Background: You may know that car-spotting is a hobby that I really enjoy. Now that the weather is getting cold, it's harder to go out and find cool cars, in the wild. Lately, I've been on Google Maps street view, doing virtual car spotting. Basically, I'd look in the town I live in, big cities, and small towns, and search for interesting vehicles.
I have decided to invite GTP into the Google car spotting action by making it into a challenge. This is an idea that I've thought of for a few weeks, and I've finally decided to start it. Below is how the challenge works, the rules of it, and the first mission.
How it works:
80's Volkswagen Westfalia in San Franscsco, California, USA.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or want to clear up any confusions, let me know!

1. Any BMW M car made before 2000.
2. Any pickup truck made before 1990, in good condition.
3. Any Japanese sports car made in the 1990's.
4. Any donk car or SUV (on custom rims that look 21 inches or bigger)
5. Any purple car.
Bonus car: Pontiac Sunbird
Location: Anywhere in the Eastern parts of America. Do not go west of the Mississippi River.
Have fun!
I have decided to invite GTP into the Google car spotting action by making it into a challenge. This is an idea that I've thought of for a few weeks, and I've finally decided to start it. Below is how the challenge works, the rules of it, and the first mission.
How it works:
- Each challenge will have five different cars for people to find.
- The person who creates the challenge (the winner of each round) can choose what cars they want people to find, and what locations you can search. I will create the first challenge.
- If you find a car needed for the challenge, be sure to screenshot it! You will need to post a picture of that car, and it's location, for proof. By location, I mean the town, state/province, and country. The name of the street the car was found on does not need to be posted.
- First to spot all five cars is the winner, and the winner creates the next challenge. There is no time limit.
- If one of the cars required to complete the challenge is too hard for you to find, look for the bonus car instead.
- In order for the car you spotted to be counted, you must post a picture of it, and the location.
- The car you post must be exactly the same as the car needed for the challenge. For example, you post a 535i M-Sport when the objective is to find an M5. The 535i will not be counted, even though it's similar.
- The pictures must be from Google Maps.
- Dealership spots do not count.
- For expensive or novelty cars, search in downtowns of major cities, affluent communities, and beach towns.
- For obscure cars, search in cities like Portland or San Francisco (if you are allowed).
- For junky cars, search lower-income areas.
- More obviously, if you're looking for muscle cars, search America. For kei cars, search Japan. Hot hatches? You'll have luck in Europe.
