I have read the info regarding this competition and for round 2 I understand only the top 2 from the 20 national qualifiers go through to round 3, but it only gives a brief description as to what actually happens in round 2?
Does anyone know more about what tests might occur during round 2?
I never play gran turismo until GTacademy starts so I haven't spent much time playing the game itself, I'm worried that if I get to round 2 that I will be up against people that have spent a whole lot more time on the game than me, so if round 2 consists of driving other tracks or using other cars then I will be at a disadvantage.
Anyone know what to expect?

Obviously my time I have set may not be good enough yet, I am fully aware we still have a couple of weeks left but it has been on my mind since the start of the comp! I Also fully intend staying in the top 20 and I still intend on improving my time. Not happy till I make it into the 16's

From what I can gather it will be driving on the track in different races, in some form of knockout? Don't quote me on that. Although It could be more like the american one where it was point based but It will be racing on Gran Turismo Im pretty sure of that.

Last year it was at brands hatch, 5 pods side by side in a room racing a game they specailly made up for the finals, similar to the Time trial you had to download to enter, round one was two races (basically had to win one of the two to qualify-due to the points system) to semi-final, same in semi-final and then to finish top two of four in the final. Tracks included indianapolis, high speed ring, fugi, and nurburg nordscheliefe. Sorry for poor spelling.

Thanks for the info on that guys!
Since my last post I have dropped 6 places down to 19th so it looks like a quicker time will be needed anyway.

My problem is that I can't beat my time!!! Aaaaaaarrrggggghhhhhhh

The other day I was doing 17.4's to 17.8's every lap not a problem, just unlucky I didn't beat my time, then I play yesterday for over 100 laps and my best was about 18.5????? WTF is going on?

The more I play, the worse I get? I don't understand???? For some strange reason I can't get the car to turn in? Just understeers all the time, I'm now so conscious of it that I'm not sure what is going to happen next time I play!

Anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

Erm I had this very early on, I think it just requires you to rethink your lines have a look at a ghost car again, watch a few replays and such.

Tensions at the National Final in May will be running high as the cream of PlayStation 3 racers battle each other across a series of Gran Turismo 5 challenges. Marking a first for GT Academy, the National Finalists will also face additional non-gaming challenges, details of which will be unveiled in due course.

Strange, I wonder what these non-gaming challenges will be?? Arm wrestling? Snooker?

Where did u copy that from please?
That is good news, I just hope I make it to round 2!!! Currently sitting at 20th place BUT.....

I think I know why I have been unable to improve my time!
It seems I have a faulty throttle pedal on my logitech gt steering wheel.
When I'm on full throttle the bar on screen is flickering between 3/4 and full depending on how it feels. Sometimes it is showing full but most of the time its flickering, loose or worn connection I expect! This has to resulting in 5% power loss I guess so although I have not really noticed the loss, it will no doubt affect my time.
Not sure how long it's been like that but it makes sense as to why I have been unable to beat my time for the last 10 days! Jesus how many hours have I just wasted!!! Ggggrrrrrrrrrr that makes me sick!

Anyway first thing tomorrow I will straight down to my fav shop (not) Argos to buy another wheel! £85 down the drain!

But least I know I will have a chance to improve my time!

Sounds definitely like a faulty pot, good luck 👍

Yep, sure was!

New ones are working fine now, has taken me all this time to get back into it as the car drives completely different now.
My old pedals were not giving full power and was sticking on a tiny bit so it made the car understeer on every bend!

Am I going to need to improve my time?

Do I need a 16???
