YEP, if you guys havent heard of this yet, its true, we are gonna enjoy GT6 in czech language as well. I cant really find the source, someone?

GT6 has the czech dubbing and subtitles as well.

(sorry if many people dont care about this czech translation stuff but some people may do so let them know, right?)

I bought my GT5 copy in Germany, and if I wanted to change the language into english it wasn´t possible. So I´m wondering, if you bought yours in Czech Rep. (edit: or Slovakia) which languages did you have to choose from, if czech obviously wasn´t supported?

Good news for you guys! 👍

Although this is the last problem GT has, I think it's good news for friends that can't even run their race when they play at my place.

You can't really change the language in any version. It just defaults to the system language of your PS3.

It has the XMB default language option and Turkish and Greek I think, so yes, I actually can change the language. If you want GT5 to be in english you have to set the XMB to english :sly:

... leaves me wondering if they are going to make Role Playing Game out of GT series.
I mean, Come on it is racing game, we don't need translation for that

Have you ever tried reading the whole description stuff about cars, licences or tuning guides? How about that?

Pretty old news but I'm glad for every translation to our (almost) language. But what i really want is Slovak PS Store, that's the real problem..

Now I think I understand, you guys didn´t even have your language in the system settings in the xmb and GT6 will offer a in-game option next to Greek and Turkish.

I can not understand novcze´s point at all. I remember when I played the first GT, we had a japanese version before it came out in europe... If someone would have come to me and say it was just about the racing and I don´t need to understand what it says I probably would have slapped him.

If I should guess I say there are at least a couple of thousand people in your country playing Gran Turismo, do you think all of them are happy with the english version? Just because you know the language doesn´t mean all your fellow countrymen do.

Tell me about it...

That is very true. And anyway, you probably wont understand this what I mean but even though my english is pretty good, I can understand pretty much everything in GT5, reading the whole car description and all the stuff what I wrote previously, thats really making me uncomfortable since I have to focus on translating the text to slovak (or czech since this thread is about czech GT6 translation not slovak :sly: )

Don't you think that Japanese language is in completely different ballpark?
Car description or tuning guides are written in not exactly complicated English and everyone should have basic knowledge of the English language. Of course for older chaps it is good ... you know that saying about old dog and new tricks (no offence).

I think English is good especially for the kids, they can get better through games, I remember myself playing Final Fantasy 7 on PS1 with English dictionary in my hand :)

Sorry man, but in all honesty, if kids should learn the basics of the English language they should do so in school, not from video games.

Just be happy your own language is finally being more acknowledged. :)

Yeah, like everyone in CZ and SK speaks English right? :sly:

Sorry man, but novcze is right about kids learning English from games. I did too. And, well, it worked as you can see, pretty good in fact.

You probably can't understand this.

I can see the benefits of this. Being English myself, I've never had a problem with the lingo in games, but I do understand how learning the language outside of schools could be beneficial.

My mother is actually a teacher, and where I live, there is a lot of families who have recently immigrated to the UK, and speak very little English. I know she has a hard time communicating with some of the kids in school, so a little help from a game could be really helpful to the person who is playing it whilst also learning the language, but it would also help other people as well, speeding up their learning time. If anything, it is a booster win/win situation, I would say. :)

However, on the note of the Czech translation - how is that a bad thing? There is obviously going to be people who live in the Czech Republic who preferably speak Czech over English or another language, who would much prefer to see the game in a language they understand better or prefer to use. I myself understand a lot of European languages quite well, but I would still prefer to read in my home language, and the one I was brought up hearing. The more translations in different dialects - the better. 👍

Czech translation is good. And about learning english from games. For 10> years old kids is possible to learn something from games, but when they are younger, i think it is not possible, they must read subtitles, which they are sometimes pretty fast, and when they wants to learn speak too, they must handle subtitles, dubbing and translating all of that in the same time... Therefore I think that translation, especialy dubbing is for kids to 10 years good

Just to be clear, I never said that's a bad thing, I sort of wondered why racing game have translation ... anyway, I have only one problem with this (at least in GT6 Academy demo), if I want to play in English and have speedometer in kmph I can't, because PD or SCEE forces me to play either in English/mph or Czech/kmph ... why oh why we don't have options like in GT5 :ouch:

GT5 didn't have that option too. Only GT5 prologue had.
