, I got one last year for a friend.

..............Cutting costs, I say. Yeah no way a 12 gb HDD would be "A Okay" with GT6. My game utility is sayin' GT6 data alone exceeds 18 gb....

It's not a hard drive, it's soldered on flash memory in the 12GB PS3. Unfortunately, it becomes redundant after you install a HDD, instead of utilising it as a cache reserve or something.
