I'm not quite sure what it is that I love about boxy American cars from the 80s, but this is doing it right. Cool.

Can't tell whether this is classy or sleazy. I think probably both. Looks like the sort of car in the '80s that Mel Gibson would hijack to chase down a villain, perhaps while the stereotypical 'business guy' owner is still sitting in the passenger seat.

All things considered, I kinda like it. The little Pininfarina badge normally knocks the coolness up a notch. The hard top doesn't suit it at all though.

Oddly, my first thought was that it'd be something that Joe Pesci would drive in one of his ancillary shyster film roles in the 1980s.

So probably Lethal Weapon 2 then.

This makes a Vauxpel Cavalier convertible look like an MX-5.

Seriously Uncool

It's not a popular opinion, but I think these are cool. They're for people who appreciate cars but don't want to drive fast. They're fairly subtle but the looks are well judged. In 1990 it would be hideously uncool, but today there's just something about it.

It didn't try anywhere near as hard as other GM models to maintain the long-outdated 70s look that was still common practice right through to the early 90s. That bumps it up to uncool.

So probably Lethal Weapon 2 then.

I think the closest Mel got was shooting out the tyres on Pesci's Allante in Lethal Weapon 3.

And if IMCDb is anything to go by, it was only ever driven by shysters, rich 80s college girls, and cops who happened to commandeer them from shysters or 80s college girls.

The new Allante!

With a decent set of wheels and a better colour this car would look a lot better. For cruising in classic 80's style. And 295hp on the front wheels. Hilarious.

Cool.

Google tells me that Pesci's character drove an Allante in Lethal Weapon 3

Edit: I see Wiegert beat me to it!

Huge fan of 80's American cars. Bring in this being a unique car from one of my favorite brands, it gets a cool.

Meh, I wouldn't be able to even tell if this was a Caddy if I saw it rolling down the road.

I generally think most American cars (especially luxury cars) from the 1980s are uncool. I'm not sure what it is about the Allante, but it interests me. I quite like the look of it as well. Solid cool, even if it's FWD.

Hmm I like a lot of 80s cars and I am liking this, although a few more horses out of that engine capacity wouldn't go amiss, but hey welcome to US cars of the 80s (plus most of the 70s).

A Cool from me, Kelly Bundy, Joe Pesci and Famine's bizarrely perceptive skillz just seal it.

Edit: Even looks sorta like a Mercedes SL500 in profile if you squint. Kinda sorta.

If this car were RWD, I probably would have gone with Cool, it's just Cheesy enough to be so for me, but the FWD V8 ruins it
