Jesus Christ just look at it. It's like an actual personification of what manly men think Miatas are. Plus the honeys you might initially disarm because they think you're a token gay guy from a 90's sitcom aren't going to want anything to do with you when they get soaked because the roof leaks.

Plus, you know, it's not a CR-X.

Slightly biased as I co-owned one for about 3 years, but a nice solid Meh.

Ours leaked, and rust eventually killed it...

That might be the most overly complicated convertible design ever put into a production car.

It's a Targa.

"That might be the most overly complicated way to remove a roof that has ever been put into a production car"

Better?

But really isn't a targa is a form of a convertible top since all a convertible is, is a vehicle that can convert itself into an open air cabin from an enclosed one?

I used to own one of these a fair few years ago (JDM SiR). It was modified but no tacky bodykit, not even a OEM rear boot spoiler.

I think these are quite cool cars. More-so ones that are untouched, which is quite a rarity nowadays unfortunately. When I do see one of these on the road (that hasn't been molested), it still sets off a spark of wanting one again.

It's not all rose tinted spectacles though, more a case of rain drenched sunglasses.. It's never funny when the UK weather turns from beautiful sunny sunshine to pissing it down. Especially when the plastic cogs in the roof mechanism decide they've had enough - roof half closed - and there doesn't appear to be a crank key for the manual winding mechanism, where it's meant to be. Not very cool, felt like a right pillock that day.. Every other day in it, I felt (and most probably looked) like the Fonz.

Musters a cool because bias. :D

Yep.

Neat roof. Shame it was paired with a glorified Civic and given a name more befitting of a public transport firm.

I can see it now, you roll up to a club looking to score, upon arrival you hear a half drunk chick say "OMG look at that car it's so cute!!!", essentially ending your chances of getting any.

"Cute" = Uncool.

I like the Del Sol. I think it's rather quirky and in terms of power, it's pretty good. Cool

For all the times I've wanted to buy one of these, I've never actually seen one on the road in my life. Ever.

I'm not sure what way to go on this one.

Sure, it's got great potential as a performer, but it looks pretty sorry for itself. I like it, but it's Uncool.

"That Honda didn't equip the roadster-like del Sol in the wake of Miata domination with an RWD configuration can be forgiven. That it offered it with its least powerful SOHC 1.5L D series cannot."
- Aaron Bonk on the '93 del Sol S, in his '10 Worst Hondas of All Time' list.

Did not know about the power roof, which is kind of neat. Had to watch a couple youtube videos to see how it works.

The rest of the car is so SU it doesn't matter though.

God I always thought this car was so ugly. Side profile of the car looks so weird. Front end looks some what like a Toyota soarer..... SU

I remember being little thinking these things were midship. Then one day I was playing gran turismo ( I think 2 ) and I saw the drivetrain was fwd haha.

Didn't used to see the point of these, but wasn't aware of the removable roof. Never saw one with the roof down here in the UK, imagine that. So makes more sense now, peppy pokey engine, not unattractive, still not a CRX but scrapes a low Cool from me.

Never liked the Del Sol that much. It always struck me as very girly car, even more than the Miata. The first CR-X is much cooler.

Just Uncool

Looks like it would be fun to throw around but its just a glorified Civic with a silly overcomplicated roof. Meh.
