Welcome to The GTA: San Andreas Challenge Race Thread, where you can make any races you want and compete with each other. If you get bored with current challenges, feel free to post your own! I will post a few challenges (see below) and you can try to get times for them. There is no deadline for any race, and you can discuss times, routes, notes, etc. in this thread.

Race 1: Suicidal Theft
Start at the Police Station next to the Las Venturas Airport, and Finish at the house in Fort Carson, with a Rhino.

No modifications or cheats are allowed.

Start from the police station near the Las Venturas Airport, and use any path you want to steal a Rhino tank and park it in the Garage in Fort Carson. Make sure you buy the property first!

Race 2: Endurance Endeavor
Start at the house in Angel Pine, and finish at the Abandoned Airstrip in Verdant Meadows.
No modifications or cheats are allowed.

Start from the house in Angel Pine, and use any path you want to go the the Abandoned Airstrip in Verdant Meadows. Along the way, you must steal the "ghost Glendale" from the double Horshoes in Back O Beyond. Then, you must drive that to Blueberry, where you are allowed (but not forced) to abandon it and take something else. Now you must drive to Hunter Quarry and take any car parked there (Dump Truck, Bull Dozer, or anything parked at the main Entrance - If you use a bike, please post so that it counts as a different, slightly easier race) and drive to the Airstrip. Once it is parked right in front of the garage, stop timing.

Race 3: Transition
Start at the the Boating school, and Finish at the Boating school.

No modifications or cheats are allowed.

Start from the Boating school, and get in a boat of your choice to begin timing. Head to San Fierro, and steal any Car (not bike) you like. Drive to the Easter Bay Airport, and steal a plane. Fly the plane back to Boating school, and step into the same boat you started in, to stop timing.

Personal best 4:06
Rules

No cheats allowed.
You can use any route and any mistakes are allowed (but not reccomended). You must time your run to the seconds place, and the game clock is reccomended. Start timing as soon as you set off and stop timing as soon as you finish. Post times and notes in this thread if you want.

Feel free to come up with your own races!

Have fun :)

Somewhat copied from WRS.

Bump.

Why doesn't anyone want to try this? Nobody wants to challenge their friends?

It would be fun to do races if we get enough people. There were about 5 races a few months ago that had some competition.

The hard thing about doing the races listed in this thread is the randomness of the vehicle spawning. I was thinking of doing a motorcycle->airplane->car race for Week 5 or 6 of the previous thread, but the airplanes at SF airport didn't spawn consistently, so that made it more of a speed run than a race. :/ But we had a few really good competitors. :)

Things are a little slow right now on this board, but I expect things will pick up a lot when the next GT installment comes out. That probably determines the number of people on this board. (And maybe when GTA IV comes out too.)

Keep in mind there is no deadline. Just post a time and other's should try to beat it. Even with no competition right now, if you posted a time right now, I bet someone would try to beat it. Nobody has to wait for it to take off before they try it.

As Evan said, it's been done similarly before.

Also, I think the other problem is, noone really plays San Andreas anymore. It didn't have the replay value that Vice City and GTA 3 had, it seems..

I thought that was what you meant. See, this is nothing like the WRS. It's more like the records thread, but with made up races. There isn't a deadline, and you just post a time and wait for someone to beat it.

Well, like I said, not many people play San Andreas anymore. I'd suggest, if you're really desperate to get this up-and-running, checking the last couple of pages of the San Andreas Record Book and PMing the more active participants, like atwyatt. Racing is probably the biggest part of the Record Book, so they might be happy to participate.

However, since there's no time limit on any of this, you're probably just going to have to wait until someone takes an interest..
