Hi I've been playing GT6 nearly every day since release and now am over 50% complete and have unlocked the super licence. I have about 4.5mill in the bank, so thought what the heck let me post a thread comparing GT6 to GT5.

I actually really have enjoyed GT6. The positives are for me compared to GT5:

1. I actually like the new cars, but not so much loving the several MX5's and various different versions of the same car, but hey that's nothing new with GT its been like that from the start.

2. The menus seem a lot more slicker/faster to navigate around, only gripe is that they should have the PIT shop on the start menu shortcut, so I don't have to go all the out way when I change the oil for the first time I drive the car. Not a deal breaker.

3. I do like the new tracks and learning them. I think the AI have improved a little, maybe that's my bad driving or using under powered cars lol

4. I don't have an issue with the MR cars, the Audi R18 is twitchy but not un-driveable

5. The sound of engines I know a lot of people have complained about but PD have said that its going to be fixed in an update. I'm fine with that. No endurance races have also been an issue for certain people, but they've never appealed to me so I'm fine with that. I'm a bit gutted about no B-Spec though, but its been rumoured to be coming in an update.

That's the positives. The negatives are mostly around the economy of buying cars and parts. I've seen numerous threads of people saying GT5 was on par with the GT6 when it was first released. Here are some interesting facts

Prize Cars

GT6

GT5

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gt5-prize-car-list-unlockables.134047/

Ok the amount you win per a race I would agree with the people that say the economies are roughly about the same. But just look at those links and the compare the prize cars!!! GT6 doesn't have A) the same quantity or the same quality of prize cars. Its the only GT I've played, and I've played all of them right from GT1, that doesn't give prize cars after you win a championship. The only logical conclusion I can come to why they've changed it compared to all the previous GT's is to push people towards micro transactions and get people to buy credits. I can't think of any other reason. I find this very frustrating and I've always been mostly an offline player and now find myself always being careful with the credits that I've earned so far hence why I nearly have 5mill. Also I now have no incentive to complete championships, the pay out is poor and no prize car either!!

GT6 Anniversary Edition Cars Vs GT5 Stealth Cars

This is another thing I find really disappointing because apart from all the high PP cars in the anniversary pack, you have to buy gearboxes various other different things!!! Honestly when I paid for the anniversary pack I didn't expect to pay for all the other mods to!!! That means I've paid the extra £20 to just have standard cars with the anniversary livery!!! That means spending more money on cars I thought I would have to only upgrade the turbo on as I did with the Stealth cars in GT5. PD again pushing us towards spending more money, fastest way to get money micro transactions, being pushed again.

Repairing the Stealth cars in GT5 was it 500? Anniversary cars its the same as standard cars in GT6 thousands.

GT6 vs GT5

Trading cars. Currently we cannot trade cars. Honestly with the lack of prize cars lack of pay outs how do people expect to get the cars they really want without doing the glitch??? The economy is seriously broken and I've tried to be factual about the things above with the review, but how are people expected to buy the cars they really want, with the lack of prize cars, not great pay outs and no trading with other people.

Overall I would say it is a good game but I can't help but feel that micro transactions have been rammed down our throat's and as a result it has made GT6 poorer. I could go on and on about other things, but I just don't have the time. I have found the licenses apart from the Super licence a lot easier. I have obtained Gold in all of them. Thanks for reading :)

The loading time is amazing love that. People try to play it off, especially the reviewers of GT6 by saying the MT doesn't affect the game, that you don't need it.

Absence of evidence does not mean evidence of absence.

Not true, MT is there, its a brooding theme that you can see at times. Slight changes, but ones that add up to give you the picture that in fact MT is hurting the game a little bit.

Like you mentioned, the lack of prize cars, or good ones in fact, the high price of car maintenance. The suddenly low payouts in races, an endurance race is only 100k? That combined with how they suddenly made every car available to you from the start, the game doesn't force you to get MT, you can beat it without spending an extra cent. But you can't deny that the suggestions are there, the low payouts, the high priced cars all there, the suddenly rising costs of everything from tuning to engine overhauls, PD subtly suggests you to get MT. They don't lock certain competitions to cars that you can only buy with MT, but they make it harder to get those cars. 20 million credit cars, and some of the highest payouts are only 100,000 which are 20 minute endurance races. 100k credits equals 200 races of an endurance race. 200 endurance races of 20 minutes are 66.67 hours of gameplay giving a margin of 1-2 hours for loading and replay. That compared to 2 minutes of forking over 120 pounds or dollars idk what currency rates are, the appeal is there to some. To others, it is a bit of a slap in the face to limit the availability of content to either considerable man hours or to forking over money.

GT5 was better but got silly with all that nascar garbage (should be an option in my opinion you can delete it or play it if you want I am not a nascar fan in any shape or form) and stupid races like the redbull one and a few more.
GT6 is dire for me graphics are terrible, Gameplay is boring, Seems to have been designed by someone who hasn't got a clue about fun.

Its more about what gives you fun. Some people find it with more nail biting, close edge racing, so FM or NFS is a bit for them, I'm more of the technical aspect guy. I love the numbers, statistics, and the engineering in a car and how you have to constantly change your style depending on car, weight, track, weather and all these factors. To others that might be boring and that the formula gets old, but for me I find that pure joy, to shave an extra second off and get a faster lap time.

GT6 graphics are great. GT5 was damn good as well. Gameplay, menus pretty much everything is better except earning credits. I don't think they will have seasonal events to win easy money now :(

We can't say for sure, its still too soon, I mean GT5 was delayed and even then a few months of patches made it better. Same thing with GT6, this one was rushed a bit, so its a bit incomplete, maybe in a few months everyone will start complaining about how its TOO EASY to earn credits.

GT games are like wine, give it age and time and it'll get progressively better hopefully.

I'm not sure what you're talking about when it comes to graphics? Both GT5 & 6 have some of the best graphics of the PS3 generation. There is also not a huge gap between GT6 and Forza 5 on XB1.
