I've been getting some requests on how to edit GTA3, so i decided to put out the information so everyone has a chance to see it and work with it.
First:
Editing textures.
You are gonna need some sort of image editing program. MSpaint will work, but Paintshop Pro and Photoshop are the best.
I use PSP ver 7 and infranview
Second:
GTAResHack - the all around go-getter. allows you to browse most of the files that contain GTA textures and models. Allows exporting, but not importing models. (deal with that later)
third:
Gonna need the texture extractor programs. They are:
TXD TOOL - used for extracting, and importing, textures to and from GTA3.
IMG TOOL - basically the same as above, but also used for importing dff's (this is what you use to import models)
Fourth:
Editing/Creating custom models.
Zmodeler - used for editing models. this is what you use to make custom cars and such.
Fifth:
Creating map add-ons.
GTA3 mapper - used for creating maps. i havent used it so i can't help you with it.
All Others
CSE3 - easy to use car editor, much easier to use then editing the text files. allows you to edit speed, damage, ride height, etc.
Weapon Stat Editor - same as for CSE3, but for weapons.
GTA3 MultiEdit - all in one editor, allows you to edit most of the text files from gta3, like CSE3 and weapon editor.
Everything i mentioned here, can be found at www.gta3mods.com
Just click on the sub-categories under "programs" on the right side of the page.
If you have any questions on the PC version editing, feel free to ask them here, adn i will try my best to answer them.
