Body Style: 4-door sedan
Engine: 5.7L V8 (Holden 308 with Harrop Stroker kit)
Power: 288 hp (additional ~25hp with blueprinted engine)
Torque: 350 lb-ft (additional ~30 lb-ft with blueprinted engine)
Weight: 1629 kg
Transmission: Tremec T56 6-speed manual
Drivetrain: Front-engined, rear wheel drive.
Additional Information: Based on the VS Commodore of the 90s, the HSV GTS-R was pretty much the automotive equivalent of Vegemite. You either loved it or you hated it.

The car featured bright “XU-3 Yellah” yellow paint, 17×7 charcoal grey three-spoke wheels, GTS-R embossed door and seat trim, huge carbon fibre V8 Supercar-inspired rear wing and side skirt inserts, heavily bolstered sports seats, and 330mm front brakes.

85 examples were built at AU$76,000 apiece, or about $120,000 in today's money (for comparison, the latest HSV GTS costs roughly AU$105k on-the-road)

If there's ever room in my garage for one extremely trashy factory/performance model, I'm looking at it right now.

Otherwise, it's one for the bogan lottery winners. Seriously uncool.

I think I have a 1:18 model of this, which is weird given I hate triangle rims and a cheap, tacked on look spoiler. However for some reason, I could never hate it.

I don't think I'll ever find Australian cars cool, mainly because of certain members of their over-the-top fan base.

288 hp, 350 torque, 1629 kg and $120k.

It truly is a great time to be a car enthusiast when you can get a 4 door sedan with 700 hp for $70k.

What could you get back then for $120k (or $76k I suppose)?

It looks like a badly modified car you'd find on a used car listing being touted as a "pure-bred track racer, 6k ono". Except... that's how it left the factory.

Whoever okayed this, I hope they got sacked.

Dunno about the US. AU$76k back then was roughly $56k USD, but if you wanted a larger performance sedan with a stick shift from back then the Volvo 850 R was three grand dearer, had less power and far less torque but was lighter. Aside from that though the GTS-R was in a class of 1 in the Australian market (aside from other HSVs of course); it was a similar price to a base model Audi A6 or an E34 520i.

I voted cool and I don't want to change it.

Should I seek medical attention, or should I take the hate in like it's spray paint and let my lungs take it all in?

An unsure "Cool."

Yes?

Stupid wheels, stupid wing, stupid car

Ironic, when it was you that voted SZ on that monstrosity of a car.

I'll never understand you. As for the car, gave it a Low Cool. In love with the tri-spoke rims but I do agree the modifications are a little tacky. But far from too much rice. it's respectable and plus, gives me memory of a free racing game I've played in the past years.

This car isn't funny bad, it's just bad. It's like comparing this past weekends All Star Race to the 2008 Brickyard 400, the All Star Race made no sense and was actual fun as a result, the 2008 Brickyard 400 just plain sucked.

Sorry, I don't follow NASCAR. Left turns and non-rain races bore me anyway.

Think of it this way, this crash was entertaining to watch because it was such a massive trainwreck

This one isn't entertaingly huge, it's just a single car crash

Razormoblie reminds me of the first one, whereas this car reminds me of the second one.
