GT6 vs. PS4

So I recently bought a PS4 and my PS3 has been unplugged ever since. The new console still lacks a really good racing game but despite still liking the PS3, I find it very hard to go back to a last generation game that is still very incomplete. While Driveclub is coming out soon, although not looking anything like Gran Turismo, I only imagine that the urge to go back to GT6 will get even smaller as time goes by. PD obviously have to deliver on their promise to add specific features to GT6, especially for those who still play it on a regular basis. However, I can't help feeling that any effort to finish GT6 takes away the possibility that GT7 will arrive anytime soon, not to mention in a condition that won't feel like a price tagged beta. I know why PS3 got GT6 but I somehow wish that we were still waiting for it as a PS4 game. That would also make it more feasible to assume that it would be released in a more complete state. It can't be any other way now but I feel like buying GT6 wasn't much more than a donation to a cause that doesn't even make it foreseeable to play a comprehensive and realistic driving game on the PS4. I have resisted the PS4 as long as I could and GT6 is still a last generation work in progress... Just had to get this off my chest and feel free to offer your opinions on this matter.

Like you said, the PS4 is probably the thing that will pay off in the long run. I know GT6 will get better but it has some problems that need to be fixed still. With the PS4, new driving games will continue to come even long past GT6's life ends. I think you made a good choice.

No doubt that once you make the jump, you will practically Not going to go back...

For those of us, by choice or not, still playing with GT6... great!

I dont see how it can be a bad thing to bare with the work in.progress that is GT(6)....

Life itself is work in progress...

Can you say that your life is complete at 25 years old ??!!
If yes, great for you, but i doubt most of us got it together by even 30...

Patience is indeed a virtue... i am not saying i have it myself... its work in progress too...

The Crew and Driveclub are coming out.

I stayed on PS3 for GT6 till Driveclub (or the Crew) came out then I'd swap. Didn't expect to still be on it, then again I have GTA V to keep me around PS3 (not for long tho!)

It looks like it will be history repeating itself for me. I didn't buy a ps3 until the eve of GT 5's release.

Perhaps GT 7 will reignite my interest by 2016 and hopefully a proper high end cross platform wheel will be out by then... I know I have no need to replace my fanatec gear, it makes more sence to pop over to PC at this point, but to be fair, being handed a Titan black gtx really lowers the bar of entry... :embarrassed:

I've had a PS4 sine release but I only get on it maybe once at week at best but I play GT6 everyday. It's starting to get back fun again since the weekly updates. Plus I've waited this long for a next gen racing game I can wait a little longer.

Kind of pointless to get a PS4 when there aren't any good racers around and you don't even know if the ones coming are any good.

I'm still waiting and in the meantime I'm enjoying my 360 and PS3 until the end, playing the games I never got to play before. I know I'll eventually get the Xbox just for Forza but I'm waiting until FM6 and GT7 arrive to make a choice.

There is literally nothing on the PS4 right now. Jumping the PS3 ship and moving towards the empty new market is silly.

My PS4 is basically a $400 controller/headset charger. Still use the trust ole' PS3 not just for GT6, but for pretty much everything.

I'm waiting for project cars to be released before buying a ps4 because I know once I get it the ps3 will probably start to gather dust. As far as GT goes, if the course maker isn't released in the next month or so I cant see myself ever buying another GT game ( providing p cars lives up to the hype) this feature is long over due and the reason I wont be pre ordering another GT game. I want to support a title that communicates with their customers and delivers promises. Not one that keeps you in the dark and builds false hope. Don't get me wrong I have enjoyed the GT series immensely but I think that is due to it being the only semi sim racer available, bring in some real competition and I think GT will be seen in a different light maybe even a shadow.

I have not and certainly will not buy a PS4 (or a XBOX One) because they dont Support the old racing wheels. I am not willing to not only buy a new console but another wheel again. How hard can it be to make the new consoles compatible to the old Controllers? Or at least allow the wheel companies to produce some adaptors?

So I am still using my trusty PS3 for some old games, I will buy Forza Horizon 2 for my X BOX 360. But all new racing games will be on a new PC. So: Goodbye to the next gen consoles

At the moment, it doesn't even matter that I can't use a wheel for PS4 or that there are no racing sims on it because I can't afford PS4 to begin with (hence why I was bummed when it was announced that PCARS would not be a PS3 title)nor a much better wheel that's compatible with both my PS3 and PC so I'm pretty much with last gen for quite a while with racing Sims I can have now. At this point, Luck is more affordable then either of them.

In Polyphony's defense, I knew I had bought an incomplete game when I bought GT6. That would be all good if it didn't take so long to patch promised features into the game. Even worse, they no longer enable us to fully enjoy GT5, which had some of these missing features from day one. I consider myself patient but it sucks that GT6 takes so long now that we're also waiting for GT7 to arrive on hardware that has been out for a good while now. Back in December I naively expected that GT6 would be complete by spring 2014.

The same for me. After completing the game 100% in 2 weeks and with barely any new content since, I have no desire to go back and play.
New cars don't really do much for me if there is nothing to do with them. Should I just grind the main campaign championships for money so that I can buy the rest of the cars? For what? There's a link here missing which I can't put my finger on.
Also people keep telling me that there's online... well, it wasn't for the online that I loved the first 4 games. So yeah, online is not gonna lure me in.
The game started awesomely, fresh new soundtracks, short loading times, fast menus and that brand new glitter. Unfortunately the lack of activities made all that irrelevant real fast.
