GTPAAC Participant Meetings and Polls (UPDATED, 2/11)

News - 2/11: I'm thinking of moving the contest so that it will start on friday afternoons, and end on friday nights or saturday mornings. i've been thinking about this throughout the week, and have decided that friday intervals would be the best bet. i didnt want to start a new competition and wait a whole extra week to put this into action. however, i'm not going to change anything without you guys voting on it and discussing it...so please voice your opinions in this thread. I believe a friday start will allow us all to get a jump start on our cars, as we will have the whole weekend to utilize. i can either start a competition for sunday the 13th as planned, or i can start one tommorow morning to go with the new schedule. it all depends on how much feedback i get in this thread.

along with the above, i've also taken the week to consider Mr. Esperante's suggestions. tell me what you all think, and maybe we can start a fresh, revamped program.

sorry guys. i will have to hold competitions until i get back home. i am currently in arkansas for the holidays...and thus, i have VERY limited internet access. we are way away from the city, so server lines suck. lol.

i'll try and do polls today, but i left my dino pic at home, so that will have to wait. i'll just make the polls today, or try to do as much as i can anyway.

I think "concept" competitions are a good idea.. we should definately be free to create a unique concept of the base car.. i think guidelines just restrict us unless they are very general and loose.

base cars should be simple, and known. for instance, the 94+ camaros.. easily recognizable, and should hold plenty of surprises

Here's what I think the comps could benefit from...

Instead of harshly specific cars, maybe the theme could be a whole classification? i.e. 1967 LeMans cars, early type Ferrari's, etc.

Second, maybe a different, seperate comp for designs, where themes could be along the lines of 'high speed off roader' or 'drift car...'

Just my two cents.

well it sounds good in theory. i dont think anyone here will disagree.

but you will be expected to hold up to the schedule.

and once you change this, please dont change it again for a while.
make sure you can hold the schedule.

when I was in charge of these things, we tried the two comps at a time thing, one with base cars, other for concepts (remember the green car) with no success because of the lack of participation. I'd love to see it coming along and having people in it. I'd damn participate in these, indeed, evenif only with some pencil sketches. if you people get to do these, let me know! Vipfreak, Omnis, you both have my msn, so tell me if you do, please! and for god's sake, at least inform me of what car are you drawing each week on msn, I would have LOVED to do the Integrale! I'll try to get back into these as much as I can. I miss this stuff.

Just a little tip for you all... I'd highly recommend getting Scott Robinson's "Hotwheels: How to draw cars" book. It's basically the methods I know and use. ( The outcome is a little different though ) :tup:

What if the concept competitions and car comps alternated? Like, one week you're set to draw a specific car, the next you have to design one. Pros are that it would keep participation alive due to more free time to draw, cons are that people who only like one comp will likely skip out every other week.
