Hey, maybe I want to drive around looking like a total idiot sometimes. Cool.

I don't know, sounds like a fair but of strong dislike at least, if not quite hate.

That just looks like people explaining why they voted the way they did - explaining why they consider it cool or uncool, not why they like or dislike it.

A Corvette is absolutely pointless everywhere.
Unless your country has race tracks or unlimited speed roads.

too much power for 2WD.
I don't put much stock in this. Granted it's easy to make a stupidly powerful car with underwhelming grip and control, but don't go by your average road going supercar to judge where the limits of grip are. If you're serious about taking a car like this to the limit, then better rubber is usually an easy option. After that there are aftermarket parts, some of which may get around the hurdles of road regulations.

On the car itself, the engine is the only thing I'd say is an issue. The body kit is functional which is a passing grade in my book, though it would have been better off if it was left to the engineers alone to define. Really, aero parts look good. Functional aero parts look really good. Stop making them ugly and lowering their performance.

it already has some of the stickiest roadlegal rubber out there and it still kicks tail out.. ON THIRD GEAR. And this was supposed to be the trackday version.

No matter how much journalists say it's a lot better than the previous generation, the Corvette still always manages to be not-quite-as-good as other cars you should be able to afford, if you can afford a Corvette. It's been the same story with every generation since I can remember. They come out, journalists praise it for being built better and a better driver than before, a few years go by, same journalists then admit it was never actually reliable, and it's rattly, plasticy, built not up to par with current sports cars.........etc. Then the next gen comes out and it's rinse and repeat. Anyway, it's also quite ugly imo. Uncool.

Sub-Zero. The whole purpose of the Corvette is to provide hypercar performance for sports car price. This latest one doesn't disappoint. Even the base $50,000 Stingray is faster around TTGT than a $300,000 Ferrari 599 and the $500,000 McLaren Mercedes SLR. Shame Top Gear is no longer with us; I would have loved to see what the new Z06 with the Z07 package would have done in the hands of the Stig...

That's like saying that if a car has a problem, manufacturer doesn't need to even try to fix it, because aftermarket will sort it out anyway. I'm not saying that the Corvette needs to have better way to put the power to the road, as even though, it sort of tries to be a hardcore track car it really isn't one. But, as the Cool Walls are mostly about stock cars, giving a list of aftermarket options as a defence for having bad grip, won't make the problem go away.

I love all Corvettes and as an Australian, I think that V8's are awesome. Cool

The styling on the Corvette C7 was already fine, but the plastic-looking black bits used for the front splitter and the rear spoiler are just hideous. Seriously Uncool.

A track car doesn't need to be road legal though. Third gear may or may not be an issue depending on where you're driving it. Depending on how much weight you can toss out of it and how much you can increase the downforce, that issue might go away altogether.

It's not an excuse. Making a road car implies some limitations which modifications might let you get around. If you want the most from the car, don't settle for the mass market standard version that has to appeal to enough people to sell. That will hold well whether or not the car is an engineering marvel or complete garbage in stock form.

All I was really saying is that I don't feel like this is necessarily the limit for 2WD, or even FR performance. While it is clearly a performance model, it is not nearly as dedicated as an actual race car, or even ultra light street legal track cars like Radicals. I really do wish the C7 wasn't so heavy. Weight should be the principle concern of any sports car, but it usually takes a back seat to power, comfort, and aesthetics.

I totally get the David v Goliath appeal, I do, but where's the sense in comparing it to two cars that were out of production before it was introduced? It skews the entire comparison.

Anywho, voted Uncool. Performance is great, but it's far uglier than the stock C7, and from an enthusiast point of view, is a two-steps-forward-three-steps-back sort of situation compared to the C6 Z06/ZR1.

It's definitely uncool. Way too tacky looking.

Not exactly sure why anyone would want one here though, at £90-100K for LHD and a plastic interior. At least the C7 performs very well on the limit.

buddy on Flickr just spotted one of these in a location that should get some lulz...

Uncool. Looks okay from a front 3/4, looks terrible from the rear, and the Corvettes that are here (which is a particularly low number because of LHD conversions) are typically driven from what I've seen by the sort of cashed up bogans that believe it's the second-coming of Mr. Christ. Or in their case, the VZ Monaro.

It's uncool since people will see it as tacky or a bit vulgar.

With that said, I love it! :D
I like the higher performance cars that get more aggressive looking and yes; it is probably loud. Which is why I once again will say that it's not a car I would on the main roads. I prefer back roads where noone is around, I really prefer being alone.

You see, in a country that's utterly dominated by Audis, BMWs, AMG-Mercedes' and Porsche, I'd consider someone cool for going against the grain and picking a less represented car that offers great performance at a decent price point. From what I've seen and heard, the Z06's interior is considerably better than previous generations, too, so it's not like you're shooting yourself in the foot for being an automotive hipster. You're probably getting more performance out of it than out of a European car for a comparable price.

Not defaulting to one of the locally made 'go-fast-cars', that's cool - the Z06 might be loud and flashy but to me, it'd look like an informed choice made by someone who doesn't just go with an M4 because "that's what everyone does, must be the best choice."

It doesn't have too much power for 2WD, it has too much power for FR. The Corvette is the pioneer of making old school tech work, and it's actually doing a damn good job.

Yeah but we're talking about a user that at every place imaginable hates the fact that they use old tech and thinks it archaic to keep doing so (even though GM many times makes it work better than more modern stuff). And even though the stuff is a bit old, the direct injection and other bits aren't, so old mixed with the right amount of new at a wonderful price...sign me up as usual.

Meanwhile in America...

Most people call that Carbon Fiber, but yeah black plastic could be a slang I guess. "Joe I love the black plastic on your super car"

Joe: "it's called carbon fiber"

Pete: "Is that French?"

Technically, they both have polymer components that significantly impact the material behavior under various types of conditions, load and processes, among other things?
