So, love the game but at first found the soundtrack a bit ...... bland blend.

Nothing initially stood out like it has in the other games - from GT1 Chemical Brothers / Manic Street Preachers "Everything Must Go" to GTS quirky band Variety Lab (I like London in the rain etc.).

On further exposure there's a couple of gems already - Khruangbin for one.

Anything you've spotted worth a listen?

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the music. I've actually disabled some of the race music tracks. Overall, I preferred the music in GT Sport, although I'm really enjoying some of the older stuff they've brought back.
I really liked how you could use your own music for races/menus in GT5. I wish that was still a thing so I could bring back Feeder and the GT1 dealership music.

Yeah, ngl. There are a lot of reused or remade music in this, mostly from GT5 Prologue for some reason as well as GT6. Makes sense, though, given that it's the 25th anniversary and all.

But then, GT6 was the 15th anniversary, and that had nothing but new music, so... shrug =/

Summer Madness slaps. Vroom too, I guess. The Gran Turismo 5 OST is as leisurely and boppin' as always. The rest, eh... Weird remixes of classical songs and bland pop songs. Not a fan.

Just got one question regarding the soundtrack. Where's that Pnau's Baby remix?!

Have you heard Weezer ("Automatic") or The Mars Volta ("Goliath") in the game?

The GT5 Prologue Soundtrack is my favorite GT music of all time. It's not the symphony style music I'm referring to, but a list of about 20 artists who did music for the prologue. I never was able to find a CD or Digital Album for the North American Exclusive Tracks. List linked below...

I mean many of the Daiki Kasho songs have been remastered and they're pretty much all amazing. What more do people want? The soundtrack is Just a Day away from being perfect.

I love the menu music. I think Gran Turismo is what got me interested in that loungey-sounding electronica like Quantic...which is now IN Gran Turismo 7, so it comes around I guess. However the music changing between menus needs to go, or at least have as a toggle on/off option.

Not impressed with the race music at all. It all seems to be cheesy Japanese rock music which isn't my thing. I like Vroom and Life's Coming in Slow, but...there's not enough songs in different genres. As I said before, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say about 50% of the songs are by Daiki Kasho. Too much.

I would like it if they added music in every update -- I know you can say "just play your own Spotify" or whatever, but I really like the stuff PD chooses themselves.

Nope. I meant most of the menu music from GT5P, not any of the licensed songs. I imagine it'd be a pain in the butt to license them again just for this game.

What more do people want?
Entirely new songs from, well, everyone. GT6 was full of them, again.

But I can understand Daiki not doing anything new since he now works on the car audio with Mike Caviezel and Alex Breuer. That, and Daiki's currently busy producing EXiNA's new album.

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say about 50% of the songs are by Daiki Kasho. Too much.
Eh, nah, think it's rightfully warranted given how much Japanese fans and PD themselves like his music, plus a whole lot of the FIAGTC/GTWS players as well.

But yeah, I hope he does new stuff through updates as well.

I can only speak for the menu music, but I also feel the game has a shortage of interesting music. The personal standout might be Summer Madness by Khruangbin.
It sounds like something out of an old David Lynch movie, and I remember the theme from an old GTA game:

On another note, Lenny Ibizarre is almost everywhere in GT7, but stylewise a major departure from his old synth-driven productions in GT Sport. However, there are some nice ones here too like Le Cygne and The Tempest To Triumph, the latter being vaguely reminiscent of old-school NFS music. Most of the rest can be summarized as generic cover versions of timeless classical pieces. Kinda meh, but it works.

Some different artists and genres maybe? We all have different tastes, not everyone likes Daiki Kasho or Lenny Ibizarre but they dominate the music selection.

You'd think with the game being published by Sony they'd be able to easily license from the Sony Music catalogue but that doesn't seem to be the case these days.

Yeah, definitely everywhere, including the...

ending movie music. Worst ending movie ever, btw.

But it's rather unsurprising since he kept showing up at the FIAGTC live events pre-pandemic as the DJ. Kaz must like his music or something to keep using him everywhere, then. shrug

I've been thinking about this myself the last few days.. i loved gt3 and 4 for their well known stuff like Lenny Kravitz, Van Halen, and Judas Priest; they also had gems by lesser known artists like 8 stops 7 and others i'd never heard of that just made the games so memorable to me.

If they add those soundtracks as dlc someday i'd buy them 😎

As for now i just have race bgm set at 4, just enough to hear that there's music, but don't get distracted by emo screams and chuck myself into a wall 🙈

Side note: the gt4 playlist selector was great too, wish 7 had that so i could actually go through and listen and turn on/off certain songs. Maybe in an update 🤷‍♀️

It's already in since launch, though? Just go to the Showcase and select Music.

Note that some songs appear to be missing and will only play in the Music Replay, like Moon Over the Castle GT7 Ver.

Thanks, i'll check it out. Only thought to go through the settings to find it 🤦‍♀️

Nah, they haven't chucked it into the Options menu since GT3. The music playlist and jukebox has been its own thing on the World Map (that, or chucked into the Library/Showcase) since GT4.

I'm a musician with a wide taste in music so I was actually really surprised by the various types of music in the game thus far. I'm hoping that the Music Rally is expanded over time. And no, I don't race with music playing in game or in the room lol, but Music Rally is different enough that I don't mind.

Riiight, it's been a while lol.. had a 360 instead of ps3 🙈

So, after a few weeks of daily use, it's growing on me...... I thought it was "bland blend" but am slowly changing my opinion.
I have the phone armed with Shazam next to me now (the tracks flicker on the screen for such a short time!) and have now downloaded a few more gems, including Derya Yildirim (very Doors feel to it on the keyboards!), Mitu and Begin...... but would still love to see Chemical Brothers / Manic Street Preachers "Everything Must Go" back as a nod to the greats! 🙏

Main reason why I shut down all music in menus. The second one is the music changing each time you change "room".

Since they are recycling some BGM from GT5/6, why not add more from 2, 3 and 4? Those games had some excellent music.

I’m not interested in generic rock or the classical remixes. But I have to say some of the electronic and lounge music (I think that’s the right name) are pretty good. To the point where I’ve added them to my Spotify list.

More traditional songs may suit movie sequences but you need something different for menus. Everyone has different musical tastes. But I’d say you're missing out if you immediately turned the menu music off. Surprisingly the music replay also works pretty well.

Some tracks I like:

I come from a time when games with licensed music were frowned upon so I'm happy with it.

Sony Interactive and Sony Music are largely independent. Heck, even between subdivisions of Sony Interactive there is corporate hell.
