Reliable, well made, and neigh on indestructible in a crash. Buuuut it looks like something a boring grandpa would drive, and it's basically the official car of hipsters.

Uncool

Love a good Volvo brick, and the 200 series is one of, if not the best. Just something about a big Swedish box that makes it cool, plus the 240 Wagon is one of my favorite estates of all time.

Remember sitting in the back of a 7 seater 240 Wagon, with it's rear facing seats at the back, which felt like big leather sofas .

On top of that the 2.3 "redblock" engine is a brilliant unit, and can take the punishment along with a fair bit of power, and with the 200 series being rwd, it can make a neat drift bus :sly:.

Easy cool for me.

This thing is a chick magnet. As in this car and females have the same polarity so it drives them away.

Uncool, bordering on Seriously Uncool.

Not only a few participated in racing event, this is one few instances normal cars, can be cool. And this one, for the country of Sweden, did really good. Cool.

The 240 Turbo and its ETCC exploits aside, there's nothing cool about these cars.

Some of the design variations are ugly as two carp chasing the same piece of corn.

There are far better Volvos out there from that time period.

Uncool

Built like a brick, looks like one and would probably drive like one too.

Uncool.

Unmistakably cool in my book.

The 240, later models especially, always managed to have a low-key but classy look to it. It was humdrum and interesting that the same time.

Always had a soft spot for these.
My grandad had one in blue. I remember the blue interior too.

If I had money to burn on a car collection I'd have one just to sit in for the memories. Cool.

Somehow, a friend of mine had one of these. An '84 diesel model. I got to ride in it, awesome little thing.

It's a shame he's fallen victim to Usher Syndrome. I'd love to buy the little thing off of him one of these days.
