Damn dude. That McLaren logo and "Johnnie" on the helmet looks like digital graphics with how you set the lighting. Are you using reflectors or are you diffusing one huge lamp?

Table. Fabric or some large ass board (whatever's cheaper and easier to store for you). Anddd a tall desk lamp/lamp that clamps your table tops.

Will be set for the most part. That's what's so great about shooting small things. Creating the setting isn't too crazy.

Sorta leaning to a fabric backdrop, since it is both easier to store and wont get marked up like paper board does. Also more damage resistant when handling. I also would need to get said desk lamp as I don't have one. Problem is I keep buying more models and RC stuff instead :P

*EDIT*
Took some macro pics of various models with metallic paint jobs:

Nothing fancy. Just a cheap pop-up light tent with some lamps from around the house - an inspection lamp on one side (which I like as it gives the visors a nice "beam" of light) and a daylight lamp on the other side.

What material are you using to diffuse? That's the next thing I want to achieve.

And what surface are you using for the all-black backdrop with reflective flooring? It's not a large sheet of glass or acetate, is it? I used to do a black sheet with a sheet of acetate, and then I'd do the curve-in-the-back backdrop trick, but it would always capture the reflection of the lamp, which I disliked.

I'll have to spend some time and/or resource getting something to work with the overhead fluorescent lamp I use. I did make some reflectors using cardboard as backing, but I haven't tried them out yet.

Take off the head rest that serves as a pin, the back end (quite literally) falls off.

I'm so glad the previous owner did not disassemble it back to its original state. Apparently putting it back in its box means you have to take it apart. Can't imagine what kind of nightmare that could be.

I'll leave the blogpost here if you want to get some larger resolutions: http://athobbies.blogspot.ca/2017/05/photo-exoto-118-56-jaguar-d-type-short.html

How much does your job pay?

As hot as that Exoto D-Type looks, the price for those things are absurd. I think I will be happy with the $200 AA one lol...
Really though, I wish I got the Exoto Sauber C9 back when they were under $200. I would kill for an opening C9, or at least a Spark quality resin one. Though, I think someone was supposed to be making an opening diecast one, I want to say TSM. I know I need the yet to be released diecast TSM Jag XJR-9 in my life

WOW... Now that is something.

Guys I'm getting a new 1/18 autoart lambo miura sv for $120 CAD, is it a good deal? This will be my first 1/18.
Yes. While I don't have the AA Miura myself, I can confirm from pics that it is very nice. Back when AA made some really good stuff.

Guys thank you for the input. Unfortunately I can't get this model... I have to get some meds for myself and buy a few professional practice exams for my studies. If anyone is around Toronto and is interested in a 1/18 AA Miura SV red on silver brand new they can contact this number 416 277 4332 txt Chi-Gun Hobbies. Place is in Scarborough I think inside Pacific mall. He's selling it for $120 CAD he said he will even ship for 15.

I guess for now I'll be content with my 1/43 collection. Oh the sacrifice...

Wait, the AA Miuras are worth that much money now? I bought mine brand new when it came out for 70$ and thought that was a fair amount of money for it...

How'd you learn of this anyhow? Is there a web store that's available? Are you certain it's in Pmall? Is it that one shop that's on the second floor?

Avoid that hobby shop near the food court at all costs. They are selling the composite AAs for $300 and sealed Kyosho for $200.
