Nicer to drive than most compacts, but lacked the engaging communicativity of the car that preceded it, and the overwhelming competence of the car that followed it.

The Mazdaspeed was as much fun as a bucket of monkeys, but overall, meh. Especially considering the global Focus (or as Famine would put it... the "Porkus") that had the same chassis, suspension (they're almost interchangeable with only a bit of adjustment) and engine blocks, was a hell of a lot nicer to drive. Despite being heavier, all around. (Yup. Porkus)

So meh, meh, meh. It looked cool-ish... but meh.

SP23 brings it out from the Mehness to a low Cool.

Not a fan of boggo Focus' over this though it's tough between XR5 Turbs and 3 MPS. 3 I reckon edges it out for sheer hilarity of power and that weaponised torqueband (80-120km/h in 3-and-a-bit seconds is seriously quick).
