To discuss how you define cool or what makes cars cool/uncool please visit this thread by Stotty:
How do you define a 'COOL' car?

===

You may not currently place you nominations in this thread and please follow the rules.

===

Rules:
  • Only one car per person until your car has been polled, then you are free to make another suggestion.
  • Please post the model year range the car was made, if you do not post a year range your nomination gets skipped.
  • Please be specific in nominating your car (engine, chassis, etc.), failure to do so will result in a skip.
  • Do not nominate any of the exact same vehicles that have already been polled.
  • Racecars are allowed, please be accurate about it though. Include team, racing series, etc.
  • Concept cars are not allowed, if the car is questionable I'll ask you to prove to me it's in production.
  • Only nominations made in this thread will be added to the list, please do not write on my GTP wall, PM me or e-mail suggestions.
  • Please post basic specs or a link to basic specs with your nomination, failure to do so will have it skipped over.
  • Get your post right first time, I'm not going to look through post edits to find a year has been added to a suggestion and then people moan that I haven't changed it. You've been warned.
  • Cars will be selected in chronological order, so it's first come first served.
  • Please try and be original, you are free to nominate anything that fits in the rules but nominating something like a Ferrari F50 is a bit pointless. Like I said though, you are free to nominate how you see fit.
  • If your nomination is skipped, you will have a chance to redo it, however please make a new post as I am not going back to the previous incorrect post. Your nomination will also go to the bottom of the queue.

===

How it Works:
  • You nominate a car and it goes into the queue, barring you followed the rules.
  • The nomination list will be closed once the queue has reached 30.
  • The nomination list will be opened on the first of every month and then refilled to 30 vehicles.
  • A poll will be created at least every three days, based on the next car on the list. No more than one poll per day will be posted.
  • The poll will be left open for three days allowing member to vote on the four levels of coolness.
  • The level that gets the most votes is what the vehicle is determined to be.
  • If the car gets extraordinary results, it will be placed in a special category.

Can we actually have a cool wall? I'd be willing to volunteer some sort of time to actually making and updating the image as to where every car places on the Subzero-Seriously Uncool spectrum. I understand the debating value, but what I like seeing on the TG wall is the actual visual of the whole wall.

I'd like to nominate the SN-95 2 2003 Mustang SVT Cobra.
The "Terminator" :nervous:

03_Cobra_Burnout.jpg

IMO, this car is one of the top Mustangs ever built, one day holding a spot in history like the Boss Mustangs and the Mach 1's of the 60's and 70's.

Ford-Mustang_SVT_Cobra-2003.jpg

After so long, Ford got it right with this car, no longer were they lagging behind the Camaro in the horse power war, they were giving the top trim Corvette Z06 and Dodge Viper a run for their money.
The SVT Cobra in the 2003 model year was a good looking car, a new bulged hood, flared fenders, new front and rear fascia, as well as a decklid spoiler helped add to the macho look of the car. The hood and decklid are composite panels to save weight.

Under the hood was a 4.6L modular DOHC 4 valve superchaged V8.

1999-2000-2001-2002-2003-2004-ford-.jpg

The motor in factory form made a hefty 390hp/300Kw +/- @6000rpm and 390LBft of torque at 3500rpm. It's said that Ford had under rated the Cobra, the cars SAE corrected flywheel horsepower being 400. I can't verify that however. The supercharger is an Eaton M112 roots type, producing 8psi of boost. Most impressive are the cast iron block and forged internals, capable of handling MASSIVE power outputs, which are not hard to attain with a larger more efficient twin-screw supercharger like a Kenne Bell, or turbochargers. The motor was connected to a Tremec T-56 6-speed transmission, the first year this was offered for a factory Mustang outside of the the Cobra R.

Wheelbase: 101.3 inches
Length: 183.5 inches
Width: 73.1 inches
Height: 52.5 inches
Front/Rear: Track 60.3/60.3 inches
Weight: Coupe: 3665lbs Vert:3750
Yes by some standards it's heavy, however the weight does not seem to slow it down. Thanks to It's independent rear suspension and larger brakes, the car is still plenty capable of doing well in autocross, or just being shot around a road course. Even with the independent rear suspension, the car was no slouch on the drag strip pulling low to sub 13 second 1/4 mile times.

100_0378.jpg

While inside the car is nothing to really look at, that was never quite the point of owning a Cobra, more going like a bat out of hell with your hair on fire. It's not a refined car, it is loud and aggressive, yet also reliable cheap(relatively) fun. However an interior that looked like it came from 1994 is pretty weak, thankfully the rest of the car was not. Even with the shortcomings on the interior, these beasts still pull within $10,000 of their MSRP from 6 years ago at resale.
2004-mustang-cobra-interior.jpg

Some performance numbers for a stock 2003 Cobra:

Base Price: 33,000$ USD
0-60: 4.5 seconds
1/4 Mile: 13.0/- seconds
Skid pad grip: 0.90g's
Top Speed: 155 Mph electronically limited.

What it is stock- (Pulley/Exhaust, but what Mustang does not have exhaust???)

These two videos aren't so much relevant to the car being cool, rather to show the capability of the 4.6L engine under the hood when force fed more PSI.

Not so stock-

If you are willing to do it, I'm all for it. I've seen your artistic skills and they are ace! I don't really have an artistic bone in my body so whatever I came up with would be boring.

The existing results are here:

What study doesn't follow a bell-shaped curve? Damn that thing to hell.

 I thought the same thing when I saw it...guess it's just human nature for the majority to be in the middle.

Peugeot 306 GTI-6

One of the best FWD drivers cars ever made... and it does it so effortlessly, without all the showmanship and drama of the Integra.

1962-2000 Mini Cooper...the "classic" Cooper

001.jpg

Arguably one of the most influential cars of the 20th century...actually it's the second most influential but really who's keeping track?

A fast car that happens to be practical. Very cool.

Now for something completely different:
hyundai-genesis-sedan-pictures.jpg

It's secretly Korean, yes, but think about it for a second. It's subtle, dignified, rare, and fast in a straight line. Any girl would be delighted to ride in one of these, so keep all your fiddly Bimmers to yourselves.

The amazing Hyundai Genesis 4.6! Truly a special moment when one passes by.

Every three days won't really cut it I can see, perhaps every day or every other day I'll have to make a new thread for voting.

Why not every two days, that would be three cars a week. Or just see how the Evo X poll turns out after a day or two and go off of that? Maybe one day might not be enough?

You're going to have your work cut out for you. I doubt the endless stream of nominations will be ending all that soon. I'd recommend taking nominations in batches of ten or having the thread open for a couple days, and then closing nominations while you make polls for the cars nominated in that batch. Because otherwise you're going to have a backlog of nominations that grows much faster than the cars that can be polled. Until there are no more cars to nominate or everybody loses interest.

I would like to nominate the Volkswagen Golf I GTI

car_photo_219650_7.jpg

The original hot hatch, and a car that still maintains its desirability. And probably one of the more important vehicles of the 20th century.

I would like to nominate the 1990 Volkswagen Corrado G60.
modelpicture.php

I want to nominate it for a few reasons. One. becuase I have one and love it:). Two, the amount of technology put into this car (even though some of it is more complicated than it needs to be) is pretty cool. It seems like the And three, the VW crowd likes them, but what do others think?
Here are some videos.

Sorry about that music, I just like the loud supercharger.
Here is the original commercial.

If I make a new poll every day or every other day we'll blow through the fast. If it gets to be to much then we'll cap it. At least there will be more activity in the Cars in General section outside "Hey I want to buy a new car" threads.

Plus you forget I have virtually no life and I sit in front of a computer hours upon hours everyday.
