Race Specifics:
  • The event MUST be run using your registered account
  • The use of the clutch that is found on the G25, G27, and other high end racing wheels is strictly prohibited.
  • Use of the Handbrake is Prohibited.
  • No Contact with walls or other objects. Any contact with walls, no matter how minor, will result in a DQ.
  • All hard surfaces are track, just don't hit the walls.
Steward's Comments:
This is a grippy, quick shifting AWD, on a classic city circuit. The AYC adjustment should allow you to find the right amount of slip/grip to suit your personal driving style. Have Fun. :D

Viewing your Time Splits:
  • You need to make sure you save the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay' (See pic below)
  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Home' and watch the replay from there using the 'Gallery' option.
  • Live timing monitor does not work properly, so we have to use a small trick to view splits.
  • While viewing your Replay, pause the lap by hitting start, before the end of the first sector.
  • While keeping the replay paused, advance the replay, using the forward arrow on the replay HUD. This will advance the replay to the end of the first sector. That's your T1 split, write it down.
  • Advance the replay again. That will show the lap to date time on the screen, this is your first and second sector time, added together.
  • To post your T1 Splits, simply post the lap to date times that are shown in the middle of the screen. Do not try to calculate the actual T2 split time, the Fetchbot will do that for you.

Standard Clean OLR Rules:
  • At Least 2 Tires must be in contact with track at all times.

    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires in-line would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind, these are relaxed races and we are experienced racers, we know what times can be done, and we can read your mind.We will know.
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules

Thread rules:

The following information cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed via other private conversation methods):

  • Total Lap Time
  • Any information which can be used to infer your total laptime

The following information can be discussed in this thread :

  • The first 2 splits: T1 & T2 times
  • Any settings discussion

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 55 Submission ) to (WRSFetchbot):

  • Then attach your 'Best Lap'/'Ghost' replay in zip file form. Everyone submits a replay instead of listing a lap time.
  • You will need to put something in the message body in order to begin a conversation. It doesn't matter what you put, it can even be 1 letter or symbol. Nobody but the Fetchbot is going to see it, so it's sort of pointless, anyhow.
  • You will get an automated response within 15min, letting you know whether your submission was accepted, or if you had an error.
  • If you have an error, don't panic. Just review the instructions for submission and submit again. If you are having trouble and cannot figure it out, please post your question in the race thread.
  • Users can ask the bot for the current submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week XX Get Entry" and any text in the body.
  • Users can delete their submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week XX Remove Entry" and any text in the body.
  • If you want to submit multiple times in the week that is still not a problem. Just reply to the conversation with your new time and new replay. Fetchy always uses the last submitted time as the final one.
  • See this screenshot as an example on how to submit:

  • The deadline is Monday, February 9th 11:59pm GMT
  • If you are unsure of the deadline try this site

Why Use GMT?:

GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.

Replay Checking:
  • Everyone is required to submit a replay for verification. This happens when you submit to the Fetchbot, and the replays will be visible in the leaderboard, once we've reached the event deadline
  • Participants will be expected to check each others' replays for cleanliness, for replays marked in the Results thread as (Check Needed)
  • Video replays are not accepted as a form of verification

Hey Jordan :D

Forgot to change the oil!

Hey, its Brandon!!!!!!! Its been awhile my friend, great to see you're still around. Hope all is well for you. I've just recently came back to the WRS myself to make a run at D1. Hopefully we can fall back into our old ways of pushing one another up the ladder, even though I see you are a bit ahead of me now. :P Look forward to our old shenanigans. :mischievous:

Anyways, the forecast here in the Detroit area is for 8-12" of blowing and drifting snow to start later tonight so it looks like I'll be snowed in (not really, I have a 4x4 Durango :P) with nothing else to do but concentrate on this. :D Going to get started now so, good luck everyone and may you all reach your goals. (except you Brandon. :sly: :mischievous: )

@EDK Just for clarification, the concrete on the 90 degree corners is NOT considered part of the track, right? In other words, if you short cut those corners by having all four tires on the concrete, then its dirty, correct?

EDIT: I just seen this.
All hard surfaces are track, just don't hit the walls.
So I guess it is legal to run on that concrete. Thanks. :sly:

7 Laps, of which 2 were clean.

I have absolutely no idea on the last sector. I suppose I have a week to work it out :)

Last sector is still woeful, but knocked almost a second off. Have set myself a target, but am not massively far away from it. Might need to revise it if I can get the last sector sorted.

Is your “Check Engine” light on? Is steam coming from your hood? These might be signs that your car is overheating.

Sorry, just seen that quote in the GTP News section and thought it kind of funny....and odd. :odd: Nothing like stating the obvious, eh? Anyways, no splits yet, got stuck watching my gf's favorite movie, "Purple Rain." Somebody help me.... Maybe the TV will mysteriously blow up.

That will do for tonight.

Wow , how the hell are you over .500 faster than me in the second sector. :odd: I thought I was doing decent but looking at my splits, I have no idea how to find that much time in that second sector. I gotta be doing something wrong or something. :boggled:

EDIT: Yea, judging by guessing at your goal, I am way, way off that time. I'm pretty decent at this track so this has me really stumped as to why I'm so slow. I'm way off the pace here and have no idea why. Baffled man, truly baffled. I need a drink.

To be fair, most of my quick laps now are with a 32.2xx, because I am still trying to work out the last sector.

Missing the apex, and a slightly scrappy exit really kills the lap in this car.

Lowest t1 I've had was a .255 on screen. Seems like when I get a good run out of the first horseshoe, I end up to fast for the left right section and slam the wall. Probably won't run this again until next weekend.

Was enjoying it til I started trying to go quickly

So, no oracle or anything since I barely race these days, but FWIW:

YAC (or whatever it's called) 50 (Higher value seemed to mean looser, crazier, lunatic car)
BB 4/6

Use 1st gear for turn 1, this thing has colossal engine braking and using high revs and downshifting actually seems to keep it quite stable. Give it a try and see if it suits!

Gears used: 1 (decel only, 2 to exit), 4 (part throttle), 3 (then potential upshift to 4, if you like), 3, 3, 2, 2, 3

Matt

Howdy Y'all!
It's been 14 long busy weeks since I've WRSed , but I've got some time this week to give this excellent combo a try.
I started with stock AYC and struggled to turn in. Then I set AYC at 130 and suddenly it drives like a Lotus Elise with a loose tune, it's a handful but also extremely fun to toss around. Now I understand the word 'Drift' in the title.
Thanks to Kev for another seriously fun combo. 👍

Ahhh, now I see how you guys are putting in such quick lap times....you're changing the oil first. Very sneaky you guys are.....holding back this very valuable piece of information. Guess you guys didn't think I would eventually figure it out, uh? Who would have thought that putting new oil in would make you faster? I'm going to start doing this to all my cars from now on. Luckily, Inspector Gadget (my girlfriend) was on the case. Well worth the extra effort to stop by the oil change place and putting new oil in. Anyone else that's having problems, that seems to be the key. Put new oil in first before attempting any laps.

Not liking the transmission, cannot hear it. I wish my bike was like that.
-sorry-

I agree, the tranny is weird. I can't hear it when I down shift to 3rd and 2nd for turn 1.

Just a heads up, you need to edit your splits and repost them, those aren't correct.
