I would go with this as some others have chosen to do.
Why?
As much as it is the most boring (and therefore apt), it is also the most professional, most official, most representative of the GTPlanet face at the moment, taking away subtly from the 'red' (which GT seems to have got rid of) while yet retaining that old flavour of GT's charisma overlaid on what GTPlanet is - a community of die-hard videogamers, whether ex- or current or future.

If you're using GIMP (which I'm certain you are), try making your gradients and color refills on a new layer and hide the old layer. I think the 'gtplanet' part of your banner would benefit greatly so you don't get those jaggies.

The GTP lettering is actually on it's own layer, and done wrong obviously. I don't have a matching font on my computer, but I could do what I've done with other images to fix it.

POST LIKE EDIT: In the mean time, here is V3 with that bit altered a bit. I'll work on the lettering itself later. I have a headache now looking at fix attempt #1.

RE-EDIT: Got it done. Imperfect, of course, but it works better.
